Electronic Ear-Pro recs?

What are some recommendations for Electronic Ear-Pro that do not require you to double up with plugs to get reasonable noise reduction (require NRR 26 or better), and are designed such you can also get a good cheekweld on rifle/shotgun stocks?

I'm currently using the Surefire EP5 plugs, which are NRR 26...so they are kind of my reference point since I like the protection they offer, but the downside being I can't hear when people try to talk to me.

Not sure what you are looking for but the Peltor muffs I have filter the shotgun pretty well...and I can hear people speaking really well even while at the indoor range...they have functioned well outdoors shooting every thing from pistol rounds to 7.62x54...

I have the Peltor Tactical 7S (NRR 24). I like them, but they do get in the way of a good cheek weld a little bit. I usually don't mind, but if I'm going to be shooting long guns for a long time, I'll switch over to plugs + low-profile earmuffs. When I'm shooting real close to someone else who is shooting larger calibers (esp. indoors), I'll put plugs on under the Peltors and turn up the volume a little. Does a good job then of cutting down the gunfire while still allowing me to hear normal conversations.

 

When I want to get REALLY quiet, I use plugs plus some 3M muffs from Home Depot with a 32 NRR. Not electronic, but great protection.

Are there low profiles that still have good muffling? Or do low profiles generally require using plugs under. I do most of my shooting indoors but trying to look ahead when taking more classes so that I can have hearing protection + ability to hear people talk.

I have two sets of those. They don't get in the way of anything. I normally use them without plugs

FWIW, I have a set of Peltor Tactical 6S muffs. I absolutely love them. My only issue is that my overly large cranium would like a little more adjustment in them.

I have two pair. One Peltor Com tac set which wasnt listed on any hand receipt when we went to turn in equipment and a pair of MSA/Sordin Supreme Pro that I bought. Both are good. Neither appear to go to that NRR level. I prefer the Supremes.

I have a pair of these too, but the Calwells work better for me. I think its a lot more about fit than quality, though. If I dink around with the Leights, I can make them work.

Electronic muffs don't factor the "real world" NRR correctly, for whatever reason.

 

I have SWATTAC's and love them.

I wear SureFire plugs loosely in my ears with either Peltor CommTac II's or MSA Sordins over them.  It's the only way to go IMO.  You don't get that hearing back.  Jealously guard it.

Maybe I'll just double up lol. Certainly don't want my hearing to get worse and if the the slim electronics can amplify talking above my Surefire plugs, then I can live with that...now I just gotta decide between Caldwell or Peltor for the price, or jump up to the MSA Sordins. For those that have tried the Sordins, what is the big difference the Supreme Basic (analog) and Supreme Pro-X (digital)? Am I at a disadvantage for wanting to save $100 to get the basics?

I can only speak for the Caldwells, but you don't need much more than them. If I use plugs under them, they're the basic foam ones from the Home Depoot.
