  1. Hope you'll stick around! Concur, though I enjoy reading about experiences others have had with sub $500 1911s My first and only was a Metro Arms Commander, pre GIANT rollmarks. @Dolomite_supafly was carrying a full size at the time, that helped me make my final decision on the brand. Had a minor, low drama, good experience warranty repair, I think I may have started a thread. It was a solid, reliable pistol.
  2. Had a male and female arrive yesterday, they so confident I wonder if repeats from last year
  3. My traipsing would resemble becoming the Mad Max Baddie, of my subdivision. Just got a magazine fed .308, so I'll keep that. AR because I think I can scavenge ammo if necessary, same with 2 duty sized 9mm handguns - mag compatibility if one breaks. A PCC taking the same mags as your pistol could be an option. Keeping my trusty old 870 Tactical as well. I'd let the 99 Savage and M1 Carbine go, .300 Savage and .30 Carbine is not common. If it reaches the point where we need to big out, I'll load as much gear in the vehicle, head to a local marina, board a vessel and strike her colors, hoist my petard and become the Black Bart of the Tennessee... I'd need something like that for the bow and stern gunners. Something in .223/.556 would be dandy vs. wood and fiberglass.
  4. Bill, I was a die hard DA/SA guy, so much so that I spent up on my two CZs. The 75B Omega went to Cajun Gun Works and the P01 came from CZ Custom as their SDP. Unless I dry fire practiced virtually daily, @Cruel Hand Luke would flog me with conviction and compassion regarding the difference in the initial and follow up trigger press and the necessity for consistent practice. Much like a revolver, an extra level of dedication to shoot well, consistently. I tried a bunch of striker fired and finally discovered Beretta's APX series, it's a winner for me. The RDO is milled, however Beretta doesn't offer suppressor height sights (or anyone else for that matter) Good luck with your search! CZ P10c?
  5. More of a steal... congrats on a great buy!
  6. We had a student bring a newly acquired Century C308 to class, I believe an older version, equipped with wood furniture - it looked cool. He lubed and test fires while I was at lunch, reported zero malfunctions.
  7. I'll try to capture some glamour shots with the morning sun.
  8. Other than the weight, for my purposes, and only having one, I agree. I was willing to add weight for something different from an AR pattern. Can I safely run quality .308? Please confirm or dispel internet information.
  9. While on the road in Alabama, I stopped in at Hoover Tactical... I had just started my research into the world of semi auto .308 rifles, so was just looking. Ended up with walking out with an HK91 When I saw it, I assumed it was a PTR91 or Century C308; both of which I've handled at Bud's and wasn't a fan. Salesman says, "it's a real one." "A real one what?" "Not a clone or kit, it's nice, here, check it out." I agonized over the decision and justified through, "they ain't making them anymore, they are desirable, it should appreciate, and I know a guy who would probably sell one of his damaged kidneys if I had to sell in a pinch." It's LNIB, except for some marring around the election port. Round count has to be low, there is still finish on the tip of the firing pin and breech face shows no wear. There is little noticeable wear on the metal on metal bits that slide. Came with the test fire docs, dated 10 Nov 1980, unused cleaning kit, manual, shell deflector (? - it's the part in the pic below the stock) sling and 6 mags. Spent way more than I had budgeted, I thought a Springfield M1A variant was iny future. I think I need a bipod.
  10. You'll need a Smatchet to go along with... Cold Steel makes one for about $30. Or, a high end model is over $200...
  11. Release the adolescent and puerile humor!
  12. A nice leather sheath for when you feel like rockin' your Viking / Medieval Warrior vibe? Those are awesome.
  13. Yep. If I was so inclined to open a gun store, my customers would love the environment. Asking questions to help you make a good decision, figure out what your goal is and finally help you get what you want. When we find the right gun, the price is the price, a few bucks within internet offers, because I have to. But, then, Ma'am / Sir, let's talk about ammo; educate / dispel myths. Walk my guest over to the ammo display...We're running a special on practice and SD ammo right now... Proper storage? Let's walk over and look at holsters, belts, etc and why it's important to buy quality gear. Gotta have a range bag or awesome backpack, check these out... Almost forgot, eyes, ears, cleaning supplies... Every guest, every time. After I ring them up, introduce training into the conversation and refer to quality folks in the area. Here's the truth, most salespeople work in an environment of "get the yes" and while management may say they're interested in a professional sales approach, it's lip service. I sell and in my position get sold to as the point of contact for inbound vendor calls. A vast majority are nice enough, but clueless. It's distressing when they move up a notch, because it's only to one.
  14. Would it be more practical to to quickly dismount, (and I have no idea what that looks like) and pull a rifle from a scabbard be an option? The horse is moving, you are moving, your target is most likely moving, getting hits on target in important places with a pistol may be extremely difficult. Once the gunfire starts, how much more will your horse and threat be moving? I am clueless, my vast experience with horses and gunfights comes from the silver screen. If legal, why not a lever action something? Looks way less threatening to others. Does have a cool factor. As it is not a scoped, traditional hunting caliber rifle, so no real hassles from .gov agencies if stopped and frisked. Another thought, if you dismount and neutralize the threat, would your horse run off from the gunfire? If so, how much walking would you anticipate? Is it easier to shoot a handgun or carbine from the saddle? It's looks equally easy for the goods guys as it is difficult for the bad guys, so you got that going for you.
  15. Similar feelings as @Chucktshoes My opinion, the NRA has been less than faithful with our money, so I with held support. Being the only act in town, I recently renewed my membership.
  16. I've had 3 different encounters that could have resulted in violent self defense. In Gatlinburg, 2 dudes loitering in front of bar, blocking the sidewalk. Slowed down our stride, they started the conversation from greater than 6 feet; come on in, we're the doormen / catchers for the bar. In Nashville #1, homeless looking dude approaching while in a hotel parking lot, hands up in the fence, began conversation with, "sorry buddy, can't help you." He wasn't expecting that, immediately turned away and headed in another direction. Nashville #2, standing in front of my hotel waiting on my group, aggressive panhandler needing $1.70 to complete his bus fare. Fence up, "Sorry buddy, I can't help you." He asked again, "it's only a buck seventy." "Sorry buddy I can't help you." Expression on his face indicated I may need to beat him down with my flashlight, key chain or with a quick pistol whipping. In this scenario, it could have escalated from blunt weapons; however for SD, not everyone needs to be shot. From paying attention while navigating unknown contacts, I've probably evaded more potential scenarios than I am aware of. Does drawing on my Roomba count?
  17. Bought 4 boxes of 100ct WWB at Rural King yesterday. $22 per , limit 4 (9mm 115 fmj)
  18. Based on ShootingtheBull's research, I bought Precision One. Functions flawlessly in my Kimber Micro.
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't .44 a very flexible round for reloading? It's got to be cheaper than pre-rolled!
  20. I am anecdotal proof of unscathed business dealings with Jim! Repeat customer.
  21. Welcome from Central East TN! Why do you have to drive to Paducah, KY to get to Union City, TN? Beautiful drive, but disconcerting.
  22. Praise to your Lord Jesus Christ, for Tad is where he belongs!!!
  23. I thought I heard once upon a time that Chapter 11 allows restructuring of debt and renegotiation of employment benefits and union contracts.
