MLGW-Issues Alert

Recommended Posts

Does anyone that has MLGW as an electric provider remember ever getting a energy alert-

So they want us to inhibit our electric use because of severe cold weather-

I have lived in the same house at the same address for 25 years with electric heat and only within the last 2 years have we ever gotten any of these alerts-

Me thinks the Greenies and their solar projects are starting to show their ineptness to actually provide the power we need-

When are people going to wake up to all this nonsense and start to get back to the systems that have always worked-

My furnace and complete home is all electric-isn't this what they wanted??

I don’t think it’s that deep or nefarious.  MLGW uses an extremely minimal amount of solar for residential purposes, because utilities are so cheap in our area.

Like most providers, MLGW has failed to maintain infrastructure, and I don’t believe they have any incentive to maintain our water and electric infrastructure. I assume they figure two, at most severe weather events per year doesn’t justify them updating decades old infrastructure.

They raise the rates, tell lies about what they plan to do, then throw bandaids on whatever is broken.  A little snow in January/February and a little power loss during tornado season doesn’t pressure them to do the right thing.  At least MLGW is better than the entire state of Texas when it comes to utilities.

Rumor has it, MLGW users are going to experience a rolling blackout tomorrow between 3-9pm.  Big fun!🤩

Always something when electric users are heating their outdoor hot tubs but I need to cut back on heating my 850 square foot home-

I believe you are right about the lack of grid upkeep but a blackout takes my only form of heat away-

All electric sometimes is not the best answer-

MLGW knows who the real drains are-

Our main heat is a gas pack. And, our backup is a ventless gas fireplace. It has saved our bacon a couple of times. And, it pretty much heats the whole house.

I don't think I would do an all electric house these days.

Maybe our local electric membership should consider investing some of their advertising budget into equipment upgrades. I see tv commercials from them all the time. Why would they need to advertise? Where else am I going to buy electricity??!!??

Tennessee's population has grown by 1.6 million residents in that time period. I can't imagine these companies have been great about updating infrastructure like they should have been. We've also had back to back severe cold weather events the last two winters.

And next year there will be more people, more cold weather, and more electronic items. I can’t imagine how long just the permit process would be to build a new electricity producing facility. I don’t mean a field of windmills or solar panels; I mean one that actually produces electricity.
