From the article

"Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton classicon1.png of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company.   Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni."

Now there maybe nothing wrong here but to me it smells rotten....   Most transparent government in history my as$ will go down as one of the most corrupt.

Most of us get jobs by who we know. This is not a surprise, or a big deal. Like the website not working. A whole lot of people are trying to make hay with that. Websites go down ALL the time.

We need to keep our eye on the ball, thank God the site ISN'T working, and direct our attention to what will happen when it DOES get fixed, and what happens THEN to all of us.

Once the website is working, the slightly less than half the country that isn't on some form of welfare is going to discover just how porked they are.  Until then, it really doesn't matter unless we allow those bomb-throwing anarchist dems delay the individual mandate.

I love how they keep reporting the site will be running smooth by the end of November. And may really happen but you had 3 years to get it right from the start. It is just another example the government not being able to run anything. As far as being college friends don't care it happens on both sides of the aisle. But the government doesn't care if it gets fixed that just puts them that much closer to a single payer plan. We have a doctor in our town that left Canada and came to the States to practice because of social medicine. But don't worry if you like your plan and doctor you can keep them that is if you can afford it and they still practice medicine.

You are correct, especially in an employers market like we find ourselves in. My problem isn't so much that someone connected to the Obama's got the contract but rather they were awarded the contract without going through the bid process. I have done many jobs for the state of Florida and and the counties and towns within as well as a few for Georgia and Alabama and every single one of them required that any interested parties go through the bidding process. Every one of the bids we put in we could have done for 35%-45% less if it were a private job rather than government. So pretty must any job done for the government is padded like this even when there is competition so imagine how it is when someone is allowed to forego the bid process... Not to mention, Obama and his minions can spec everything out just the way they want it and no one else ever gets to see the details... The government should never be allowed to contract work out and spend tax payer dollars without going through the bidding process! This is yet another slap in the face of We The People and yet there are far to many of us that are okay with getting our cheek stung!

Oh yea, Happy Saturday everyone lol

It pays to have well-connected friends in high places (...especially in gubmt...)... If you are on the inside it's "good business".... If you are on the outside; its "crony capitalism"....  If ya are like us ordinary citizens and are footing the bill for it; its fascism.... Obama, the dems, and the blue nose establishment republican "opposition"  aint socialists; they are fascists.... It's the "Chicago way" in action....

Remember, there's an election soon... Vote early and often... The dems and the establishment republicans will....

Having an "inside man" always makes it easier to get the inside track, that's for sure. When I had my business in Florida, part of what we did was building retaining and sea walls in which some of those were constructed along roadways. At the time, my first cousin was one of the top engineers for the state and we had many opportunities to place bids as a formality and get the job no matter where we fell in the bid order as well as it being fairly easy to find out what others had bid through another person well known to me. Even though there was a lot of extra money to be made going that route my uncle and myself made the decision to resist the temptation of going that route and I never once regretted it. That being said, there is only a small percentage of folks that would choose the route we did. If there is this kind of temptation on the local and state level, I can only imagine the kind of tempting " deals" one would come across at the federal level. Now introduce the lack of character that liberals and many republicans bring to the table and you land right where we are today, back door deals everywhere you look, lowly citizens be damned.
I wouldn't have expected anything more out of the morally bankrupt and characterless Obama's.

I guess that you choose the news that fits your mood. I'm still upset about the Cozy little relationship that Cheney had with Halliburton and how his little circle of friends benefited from two fear induced wars. I am certain that the thieves that we place in authority over us love that we continue to point fingers while they rob the taxpayers blind.

The American people invest too much time, emotion, trust and loyalty into the two major political parties while they invest absolutely no loyalty to us.

It should come to no ones surprise what these people do. It's just harder to swallow when it's not the crooks that you wanted in office. Edited by LINKS2K

The fact is that for a long time (...since the civil war; and even before...); insiders have been cuttin deals and makin money with gubmt connections... We can quibble about who the latest one is; but it's all the same.... The fact is that insider deals are a part of this country's political history; and part of most every other country's political history as well...

Folks need to think thru these things very clearly and soberly... The truth is that there is no "threshold of dishonesty and insiderism"... You either make the decision to be honest and ethical in all your dealings; or you make the decision to do the "insider" thing...

