people who buy and carry a Glock have to understand one thing, Glock is a tool, old Hern Glock made a pistol for police and military, not for target shooting.When they ingenered the thing they had well trained shooters in mind , that gun was not made to be left on the kitchen table for wifes and kids to get their hands on it.Unlike all kind of fancy toys like Zig`s or Kimbers, Glock is not fancy by any means, it is made to kill, fast and simple, how about a safety on hammer??? just so we wouldn`t smash our fingers while hanging the picture?

44M;Will you please change your post from what a Glock is made for to "Its made to protect,or defend"?Anything is better than the way you said.

Not trying to nip-pick here but thats just said to much by antis in there reasoning to ban.

but technically, a Glock w/one in the pipe is condition 2, because a Glock is not cocked until the trigger is partially pulled.

I love that word "technically." As in, "technically a Glock is safe because it won't go off unless something pulls the trigger." :D

But I agree with you on this technical issue.

Isn't that how they ALL work???

I know where you're going with this and I basically agree, but technically, a Glock w/one in the pipe is condition 2, because a Glock is not cocked until the trigger is partially pulled. Back in the day, the ATF classified the Glock as a double action for this reason. Otherwise, the Glock probably never would have been imported. Just imagine, had it not been for the ATF, Mars would have at all nothing to bitch about!

This issue has been discussed elsewhere, but to summarize... the striker of a Glock when loaded is not at rest, either, and has been proven to have sufficient energy if only released from the partially-cocked position, not drawn back any further, to reliably ignite a primer... hence the Glock's failure of the DEA tests when it repeatedly discharged when thrown, although the trigger was obviously not pulled.

I agree that it's not identical to the 1911-based definition of Condition 0... but as I referred to it, it is "most like" that condition. Also, since the gun has no double-strike capability, it is not true DAO either. For example, another pistol which is commonly referred to as DAO, the Kel-Tec P3AT, is also pre-cocked and has no re-strike capability... is not truly DAO either, since, if the hammer is released from the short trigger reset which does not draw the hammer back at all from the pre-cocked position, it will still fire most primers somewhat consistently... and it is pre-cocked far less than a Glock (something like only 20%). So, I'm not just picking on Glocks here, I think the whole system of defining DAO and SAO is out of whack, when several pistols which operate in nearly identical manners are catagorized differently solely because of import laws, as you mentioned.

I guess it really doesn't matter how it's defined if it works... not everything has to fit in the 'box'. But there really needs to be something to call these types of pre-cocked systems other than the misleading DAO misnomer.

your basing your facts to a report that is what 15 years old.. Glock has already said they have made changes so this will no longer happen. Glock is like every other gun maker out there when they first came out of course their was bugs to work out and they worked them out.

So, if you have a glock the best way to make sure you don't get shot are;

1. Don't throw it. It isn't a boomerang and you're not going to like what's coming back at you.

2. Don't holster it. They don't like to be cooped up all day.

3. Don't pull back the slide to eject the bullet. It is like doing the heimlich on someone, it doesn't feel good and glocks will resent you for it.

4. If you're a professional, becareful because they are out to get you.
