  1. I just picked one of these up in trade a week ago in 357 sig. Anyone have any experience with them? Essentially its a 229 frame, with a 224 length slide. I'm not having a lot of luck with online holster shopping. I'd be most interested to hear if anyone has one of these, and has found a holster they like?
  2. So, I may be beginning a new career soon, a career in which I trade in my cargo pants and duty belt for business casual. So, I will need to pare down my carry options from my full size Beretta PX4 Storm or RIA 1911 to something smaller and easier to conceal. I currently own a Ruger SP101 with a 3" barrel and most often carry it in my original Alien Gear IWB holster at around 4 o'clock (or 8 o'clock if I'm carrying it lefty as a back-up), and as it is that combo disappears on me under a slim button down shirt and dress slacks. My issue is that I want more than 5 shots, so I've been checking out a number of cost effective micro/subcompact semi-autos. My parameters: 9mm, easily concealed under business casual, 7+1 minimum capacity, and no more than $450-500. I've narrowed my selection down to the Ruger LC9s, Ruger EC9S, Springfield XD-S, and Beretta Nano, leaning most heavily toward the Beretta Nano. My questions: 1) What are you opinions on my options? 2) What does everyone think about the Nano? 3) Does anyone have any experience/does anyone carry the EC9s? and 4) Are there any other options that I'm missing?

    Ruger LCP II

I've have had a Ruger LCP II in .380ACP for a few months now. Got it new and been carrying it in a DeSantis Super Fly pocket holster. I got to say this is the easiest gun to carry that I ever had. Just put it in your front pocket and go. No big heavy gun belt and no belt holster. I've put 100 rds of American Eagle 95gr though it so far just to check function. So far so good. Big thumbs up ! It comes with the flush fit magazine plate and the "finger groove" plate. I use the flush fit one. This is a very good gun. I've only had one other .380 and that was a CZ83. Loved that gun and it ate any ammo but it was a bigger gun. This LCP is really neat and small.
  4. These guys crack me up. Perfect recreation of the old QVC videos, etc. I literally just found this today, I'm sure it's a bit older; Those Magwells have been out for a while.
  5. A coworker has the following gun for sale. I am considering buying it. I think it is a Model 10 with 4" barrel. Does that identification seem correct? I'll admit that I don't know much about revolvers. He quoted me a specific price, which I'll keep to myself for now. Is it a Model 10? What does a decent price seem? Is it worth more in current condition or reblued? I understand that rebluing typically kills any collector value, but since this is already in rough shape and I doubt a rare piece it probably doesn't have much collector value to begin with. If the timing is good and the bluing redone, it could make a good shooter. I assume, if one wanted, they could purchase new/like new grips easily. If I get it, it'd probably mainly be for a project gun. I'm never tried bluing anything and it seems like a fun project.
  6. Figured I would share. Saw this at shoot point blank range in Knoxville earlier. It’s used in great shape with box, mags and grip inserts. $660 and 10% off
  7. Anyone have one of the S&W book/manuals that lists when a gun was produced? I just picked up a nice little Model 34-1 without the the letter prefix. It's simply 117452, and I know that beginning in 1969 is when they began using the M Prefix. Thanks in advance.
  8. Tell me about the good the bad or the ugly of this in 380 ss.

