It's Greg's fault.

Recommended Posts

After a lot of looking, I've finally got my hands on a 'Dream Rifle' I've wanted one for ages, but never been in a position to be able to buy or trade into a good condition Savage '99.
I've seen & handled many, but they were never as good as I was led to believe, or crazy expensive.
Every time Gregg posted a photo of his, I wept a little with envy.
I now own my very own! It's a 1946 model 99EG in .300Savage & I couldn't be happier!

Have you shot it yet? My EGs will print 1" 100 yard groups with factory Remington or Winchester ammo. Someone took good care of that one.

You and my wife have something in common....she says everything is "Greg's fault!"

Took it out for it's inaugural trip this morning. I could only get 50ish yds & it was blowing a gale, but so far, I'm really liking what I see.
I LOVE the feel of the action, compared to all my other levers. Silky, glassy smooth, right up to that final 'click' where it locks up like a vault door. Edited by robtattoo

Weaver 2 piece mounts and low rings should be just the ticket. I would keep the scope were I you.

What kind of mount is that? Is it a tip over? If so, I might be interested in it.
