Jennings Info

I searched and got too many results as usual.

Someone gave my brother what appears to be a brand new Jennings 9mm pistol. Its chromed, in the original box, with paperwork, a trigger lock, and two mags. Its heavy enough to hammer nails with.

I know the crappy rep such guns have, but can someone give me some personal experience? Is my bro risking fingers if he shoots this thing? Is it going to blow up in his hand? Or is he just not going to be able to hit anything beyond arms length? And then is it going to fall apart spontainiously?

Give me some insight.

I have a Jennings .380.

Guy at work gave it to me cause he knew I was a gun guy. I happened to have several boxes of .380, so I took it.

I have put about 100 rounds through it and it fires. At least once. The darn thing stovepipes nearly every shot. Every other shot if I am lucky.

While I don't personally bestow the 'pot metal in your eye' reputation on them, I can not with a clear conscience recommend one for anything other than an 'I don't have a gun and this is all I can afford.' And even then, I don't suggest it if you think you are gonna need a second shot in a timely manner.

You should take the majority of them to heart.

One of the gang (who was that, I disremember) brought one to Norris he had taken "to boot" in some swap about 8 months ago.

Shot three rounds, cracked frame, and locked up. I mean, like welded shut. At least he still had all his fingers.

I think average service life is rated at 5 gas station stickups.

Less if it has to be used!

I have seen one shoot, but I have never shot one. The guy I saw shoot one, it surprisingly went bang everytime. He shot a full box of 9mm through it that day, and I do not recall a single malfunction. However, this was the second one he had. The first one would f-up somehow about every other shot. I think it is a crap shoot. No pun intended. I say put on some heavy leather gloves, and take her to town or at least as far as she will go.