    BHP

So, I said my FAL needed a friend... Friend of mine who works at GT sent me a message cause he knew I’ve been after a decent older one at a fairly low price. I believe it’s a Mark III, 1990 production year by the serial #. She’s gonna get some wood grips and I’ll decide whether or not she’ll get a new finish after cleaning out the crud and rust. Now I guess I really do need to get on finding some Rhodie shorts in size “fat”.
  10. Hey Everybody - We're rolling out a new co-ed class from Citizens Safety Academy called After the Permit (ATP). It's two levels, and we've got level 1 scheduled for early October in Murfreesboro. ATP-1 is a four-hour course that continues where the TN Handgun Permit class ends. This course was designed by @aqil Qadir as a stepping stone between the basic TN permit class for more advanced classes like NRA Defensive Pistol or other full-day or two-day classes with higher round-counts and holster work. Hope some of you will come out. Sorry guys, this time enrollment is reserved for ladies only. But please tell your mom, gramdma, sister, daughter, girlfriend/wife, and any female who might be interested in learning a little more about handgun safety and operation. Doesn't matter if they're new to guns, experienced shooters, just a little curious, or totally terrified -- all ladies who can be safe are welcome. No pressure, no macho stuff, just a little fun with the girls. Class: NRA Women on Target Date: Saturday, October 13, 2018 Time: 8am to 1pm Location: Citizens Safety Academy, 752 E. 12. I'm just curious if anybody else has sent in an application packet to buy a CMP 1911? I had originally thought that I'd let this year pass and wait to see the guns people actually got. However, I now find that those names who don't make the cut this year will be rolled over to next year in the same order they were picked. Presumably, this will continue for following years. Simply put, if you're number 8001 this year, you'll be number 1 next year. I'm thinking that CMP will get more than enough applications to fill orders for at least the next several years. So its best to get on the list now. My packet went out in today's mail. Anybody else?
  13. How can we convince major gun companies that the .357 sig is not a dying caliber and is an amazing round that is in a league of it's own when compared to other stout rounds, also convince more major gun manufacturers to start producing the gun again in multiple variations to appease their loyal gun community. THESE GUNS WILL SALE!!!JUST MAKE EM ALREADY!
  14. Hello guys, I know this gun (H&K usp .357 sig) is hard to find but I'm sure someone is selling one somewhere. Please is anyone is selling one or if you know somewhere I can go to find one I would love some advice. I was reading that a member named Creepy was selling his a couple yrs back I wonder if he ever got rid of it? Again some help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys!!
  15. Just to be crystal clear up front, I'm specifically NOT trying to sell any guns here, trying to get advice on how to proceed. My wife's uncle passed away, and his wife legally passed his gun collection down to us. We are keeping what we want, and are attempting to sell the rest. I sold some of them to our local shop, but the price that they're offering on two specific items is way too low - that's what they're able to offer, specifically based on their current inventory (a glut of these specific types of handguns). Just for reference, what they're offering is around 45% of the price I've seen these specific guns sell for privately. I understand they need to make money (and don't begrudge them that at all), but for the others they purchased from me, they gave me around 70% - 75% of what they're going to sell them for. With the show coming up this weekend, I figured I'd go up and try to sell them - as near as I can tell, it would be pretty safe (from a legal perspective) for me as a seller; assuming the prospective buyer has a current TN carry permit, the state of TN has done a legal background check, and I can be assured as a seller that to the best of my knowledge (to meet the state's requirements for a private sale) the buyer is legally allowed (by the state) to purchase, correct? Next question: according to a 2015 story, RK Gun Shows (whom the upcoming show is put on by) is no longer allowing private sales at their shows without a background check. Does the buyer having a current TN carry permit meet that requirement? If this doesn't meet that requirement, is there a way to have the check done at the show prior to the sale? To be perfectly honest, I'm not interested in meeting up with someone in the parking lot just to avoid running afoul of RK Show's rule. I'd much rather do it safely (from both a personal and legal perspective) and keep it all above board. As a condition of the sale, I will be capturing the individual's personal information, including their HCP number / DL number (since they're the same thing in TN). For my (legal) peace of mind, I will not be selling to someone who doesn't have a permit, and I would have serious issues selling to someone who would have an issue with providing me that documentation for a private sale. I just want to handle this all correctly, legally, and above-board - please let me know if I can clarify anything, I apologize for the length of this post - I just wanted to be as clear and specific as possible!
  16. It's heavy, ugly as sin, cheap, and has one awful trigger, but shoots remarkable well! I'm talking about my new Hi-Point 45! I kind of/sort of bought it as a joke and even ordered new grips for it with $100 bills on it from hipoint45.com just to make it that much uglier... but I am really impressed with it. My Mom, Son, and I have a family shooting night at least once a month so I took it out to Royal Range tonight to play with it. 7 Yards produced the following:
  17. My BgB (best gun buddy) ended up with two P224s and was considering selling one. This one came with the .40 and .357 barrel, night sights, improved trigger and upgraded G10 grips...and yes, I got the BgB deal. First impressions opening the box, this is a beefy pistol and looks bigger than it is, despite being dimensionally the same height and lengths as a G26 (and Walther PK 380) The front strap height is where I get picky with any compact or smaller pistol. I can shoot with my pinky unsupported, but don't like it. With the mag extension, the front strap allows all 3 fingers to grip and it is the same height as a G26 and Kimber Micro with an extended mag. Comparing it to my svelte CZs, I can hear the Sig guys saying, "we're here to pump up your little girly man pistols." It is the thickest pistol I own at 1.50", but the grip shape feels better than my modifed G19/26. I am impressed with the trigger; advertised at 10# DA and 4.4# SA. The DA pull is smooth, I can only detect a little friction. I'm not a trigger snob, but can compare to other guns sent to a custom shop. No stacking, even with a slo-mo pull. SA break, reset and take up are good enough that a trip to the Sig Armorer is not immediately (if ever) required. My opinion only, I think the Sig trigger may be good out of the box and easy to improve due to it's design. It appears to be similar to the CZ Omega trigger, in that it has a single trigger bar vs. the traditional horseshoe shape in my non-Omega CZ. A few things to get use to: frame mounted decocker is great, but for a lefty, takes a little extra manipulation to engage and the slide release is definitely positioned for a righted handed shooter. Assuming it passes a function test and I can shooter it accurately, the grip height is great for my body shape and AIWB.

