Ain't y'all worried about that nano technology they are using? Mind and body control, I dun red it on the internet. Reynolds and Alcoa stock is going up!

How in the world did they qualify for a bowl game?

My only lever gun is a 99, so that's my vote..

I haven't bought since the Obama administration, so no dog in this fight. If bait n switch, hammer them. If complaints from whiners because CTD is the only place with stock, leave them be.
-
Anyone want to donate $35 to have me ban a whiner permanently?

I agree with @chances R , for a novice, I would urge obtaining education with live instruction and live fire. You should (hopefully) receive a minimum level of instruction for operating a handgun and the basic fundamentals of safety and shooting. A good instructor will coach a student to develop confidence and competence, the internet can't. I do like how @DaveTN is thinking, my wife can shoot but doesn't, could carry, but won't. Her purse could give me a pretty nice hideout...

My guess is 6-12 months. 99% of all these new gun owners will probably put the gun and any ammo in the sock drawer after "nothing happens within 30-60-90 days of ownership" Those folks are one and done after the initial purchase. They'll go back to their normal unaware, unarmed way of navigating the world of unknown contacts.

I've begun to embrace the mask. Hat brim pulled down, mask high and tight and choice of dark sunglasses... The new well dressed man. I used it to announce, "stay away from me." I don't want unknown people particularly close me, healthy or otherwise. Social distancing should make it a little more obvious if a BG is trying to close distance.

Anybody notice California's recent stance on heavy metals? Brake pads with trace copper used as a replacement for asbestos are being banned, since trace copper is a health hazard. Should only effect the supercar owners... They've attacked lead bullets as a health hazard, when not apply the copper rule to ammo as well?

That would only serve to keep me from getting arrested.

That whole, "separated by a common language" bit

If you get arrested, let me know, I'll protest for you! I think you did the right thing in a safe and humane manner. Plus you have an after-bankers-hours action plan.

$350 for a duty rated, brand-name, service pistol? I've got 2 full sized and a centurion. No complaints.

Same here, through I still enjoy fur free surfaces.

This was a great experience for me, with a guest instructor and low range valet duties, I was able to really participate The first half of the class was basic first aid for beyond band aid injuries. Not having any exposure to medical training since my son was in the scouts and helping the boys earn a their merit badge, I needed knowledge. Jeff Bishop is a very good instructor and communicator; look forward to working with him in the future. Drawing from his experience as an EMT, a deployed Marine, and currently Louisville Metro, he shares best practices for a civilian perspective I learned how to properly apply a modern tourniquet to arms and legs and got to experience the pros and cons of the different types available. Also have a basic understanding and confidence for patching and plugging holes and using different types of pressure bandages. I'm more likely to roll up on a car wreck than a gunfight, so I have the beginnings of a new set of portable skills. After lunch, we got on the range and shot the 5 Yard Round Up as a warm up and for self assessment. We then moved to 2-man team drills with rifles. This is always fun because I never get to do it and way out there on the fringes of possibilities, I rather know it than not. Dry Work to ensure muzzle and trigger discipline and basic commands of move/moving/set cover/covering reload/reloading Important to keep them simple, it's hard to hear during live fire exercises. Interestingly, running my HK91 dry, I noticed the burdensome weight, with the live fire command of "fight" and a little adrenaline, I didn't seem to notice at all. For Live fire, Randy and Jeff added a new level of difficulty: Alternating between partners, Jeff would call, "Hit, left arm / right leg / etc" You would apply a tourniquet to your injured limb while your partner provided cover fire Once applied, you got back in the fight. Had an opportunity to switch to my pistol; ran dry on one run, I knew could get my pistol in the fight faster than a HK91 reload. What I should have done was called "reloading" after my partner was done treating injuries and back in the fight. Big shout out to my partner Chip, during my self-treatment, he moved his armored body into a position to cover me. Great weather, fantastic group of folks, valuable practical knowledge obtained, two talented instructors and whole lot of fun.

Dec 5th Dayton TN Critical Rifle Skills
A.J. Holst replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Training Discussions
If you haven't made a decision to take the last spot: PCCs and RCPs are welcome. If you haven't sighted in your rifle or carbine, no worries it's part of the class. Lastly, no chest rig, alice gear or shoulder bag? It doesn't matter, I don't have any of that stuff except a good gun belt and have always run out of my pockets... If you do have a neat rig, bring it! How often do you get a chance to train and use it? Side note, if topping off ammo is preventing you from attending, I have some 5.56 I'll bring and make available at a fair price.
