  1. Great job Sam1. Think of all the nice firearms you could buy with the savings!
  2. If it wuz black, it coulda been called the Batman Moth...ha!
  3. Thank you for the explanation MikeG. I know reading about WLS in this thread sure pulled a string in my heart. Of course I haven't thought of that in a very long time. It's impossible to explain to the younger generations the simple joys we had so long ago. Mom's delicious, but simple breakfast of bacon and eggs when school was out in summer. Hitting the door as soon as that was over to swim or fish in the creek or maybe play army in the woods. Maybe play cork ball with a taped up fishing cork and a broom handle, or ride bikes to a local store where you could get a bottle of Coca Cola, an ice cream sandwich AND a bag of peanuts all for 25 cents. We'd hit the woods and hunt Blue Jays and black birds with a BB gun, but we'd better not shoot a robin, red bird or song bird and let our parents find out.......I do know my dad was a woodsman and said the Blue Jays ate other birds eggs and Black Birds were a nuisance so there ya go. Simple times long gone. Like listening to WLS after going to bed.
  4. I'm not sure what's up with that, but during the night in the 60's, I'm thinking many stations backed down on the power or simply went off the air. I couldn't get WLS until nighttime. I'm thinking around 9pm. I do know it was loud and clear. I asked for an RCA multi-channel radio for Christmas one year, around 1960 or so, and got one to my surprise. I had a grandfather that was paralyzed from a coal mining accident in the late 40's and he had one for baseball games. He was a baseball nut and I think I took after him!! Love me some baseball...!!!
  5. Yep....I listened to WLS every night as a teenager until I moved out on my own. I didn't have time for it after that...LOL
  6. I drove a 57 ford station wagon with stick shift on the column. I even picked up my girlfriend in it and drove her to school also. On the weekends, my dad and I hunted quail and grouse out of it. The dog bed was always in the back.....LOL!
  7. "And there was thunder, thunder over thunder road....thunder was his engine and white lighting was his load..." If you remember that then yer an old fart...!!! and YES....I wrote that from memory....didn't have ta look it up!
  8. Dynamite comes in all sizes and shapes.....LOL
  9. That's not a holster that's a piece of ART!!! Great craftsmanship!
  10. Not bad....he survived...LOL. On the plus side he has a heckuva story to tell!!!
  11. That's is a great looking holster. Very good work!
  12. Well dang. I've been looking for some good hiking boots but I missed the sale. As usual
  13. Sadly, if you're 35 or younger, you have no idea what freedom really is.....or was rather.
  14. Oh come'on....we all know that the best handgun for self defense is the one you have on you at the time of need. You can't talk self defense without talking conceal-abilty in the venue you are in when attacked. 22 - 45 beats a knife at a gunfight every time.
  15. Ok. I'm amazed at your system and the mirror edges it produces. I'm sure there's quite a learning curve on using that piece of equipment, however, it's obvious you've got it down to a science.
  16. It probably came from trade slang terminology. Like the junction box on an electric motor where you wire it up. it's called a "peckerhead" by electricians. Well us 64 year old ones anyway!! LOL
  17. Yep and they are beautiful fighters also. I really love my fried crappie fillets, but nothing compares to wood smoked or charcoal grilled trout. I'm hitting the rivers again for trout real soon!! I haven't caught one in probably 15 years, but this thread is getting me fired up. I might just be buying another fly rod soon. I haven't owned one in many moons!!!
  18. I used to fly fish about 30 years ago. I was fortunate enough to live in Glenwood Springs Colorado back in the early 80's for awhile and fish some of their Gold Medal waters back in the day. I always used a shorter 7.5' fly rod instead of the long ones. It was easier to cast, for me anyway, and I always seemed to get a better hook set. Now I always use ultra light or light weight spinning gear. I just got back actually from getting my Sportsman's license and that is one of the reasons. I plan on hunting a great deal more this year and begin fishing for trout so the Sportsman's was worth it for once. The Hiwassee is a great trout stream for sure and there have been some really nice ones come out of there at times. Another good area for trout is Tellico Plains area. There's also an awesome museum in TP that has just about every kind of firearm made from way back in history. It's really worth the time to go through it. Nice fish by the way. They are delicious grilled on a charcoal (not gas) grill with a touch of lemon pepper on them while they cook.
  19. Oh yeah. It's great. Crappie, Bass, Shellcrackers.....it's an awesome fishery for sure.
  20. Go night fishing on Chickamauga in summer....you'll "catch" all you want and have lot's of reminders all over your arms, legs, ankles, etc...... LOL
  21. Yes and now that Carol knows the truth about what Negan did, she'll shame King Ezekiel into action with Rick.
  22. My favorite band of all "time" LOL