  19. I'm looking for a buddy in the Cleveland/Chattanooga area that wouldn't mind me shooting some rounds through their RMR equipped pistol. Preferably, it'd be a Glock and/or Trijicon, but really anything would do. I just want to give it a go before I sink a lot of money into building a good carry setup. I've read that red dots on pistols make most people slower because they are trying to place the dot on target. On one hand I could see this being true; On the other hand it seems like with training it would be negligible. Also, if anyone specifically has a Glock 19 MOS, I'd love to hear your input as to whether the MOS is the way to go or if getting a regular Glock machined is the way to go.
  20. So I’ve suddenly been bit with the desire to place an RMR on my carry gun. My first thought was to get an MOS 19, but considered considering other options. Id prefer to stay Glock, but am open to perhaps a Walter PPQ, CZ, or other. Requirements: Must accept Trijicon RMR 9mm Glock 19 size 15+ capacity I do think the MOS 19 is my choice but open to arguments.
  21. Monday my son & I were on our way back home from Asheville and since Bud's gun shop is only a few miles off our route home, we thought who can resist. So we stopped. I had no intension of swiping plastic for anything other than some 22 std vels.....maybe. That philosophy failed miserably since unknown to me Buds bought a bunch of these police Star BM 9mm pistols to dump on the market. The carot came in the shape of a big yellow sale tag on original boxed guns with the $199.99 digits printed largely across the center of the tag. Now I'v seen this sort of bate & sell before in shotgun news and other on line distributors with even better pricing but who knows what condition you end up with and the Star had a good rep but I never held one of these older steel frame BM guns in my hand. I had to fix my ignorance of the matter by getting to hold the sample on one of the 6 boxes in the case. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with the scaled down 1911 9mm! Further thought provoked me into getting all 6 guns out of their boxes and bingo, a near mint unit with about 90 percent hardly worn blueing. I jumped on it as did my son for the second best one. All I can say is wow.... what a deal on a very well made mini 1911 style 9mm. Very happy with its quality of craftsmanship. 36 feet off a wood block rest with wolf ammo I highly recommend these steel Star BM's as great "cant kill it" 9's...... that handle great box after box!
  22. Picked up an HK P30 V3 the other day : ) Replacing my Glock 19 as primary (but the Glock isn't going anywhere; I still like it).
  23. Stumbled across this, and it stowed away as I left the shop! Has a removable plate for ez optic install, high sights for easy can add ons, comes w 2 24 and 1 17 round mag w case and flat blackstrap. Awesome awesome pistol. Only bad thing? It’s new so holsters are scarce. Finally went online for a cheapie, will order one at red hill today.Hate to say it but being a sig fan, this makes me an fn fan. Zero issues. Runs like a sewing machine, emptied the 17 round w junk 125 gr ball ammo, this just screamed! Enjoy!
  24. I've gotten into a much better paying career field, and have decided it's time to really play with some firearm ideas. I've always ever had a 1911, and a .357 magnum revolver. I've decided I like the idea of only having to worry about 1 caliber. I really like the 1911 platform, and really like the fact that somebody makes one in .357 magnum but frankly, it's not cheap. Does anybody here have any experience with one and can let me know if it's worth it?
  25. Am I the only one having a heckuva time figuring out how to post a new classified here ? Seems like 47 years in IT left me unprepared for such technical things. LOL ! But, I'll see if this works. Y'all tell me how I goofed. ****Use of the Trading Post is reserved for Benefactors and Authorized Vendors****
