Lower parts kits and TGO Lowers

What or who's lower parts kits are you guys using in your TGO lowers?

If you plan on using the trigger that comes with the LPK, I prefer Stag Arms. That's assuming you don't want some sort of enhance or two-stage trigger. I've yet to find a better stock trigger than the Stag.

I bought a Rock River kit with Trigger, but will probably end up replacing the trigger with a Geiselle.

I got a geiselle trigger and the LPK without trigger was 29.95 from Joe Bobs..

I don't want to hijack this thread, so please point me to another thread if it has been discussed, but what do you guys think about Timney versus Geiselle triggers?  I'm building a range rifle for punching paper.

In most things, you get what you pay for, but not always. Where does the LPK fit into that spectrum?

 

Assuming you're not using the trigger (or getting an LPK w/o trigger) or the A2 grip, does the manufacturer of the rest of the LPK make any real difference? Brownell's has the Colt LPK w/o trigger or grip for $159.99 and one from DPMS with grip but no trigger for $35.99 ($29.99 w/o either). They have several choices in between those 2 prices. I know DPMS isn't considered high-end for their complete ARs, but does it matter for the little springs, roll pins, etc. that come in the LPK?

DPMS part kits are great, even if you're stuck using their trigger.

The place I've most often noticed lower parts kits varying in the little bits is in the diameter of the roll pins for the trigger guard and mag catch.(some are looser/tighter than others) Since the TGO lowers eliminate the need for both of those items I didn't anticipate any problems, and as expected none were encountered. I used a PSA lower parts kit in one lower and a P-tac in the other and no issues with either aside from my desire to improve the triggers with a stone and some polishing compound.(both triggers will eventually be replaced but it wasn't in the pre-christmas budget)

It doesn't "need" one as the threads are more or less the same, but why not use one?

You can use either milspec or commercial. The stock just has to match the tube

I honestly think building this rifle is harder than working on a Harley!

  Ironworks Bare Bones LPK  He has a drop down menu you can choose options for grips, trigger, trigger guard, and safeties. Haven't ever worked on a Harley, and have only put one complete AR together. The hardest part is choosing options, and finding the springs and detents when they launch, and finding the money to put the next one together. I would like to build one for my wife and daughter, whether they "need" one or not.

It's really not. It can just seem that way the first time out.

If you've worked on a Harley (other than polishing those acres of chrome), the lower is a walk in the park. If I was doing another, I reckon I could do it in about 10 minutes without breaking a sweat.
