Haslam's statement sounds like someone willing to say anything for a few votes.
Rock-----Hard Place. Haslam-----McWherter.

+1

He says one thing to TFA and now the opposite to these folks...let the flip-flopping begin.

I'm voting for Haslam, but I'm not all warm and fuzzy about it.

^I'm pretty sure its 21 to purchase handguns or ammo through FFL dealers due to BATF rules not state law which allows purchase through private sale at 18.

BTW anyone see the new anti-Haslam commercial that says because he said he would sign a bill dropping the requirement for a permit to carry that he supported allowing convicted felons and domestic abusers to carry guns...Are people really that stupid? How does not requiring a permit authorize felons to carry a handgun?

Haslam's statement sounds like someone willing to say anything for a few votes. I don't know anyone who thinks the carry requirements are unfair. Two things to remember, anyone traveling to another state has to have a carry permit and bad guys don't have permits now. I don't think this is an issue.

I think that the carry requirements are not only unfair, but unconstitutional. What other parts of the constitution do you wish to shred! This is rhetorical no comment necessary. In many states, you're allowed to open carry without a permit. . . As it should be. . .

:P

I will have to agree with you the constitutional part of your statement. My thinking was along the lines of training. Ever been to a hand gun classes where several people in the class had never handled a handgun?

Um, duh! Because criminals stay up to date on the latest firearms laws so they can be sure not to violate them. If they don't have a permit, they won't carry. Similarly, that's why there has never been a shooting in a Gun Free Zone. Sheesh. The things you gotta 'splain to some people. ;)

my grandfather told me in wisconsin that one of if not the last gov campaign promises was to sign into law allowing handgun carry, he got voted in and veto'ed it.

FYI in advance wi and ill are the only 2 states that don't allow handgun carry

Apparently Hawaii doesn't either, in actual fact.

Kali ever so barely does.
