  1. Welcome
  2. Good luck with your search....
  3. Cool...thanks.
  4. AFAIK it has always been 8 hours, brokedown into 4 hours classroom and 4 hours on the range.
  5. Although you can get a license for FRS/GMRS radios, it's not required is it?
  6. Whether it is 18, 21, 25 or older (or younger), you have to be an adult and responsible for yourself and your own actions at some age. But by that same token you should have the privileges that come with it also.
  7. Welcome
  8. Blackmail is the right word and yes, they have many ways to do it. I may just have too much faith, but I truly feel there are at least a few states that would stand up to it.
  9. Welcome
  10. I don't remember the make or model right now, but I saw a scanner not too long ago that was supposed to lock on to any close broadcast. I mean I know most will scan a certain band, but this one is more or less supposed to check all the bands instead of having to go through each one. If I find it again I'll post it.

  13. I am by no means an expert on the workings of the federal or state government or really the overall issue of Firearms, Carry permit and the 2A, but here are my thoughts anyway. As I imagine most of us know the speed limit, drinking age and many other things are left up to the states to decided. The way the speed limit was (and the drinking age still is) the same nationwide is the federal government ties money to something. Like now, if a state had a drinking age of less than 21 they wouldn't get some sort of federal money (not sure from where). So since the state wants that money, it makes the age 21 although technically it is still up to them. So I think the only possible way that the federal government could have any control of citizen carry would be withholding some type of federal money from states that allowed it. I really don't think this would be done calling for an all out ban on carry. But no matter what the restrictions or money was, each state could still choose to keep the system they have in place and just not receive what ever money the federal government tied to it. I also believe SEVERAL states would fight this and not simply say "ok" So while it could be done, it is not as easy as the simple stroke of a pen by the President.
  14. Don't have the mag or haven't seen it either, but one other item I would suggest for a go bag is a first aid kit.
  15. Sometimes the knowledge of the staff at each station is different, but the law clearly says you can apply for a renewal up to 6 months before your current permit expires.
  16. Welcome
  17. Welcome from just north of you in Milan.
  18. I'm all for it, your still providing the beer, right?
  19. Although I voted Yes, perhaps a TGO Social Group dedicated to the topic would be better than a sub-forum?
  20. Welcome
  21. My I agree with Reservoir Dog & Rugerman. They well within their "rights", but they for sure should have identified themselves as LEOs sooner, either by the use of the blues or announcing as such when walking up to you. Doesn't sound like any intentional bad actions on their part, but could have ben really bad.
  22. I don't think you have to take any of the class. 39-17-1351(e) The department shall also require an applicant to submit proof of the successful completion of a department approved handgun safety course. The course shall include both classroom hours and firing range hours. An applicant shall not be required to comply with the firing range and classroom hours requirements of this subsection (e) if the applicant submits proof to the department that within five (5) years from the date the application for a handgun carry permit is filed the applicant has: (4) Successfully completed all handgun training of not less than four (4) hours as required by any branch of the military. ...and agree with Junglist as far as the reason.
