it came about from an internet search for natural stains .....

suggestions included tobacco, coffee, black walnut hulls, etc.

I mixed up and heated a thick 1/2 cup of instant coffee with water and applied with a soft cotton rag ... rubbed all over and let it dry before repeating the process .... took about 4 times to get the color I wanted .... it darkens the edges where the imprinting is more than the smoother parts of the leather

I have the same holster from Cochise Leather in AZ, and my new Rossi Mare's Leg does not fit. Holster is way too tight! Any suggestions?

I would give Cochise Leather a call and see what they suggest. There are a couple of ways you can shape a holster to fit the gun, but it depends on the type of leather.

Use a spray bottle or sponge, and thoroughly dampen the leather. Give it a few minutes, then repeat. The leather will become pliable. A word of caution, when wet, it will take a stain from almost anything, so use a new sponge, clean rag, what have you, and make sure your hands are clean.

Wrap your Rossi in a layer of wax paper, and work it into the holster. Don't be afraid to shove on it a bit, you should not be able to break quality stitching very easily.

Allow to dry.

If you have questions shoot me a pm. Worst case, if the maker won't help you out, I have a '92 and will fit it for you.
