  1. signed it Ain't that where they came from?
  2. The Academy Sports in Hixson tn was pretty stocked up on 22LR this evening. They even had 30 or so Winchester Bricks of 525 rounds for $28.
  3. I have a good friend that doesn't hunt but his nephew does. He asked me if I keep the heart and liver when I kill a deer. I told him no I'd never done that. He said that the heart was absolutely delicious and the liver too if you like liver (which I do). I didn't kill another deer after talking to him, but I do plan on doing that next time I get one. If you think about it, the heart is a muscle so it makes sense to eat the heart. I've never looked for beef heart though. I may just give that a try if I can find one.
  4. That's what I do also. Every time I'm in the local grocery I take a cruise by the meat section and look for the discounted "cook or freeze today" labels. I usually am able to keep ahead of what my wife and I need in this way. I usually save $2 or $3 on each pack. We do eat pretty good throughout the year and save money too using this method. I managed one measly deer this year and have started my crappie stash of fillets for the year so we're in good shape on the meat side of life.
  5. I drink my 30 oz Ozark Trails cup every morning, then about 2 16 oz glasses of unsweetened tea in the afternoon. I'm good I think.
  6. I will be praying for your wife, you and your family.
  7. Very sleek. Great looking grips! Good choice!
  8. Yep. During muzzle loader season I sat and listened to a bunch of them right above me on a ridge. funny thing was, a plane flew over kind of low and was very loud....these crazy turkeys started gobbling and didn't stop for at least a couple of minutes. I'd heard that a loud noise would set them off, but that's the first time I'd heard it.
  9. This will be my second season turkey hunting. I didn't even see one last year on my old lease. My new one is different. I saw probably 20 or more turkeys during deer season. I'm hoping to get one this year.
  10. A terrible WHINING sound from Liberal America and it's MUSIC TO MY EARS!!!!
  11. I would like to get a CZ 455 Varmint, .22 WMR but if I do, I'll have to sell something first.
  12. Everyone has their niche, but I have bought 3 GT made knives and he is a master craftsman. Send him a pic or a description of something close to what you want and he will make it.....and you will be amazed at what he can do.
  13. The 17 seems pretty cheap to shoot too. I've seen a box of 50 about the same as 22mag and sometimes a little cheaper.
  14. I'm thinking about one myself. I've heard groundhog taste just like chicken.....and I love chicken!!
  15. Having posted about the possibility of using a 22 magnum for coyotes, I got interested in the subject and saw many articles on using the 17HMR. It seemed to me that most articles favored the 22 mag to the 17HMR for larger predators such as coyotes. While I'm still on the side of a more reliable humane kill and feel that even the 22 mag is at the bottom of my list of coyote cartridges, I thought this information was very enlightening to both the 22 magnum guys and those that like the 17HMR. personally, I'm sticking with with a 44 magnum cause I really love to shoot the Marlin 1894 I have in that caliber and I have a lot of ammo for it I bought cheap from a neighbor that sold me the gun. http://www.chuckhawks.com/compared_17HMR_22WMR.htm
  16. You've been added to my prayer list. Praying for quick recovery!
  17. I've looked it over and there is a pretty large hollow leading away to a wooded area. There's a good place to set up and place the call and attractor low in the hollow. No chance of hitting anything. There's an area where people deer hunt behind the shooting direction to boot and it's not being used now that the season is over. I'm going to give it a try the end of the week.
  18. Like I said earlier.....I'm going with the scoped 44 mag marlin. I know that will drop them in their tracks.
  19. That was a deal for sure. I have 2 CZ's a 452 and a 455 evolution. Both are great shooters. I had them around 3 years or so.
  20. I have a very good friend that retired from the Navy and he's always tellimg me stories about his adventures. He keeps me laughing every time we get together.
  21. Thanks to everybody for serving for those of us that could not. That's something my son always said when his mom and I asked him why he didn't get out. He had plans of making it a career. He always said, "Because this is what I do....I go for those that can't go."
  22. Thera a lot of speculation that Carl will fulfill his contract and wants out to go to college. It's going to be interesting I think.
