  1. I am trading into this Savage MKII McRees chassis with Rifle Basix trigger, 8-32x33 20mm Mueller scope. OK, the eyepiece and sunshade may have to go, but the package appeals to me.
  2. Anyone have experience with this rifle? Accuracy, best factory loads for deer, and coyote? Pros and cons? I'm really interested in picking one up, but looking for real reviews. Thanks in advance.
  3. when trying to bu a new hunting rifle recently, I was told I can not because my drivers lic says NYS Im a home and property owner in Tennessee though also is this a new law,? I left NYS to get away from this stuff.

    Very cool PSA video

They're making a lot of the parts in house now. Bill

    Hornet

I’ve got a hankering for a 22 Hornet(or possibly a 17). I’ve been wanting something more than a 22 mag but don’t like how the wind effects HMR. For some reason, I keep coming back to the Hornet. I will mostly shoot targets with the occasional groundhog, but do plan for a Prairie dog hunt sometime in the future I like the looks of the Ruger 77 but keep reading bad reviews and that it would need to be sent to CPC. I'm not big on a CZ, mostly because of the magazine hanging down. Thoughts on a Hornet? If I go 22, do I need a K chamber? 17 better or worse? Which rifle?
  6. Has anyone seen/held/shot one of these? Looks like a Marlin Papoose clone. It looks easier to handle than a Henry Survival Rifle. It can be found cheaper than the other two. Is it the gun to fill a need that's just not there??? Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  7. I am thinking of purchasing a new deer rifle. Everyone is telling me to get a 6.5 Creedmoor. If you have any experience with the 6.5, please tell me why everyone is so stuck on the Creedmoor. I am an old school 06 kind of man. Weatherby Vanguard 2 is said to be guaranteed to hold 1" at 100 yards. Want to stay under $1,000.00 for rifle and scope. Also what scope would you purchase?
  8. I love .22s! Thinking about a .22 Mag Henry lever action. Opinions from all of you about the .22 Mag round.
  9. Ok not sure if this is the right place but there didn't seem to be a better one. On occasion I buy a cheap AR lower when I can find them, they sit and wait until I decide what to build them into. I bought one yesterday while in Sevierville. The new ATF forms now specifically ask if it is a long gun or handgun. WHY? I haven't made up my mind yet. So now it looks like I have to build it into a long gun because I had to choose on the spot, and I just recently built a pistol. It just don't make sense. Oh and bought a new carry gun Saturday but that is for another thread.
  10. Anyone have any experience with these? The price on the lowers is a little steep, but I kinda like them aesthetically. Without being able to try one out though I was wondering if the ergonomics felt right or if it was just awkward in practice. Came across this modified one a while back (I think it was on ARFCOM). I don't remember who the person was, but it sure came out awesome!
  11. I asked this 5 years ago on another forum and never got an answer. So I’ll ask it here. Anyone know the barrel OD diameter in the area shown?
  12. Dear all, I am looking for suggestions for my first .308 battle rifle. What brands are recommended? What brand do you have that you like or dislike? I am looking for a wide gamut of opinion here so I can make a good purchase. Input is appreciated. Thanks, Matthew
  13. Has anyone played with a Nosler rifle? How's the action? Is it worth the $$$$?
  14. Really been thinking about one of these in 45-70 ever since they came out. Looks like a 8 pound rifle with a 25” bbl. anybody tried one? I’ve got lots of 45-70 brass, bullet molds, bullets etc. need a gun to go with it but don’t want to break the bank.
  15. Just saw this posted. Lever Action AR built of the PSA Christmas lower to mimic the Red Ryder BB gun. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2019/10/16/brickwurx-manufacturing-red-ryd-ar-lever-action-ar-15/
  16. Figured I'd post the results of the .450 Bushmaster that CVA has in the Scout. I bought one mostly for hog hunting and I'm glad I did, this thing is accurate. The ammo I'm using is the Hornady Custom 250gr FTX. Here's he results
  17. I just ordered one for a house gun my wife can shoot. Reviews claim the recoil is half what the 12 Ga model is, we shall see. Free shipping .......................https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/200461 Bill
  18. I've wanted a 357 lever action forever and have been looking at them lately. Not really sure if I want a 20" or carbine but that will pretty much come down to what I think looks the best. This would be just a fun/range gun and nothing else really so I wanted to keep the price between $600 to $800. What is your opinion of the Marlin 1894C and the Henry Big Boy Steel? Thanks
  19. I just got a Winchester mod 40. I'm having trouble finding much info about the gun except, "It sucks, it's the worst gun ever!" and the other answer "I own 10 of these and will buy all of them I come across because these are great guns!" I think this one might be a skeet grade gun, but I'm not sure. It is in good condition in working order, although I have not fired it. It cycles just fine and is very clean. I got it from a friend that used to live in Chicago. The trigger guard has Bill Goodman on it. Could it be the White Sox Billy Goodman? Hmmm...... With all that being said, where can I find any information on this gun? I'd like to do a complete tear down for cleaning but not having information readily available, I'm too chicken. Thanks
  20. Ok, I can’t be the only one excited about this rifle coming out. Granted, I don’t live on a farm, and need a good snake gun. But I’m kind of a .22 whore and loves me some lever guns. Its listed with an MSRP of 420, so I’m guessing we’ll see it closer to 350. And when my wife asks me how many guns do I really need? I answer, “I don’t know, all of them?” https://www.henryusa.com/shotgun/garden-gun-smoothbore-22/
  21. I have always thought the hype about Leupold and other high end scopes was blown out of proportion. I finally broke down and bought a vintage Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 after seeing everybody's recommendation for a scope on the model 70 i bought a few months back and wow. What have I been shooting with all these years? Crystal clear and i love the eye relief.
  22. My son traded a couple of basic guns for this Kel-Tech and I got to shoot it today. I didn't know what to think about it at first but hey, the thing is pretty well built. I was quit surprised and it shot very well. My only gripe is I would opt for much better aluminum flip up sights over the blocky plastic pop ups that came on the gun. This gun gets a thumbs up for a hi cap survival piece.
  23. Man, oh man. Guy just came in, had Armalite AR10T, with documentation from the factory that it was the 60th one made. Had a Leupold 6.5 x 20 - 50 scope and six mags... and he wanted to sell it...
  24. Don't get it... https://www.guns.com/news/2019/09/16/colt-reportedly-to-stop-making-rifles-for-consumer-market
  25. I'm considering one. Any tips or suggestions?
