My father in-law is a small business owner of a convenience store in the West Nashville area. Over the past few years business has declined a great deal. Some of if may have to do with the economy but a larger chain moved in across the street about a year and half ago. He is open early in the morning (6am) and offers breakfast sandwiches and coffee every morning which he goes in at 3am to make the breakfast. He has your cold soft drinks, water, juice and beer. He also has many other things for you around the house. He has owned it around 10+yrs that I can remember. The business has been there a long time (the 70s I think) He doesnt know Im doing this and hopefully you dont tell him I did this. But as a country we need more owner operated businesses like his. He is a great guy and would help anyone if possible. I just ask that if you are in the area to stop by and buy a Snickers or a Coke. Show some support to the little businesses out there. Corner of Charlotte Pike and Davidson Dr. across the street from Wal-Mart. Btw, you didnt see this post.....1 point

Most people do not like things they dont understand or know about. Some people wont buy anything that is "under priced" A "Good" customer almost always gets good customer service.1 point

Best thing he could do is back Romney and give his reins to Rand. I'm sure the GOP knows exactly which direction Ron Paul wants to take them, it's the public that's not accepting his message. Also, if he gets speech time at the convention I sure hope he remains clam and not get excited. Seeing him waving his arms around screeching that the sky is falling will really put a dampener on the evening.1 point

Its not just the parent though. My parents were very, very good. And, in the end, I turned out OK as well. But as a teenager, did they really know what I was doing 24-7? No. At some point, 13, 15, 17, a teen begins to be places they should not, doing those things they should not. I did them, most of us did. Rob someone with a gun, no that never crossed my mind, never thought of going off to hurt someone or even damage property, but we did plenty of things that had our parents (or other adults) known would have been "bad" (for us, only victims would have been ourselves!). Thing is, my parents thought they knew where I was, who was there, and what I was doing. Often, they only had the 1 thing right (who I was with). We often found the means to go out and about, and do stuff. Its not their fault for not knowing where we were.... its darn near impossible to do that with a teen unless you lock them in a cage. Which leads to this pretty basic but ugly truth: some people are just no good. Good parents, decent lifestyle, no reason to turn bad, but they do. Other kids have everything against them, and turn out to be productive, well adjusted and great people. Parents are a HUGE factor, but there are plenty of times when good parents produce sorry offspring. Can't blame the parents in every case. In this case? Maybe, maybe not, there isnt enough to say. Sounds like he WAS a good kid. It only takes a few min of peer pressure from the local low-downs to undo a decade of parenting --- and that happens all too often. It only takes screwing up once to get caught and ruin your life, or end it. Was this the first time, or the 100th? In the end, it does not matter.1 point

The Patriot Guard Riders do a great thing. I have a friend that is a PGR. He told me about Westboro showing up to a soldiers funeral in Algood. PGR intercepted Westboro's plans and arrived in the Walmart parking lot where they were supposed to convene. The sheriffs department told Westboro that they didn't have enough man power to protect them if the PGR decided to attack them. Westboro quickly got back on their buses and got out of there.1 point

I am finding I carry my Sp101 more and more. Maybe it's the age 58. Maybe it's living in Knoxville and not feeling like I will need 20 rounds for self defence. I would like to take a class on carrying the subbie, but all I have found are out of state.1 point

I voted my conscience in the primaries and voted for Paul. If anyone would like to see the result of an all-out Paul campaign study some history and Google Ross Perot. Is was only 20 years ago so it's not that much of a stretch to see how a 3rd candidate will only guarantee a democratic victory. The chances now are extremely high Obama will be re-elected. Suck it up and support the only game in town. It makes me sick but that is the stark reality.1 point

If you want to know how and why the left tries this regulatory BS, read Obama's regulatory Czar's book "Nudge, by Cass R. Sunstein and Richard H, Thaler. You see, if they can't ban guns, they'll try to tax your ammunition (Nudge) so high like they did tobacco, that you'll say "screw that, I'm not paying that much" and not buy it or give up the hobby. But since they knew they couldn't get by with that on Ammo, they tried the environmental regulatory side of the Government machine to drive up the cost of your ammo. You see, if they can make the manufacturers switch to more expensive bullets, that will drive the cost up as well. Same result and add in the demand for ammo right now and it would be really expensive to shoot or stock up. The government has a lot of tools at its disposal to Nudge you out of whatever they want and in to what they want you to do. See, if you want a hybrid car or solar panels on your roof, they give you tax breaks and rebates. I've heard tax rebates of up to $7,500 on electric hybrids. A quick google search turned that up^ But you get the point. Our Government is not working for the people anymore, it is working for that top down control over the people much like other Socialist and Communist countries do. They'll regulate, tax and Nudge you right in line where they want you.1 point

Maybe my use of "tin foil" was a bit harsh; I actually feel sad for the "govt is watching me" or "the world will end on 12/12/12" groups. That's just one more stress to deal with in their lives that I don't. I have enough problems worrying if the plumber is going to overcharge me or will gas prices go up before I take my summer vacation, etc. No need to add further stressors in my life for things i consider far-fetched.1 point

What government agent is going to be interested in tracking my travels, cell phone calls, computer usage, etc? There is NOTHING to see with me, move along folks! Also, where is the manpower going to come from to conduct surveillance on every US citizen? Will there be one government agent for every three citizens, five citizens? We would need to create a new government agency (bureau of snooping affairs?) just to watch everyone and staff it with 60,000,000 employees. I think some people need to loosen the tin foil hats.1 point

To my knowledge I have never heard of a manufacturer that claimed the warranty period starts the second it leaves their doors. I always figured it was understood it started from the date of purchase by the consumer. Then agian, there is a reason alot fewer places do any business with Arsenal anymore, either. Frankly thats a level of bull#### I have never seen before.1 point

It’s just a tool to take criminals off the street. They are catching criminals that have warrants. But instead of an Officer checking individual plates he is using a computer that can do it much quicker. They are checking data that they already have access to. Catching people with traffic warrants might not be too glamorous, but catching a dangerous felon before he hurts one of your family members might be. Dangerous elusive people are taken down on traffic stops. If they have the technology to check a thousand cars as they drive by and pick out the ones with wants and warrants; more power to them. I would say though, that I would think it would keep the Officers pretty busy hauling people off to jail. I doubt it would take very long to get a hit.1 point

I'd be afraid it would snag on something and get jerked out of the holster. Seems like it would have to be relatively long and would likely get in the way or get tangled should an abnormal situation arise.1 point

You know that old saying... "I thought you went to crap and the hogs ate you." Well I was hunting hogs in south Florida and got the urge. You know the kind of urge that a weekend of beer drinking, potted meat and slim jims can put on you? I slipped off into some secluded palmettos, dropped trousers, including my belt holster and got to relieving myself. I am not sure if was impeccable timing or if the smell brought them running in, but I quickly found myself surrounded by a sounder of pigs. As soon as I heard them I started working to get my Super Blackhawk out of it's holster. So if you can imagine... squatted in the woods, pants at ankles, right hand holding a scrub oak, left hand holding a .44mag revolver, me steady praying that the hogs move on cause if I have to shoot, I just know I am going to fall backwards and I really didn't want to fall backwards... One little boar hog finally popped up about 20 yards in front of me, looked at me cross-eyed and split the scene.1 point
