Killed my first deer MONSTER

Recommended Posts

WOW!!!!!!!!!! That's one helluva deer by anyone's standards. Congratulations. I'll bet you were some kind of excited.

The guy that has been taking me hunting couldn't get over it. He's still going on about how nice it looks. Rack is big and tall, thick at the base. Perfectly symmetrical too. I've only been hunting since Saturday haha.

Dang! That ole '06 blowed his Johnson clean off! Lol!

Lol yeah this was after we gut him and the taxidermist dropped everything else he was doing just to skin mine for me! Thanks to Donahue Taxidermy for working with me. I was afraid of dropping the deer off in the cooler at the meat market. They've had a few heads stolen in the past so Donahue's really helped me out.

In case anyone is still following this, I got 90 pounds of meat off this deer. Figure double that probably was what it weighed dressed and so it puts it close to that 200 pounds; what I guessed it was to start with.

THIS is what I'm all about.  Filling that freezer.  I've just finished the last of my deer, my first, that I shot last year.  I did not get out this year at all, so now I'm out of meat :(.  My favorite is the shoulders.  I really like to make deer stew of of them.

So far crock pot stew is all we've experimented with.