This whole thing, at the end of the day, is a personal ethical decision... Honesty and integrity at the individual and corporate level are a personal choice... You are either honest or not...   Sadly, a goodly portion of folks of all political stripes and positions great and small; make the wrong choice...

We cannot as an individual, a society, or as a nation say one thing and do the other... When you do those things, you put on full display the fact that you are, in fact, a hypocrite without honor...   If you worship the god of money, you can be bought; the only thing left to haggle about is the price...

Could it be that one of the roots of our nation's problems is this very issue?... I think it is... Do not expect your brother, your spouce, your trading partner, your child, or your local politician to be ethical if you, yourself are not ethical....

Yep, and the next First Lady will also live high off the hog on the taxpayer. They will continue to do it until we have a First Husband and then you are really going to see some pimped out vacations. Wait until Bill Clinton and his crew have to start getting away from it all. Edited by LINKS2K

I'd have a hard time saying it better myself! I completely agree, lack of honesty, integrity and a good strong character makes any man (or woman) unfit for any office or anything else for that matter. I dare to say that there is no one on earth right now that has never succumbed to the temptation to compromise those three things but what separates the trustworthy from the not is who owns their mistakes and tries not to repeat them and who gets away with it and becomes even more emboldened to keep doing it again and again.. It's a sad time we live in....

They struck the very chord that prompted the post... I'm very proud to know folks that, in fact, make a conscious decision to be honest and do the right thing....  I'm honored to know such men and women who have made the decision to be ethical and honest in all their dealings...period... business, personal, family......

Integrity is a valuable commodity; and continues to be under great assault everywhere in our culture...  Pop Culture and the political culture has done much to murder ethical behavior... My personal favorite is the old clintonian axiom that says "....there's no connection between marital fidelity and ability to govern..."... I say "...baloney..."... If you lie to your closest confident; it aint a big step to lying to people ya dont know.... Only the weak minded and the willfully ignorant would believe this sort of thing; but there is a goodly portion of people that seem to think this sort of thing is ok... We can all instantly think of other examples in government, pop culture, entertainment, and sports of these "indiscretions" and "mistakes" ... They are everywhere we look; and the media does a pretty good job of justifying the actions of their "pets" and vilifying the actions of their "imagined enemies"; which is an un-ethical action in and of its self....

Many among us have believed the lie that says that "business ethics" are somehow different from "personal ethics"... It simply aint so.... At the end of the day you are either honest or not; and that honesty (...or lack thereof...) is on full display to everyone; from kids, spouse, family, business associates, on and on.....

Like you, i spent a goodly amount of time in the construction business with a very large organization... I've seen favors passed out and insider deals made... At the end of the day, both parties are the losers... Today's "truth" can suddenly turn into tomorrows "...i changed my mind..."... Insider deals are built on lies and "quid pro quos" that compromise both the parties involved... Those who engage in them both become more dirty, more hypocritical, cynical, and more susceptible to being prosecuted or fired by their political or business enemies... It's a pretty miserable way to live, in my view....

The fact is that if ya dont start these things; ya dont have to quit 'em or feel their effects... You can look your family, your business partners, your employers, the world in general, and your Maker (...if ya believe in  Him..) in the eye and have them fully understand that you word is, in fact, your bond... Men and women of this caliber are a valuable commodity, and are a great treasure...   Thanks for doin the right thing...

Well in full disclosure, I went through a time when doing things the right way was the furthest thing from my mind but I did see how that worked out and started changing some things because when you come out on top of a dishonest transaction, someone else got the short end and that's not a good thing to have hanging over your head. Changing habits isn't always an easy thing to do and they die hard but I will say, every time I did something the right way, it came that much easier the next and pretty soon that is a main concern in any transaction be it business or personal. But like you hit on, there's always someone watching, maybe another human or maybe the man above but your always being watched.

The Obama's have no qualms we being the cause of another man's pains, troubles and failures and most of the members of congress are in the same boat with them. I think We The People collectively have let our good practices slip by the way side to the point that dishonesty, lack of morals and poor ethics are the norm. I think that is why "We" sit back quietly because who wants to be the one to chastise them for something we ourselves do. It does strike me as funny though, we're willing to let everything good go to pot but by all means we don't want to be a hypocrite!
