I got my HCP 23 days after fingerprinting. I called on day 14 and was told it would arrive 7-14 days later. 9 days later I became legal. :(

After reading all the posts about wait times and calls about the timeline from application to receipt, I decided to try something.

Since I already have two other Permits, when I went to get a TN permit, it was basically a renewal. And I was legal to keep carrying anyway, so there was no hurry.

I submitted application on March 10.

I waited 91 days, June 9, and called. The lady was very nice. It was magically issued that day and was told it would arrive in 7-10 days. It arrived in 9 days, June 18, for a total of 99 Days.

I am reasonably sure that the call on the 91st day sped it up, otherwise I might still be waiting.

So just to drive the point home further, I got fingerprinted on 1/19 and called last Tuesday on the 2nd, just to check (I couldn't take the suspense). The lady told me none to nicely that DOS had up to 90 days to send me my permit. So I called back today and was told my permit was issued on the 2/02 (Tuesday) and should be here any day now (WOHOO!). So I'm scoring this one up to making the call.

Issued 2-2 goes to the print farm where it sits for 10 days as they print it. Then from there it is mailed out to you which takes another 2-4 days. So dont count on getting it for at least another two weeks.

Mr. ________, your permit was issued on 2/3/10. The problem now is that due to such a large volume increase in permits being issued the print farm is in a backlog. As of today they have not downloaded your permit. Please allow at least two weeks for the permit to be printed and mailed to you. Thanks...

I wonder just what this "print farm" is, a couple of part timers with an Epson and hand laminator?

I mean, they can put a driver's license in your hand while you wait, just sayin...

I received mine in about 2 weeks after getting all my stuff set up. About 2 or 3 days after completing everything my wife got a PO Box because we were having trouble with the mail at our apt. I called to ask what I needed to do about it since the address was changing. They told me it had to ship to the address on my paper work and that it could not be forwarded to a new address. I had to speak to a supervisior and I explained that I was still at the same address but due to people breaking into the mailbox at the apt building I now have a PO Box. He said he would go ahead and put it through so it would go to the PO Box. I got my permit 8 days later in the mail. A friend did his 2 days before me and waited just over 2 months for his. Not saying it will work for everyone but thats how it worked out for me.

I would definitely make the call. As to this print farm business, its upsetting. I was getting all exited about getting to carry this weekend .

  • 3 weeks later...

Took me 66 days and that was without calling. Basically I think it's luck of the draw some seem to arrive very quickly and some take the entire 90 days. I'm sure they stay busy and with the increase in applications may be under staffed if someone is absent the wait has to increase. :D

I received a letter yesterday that will serve as my permit to carry in case my renewal doesn't make it in time. I sent the paperwork in 2nd week of February and it doesn't expire until May.

Thought that was a little strange. Maybe it's just a precaution ...
