  1. Thanks for the suggestion as I welcome them for sure. I've decided on a re-curve and have been looking at those and SA Sports both and others. I think about $250 is going to be my limit. I know re-curves are harder to cock, but I've tried a friends and it wasn't that bad. I'll be getting a string cocker for whatever I buy for sure. I also have a really nice red dot sight I've had several years that I could put on it. I'm going to bid my time and wait on a deal that's for sure.
  2. But they just told you it was out of warranty... pitiful
  3. What a gimmick. It's an easy fix I bet. There's no other reason for them to want your camera back except to fix it and resell it as a remanufactured unit. Greedy bunch for sure.
  4. Mine also. I have a few rifles and a couple of pistols. Love 'em all though. A lot of fun to shoot. I have to admit I really ain't happy about the price of 22 ammo any longer, but it is what it is......Maybe things will come down some more eventually.
  5. Thank you Dave. I'll definitely be buying a crossbow. I have had 2 shoulder surgeries and can't shoot a traditional bow at all. I've heard of high country archery. I think they are located in Dunlap Tn right across the mountain from me.
  6. Thanks Kahrman. That makes sense. I know shot placement would mean a lot for that to happen. What would be a minimum draw weight for a crossbow in your opinion?
  7. I don't know much about it, so I could very well be wrong. LOL.
  8. Thanks! I'll do the same if I find something. One thing though. I thought the bolt was supposed to shoot through the deer. Why would this not be desirable?
  9. Awesome Bersa! Maybe they'll be affordable too...LOL!!
  10. Thank you sir. That's what I mean about my lack of archery knowledge. LOL. I thought they were pretty tough but I do see what you mean.
  11. Interesting....I don't own an air rifle but I'm curious about what you hunt. I'm thinking squirrels and rabbits? Anything else? Oh....and Welcome to TGO!
  12. I live very close, like 2 to 10 miles, from several TWRA hunting opportunities that require archery only to deer hunt. These areas are open on Tues. Thur. and Sat. only, but I'm good with that since I'm retired. Anyways.....it's archery only for deer and I'm wanting to know a bit about crossbows. I've never owned any kind of archery equipment and I"m on a pretty tight budget. I know someone that hunts on these areas and they say it's not hard to get shots as close as 20 to 40 feet from a ground blind. I'm thinking about springing for a crossbow if I could get one cheap enough. Say in the 200 range already geared up. I see some at times on CL, and I've looked at them on Amazon, but I don't know a thing about them as I said. Can anyone tell me what to stay away from? I've been looking for a re-curve instead of a compound due to the much stated simplicity and much less maintenance required, but for some reason they seem to shoot slower and cost more. Most probably due to the less maintenance perhaps? If some of you could point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged.
  13. Welcome to TGO....I'm truly sorry for your heart condition sir. I see you served our nation in the military and as a policeman. Thank you for your service in both capacities. I'm hoping and praying for you sir.
  14. How durable are the new ones? I'm wondering how much for a replacement when the lifetime becomes unreadable.
  15. No one is ever going to stop criminals from having guns. They've always had them and always will.
  16. Ok....Ok....the joke was funny too. LOL. We used to say the something similar when I was into scuba diving....you don't have to outrun the shark, just the person you are diving with. That's why I always carried a knife when diving! Everybody said "you ain't gonna kill no shark with that thing." I'd reply..."who said anything about killing the shark?"
  17. When hunting, I have my hunting firearm, which varies of course, AND a Glock 27 with 3 extended mags loaded with +P ammo....just because you never know what you're going to run into these days. If I'm in a vehicle the Glock is always there with at least 2 of the above mentioned mags. If I ain't nekkid I have a .380 Seecamp on me somewhere....ALWAYS. So...I guess it's .380 for me as far as the question goes.
  18. Welcome to TGO Spyros. I just saw this today, missed the opening post somehow, I'm working my way through your videos and enjoying them a lot. Keep up the good work!
  19. That dog will never go hungry..LOL. I bet some homeless person taught it to him.
  20. WOW....they both must be sons of a sister - brother union, if you know what I mean!!
  21. I've never seen that brand, but it may be in some of our areas. Beware: http://www.today.com/video/dog-food-recalled-after-euthanasia-drug-is-found-in-it-871626819890 They musta made someone mad in the assembly line.
