  1. I leave the chamber empty... for no other reason than I am used to charging a long-gun as soon as I pick it up, either to bring it into action or verify the chamber is empty or loaded... I never assume that a gun I pick up isn't loaded, but I also will never assume that the gun I pick up is ready to go, either, if it has been out of my sight and I need it to work... nothing worse than hearing a click instead of a bang because I thought I didn't need to rack a shell/cartridge in. I do this with pump and semi-auto... I plan to pick up one of the new Stoeger Double-Defense SxS shotguns, and it will be kept with both chambers loaded, safety on, but it will also be kept in a manner I always know is under my control.
  2. I eat right 6 days out of the week, take my vitamins, run occasionally, and spend 20-30min on the bowflex every day.

    9mm AR15

Same here... the recoil doesn't feel quite right. I'd rather build a .223 gun and buy a .22lr conversion for cheap plinking (which is what I did).
  6. This is one reason I have increasingly become a fan of firearms (or anything, for that matter) for which parts are readily available, and are straightforward to fix myself. It may be a couple years before the M&P enjoys good parts availability... just like the XD line finally has after several years of similar stories.

    XD or XDm

The biggest differences between the XD and XDm are the look and ergonomics (obviously), then the magazine capacity (aimed at competition shooters), and then the modified trigger bar setup, which both reduces overtravel and removes the necessity to pull the trigger when disassembling the slide from the frame. The match barrel in the XDm is noticably more accurate than the XD, but, I did not enjoy shooting the XDm as much as I had several standard XDs that I had previously owned. For one, I did not like the grip as much, and the recoil characteristics did not feel as balanced. So, unless I was going to be doing competition shooting regularly with the gun, and was prepared to tune the trigger and recoil springs to suit my taste, I wouldn't recommend the XDm over the XD.
  8. Lol... I remember reading stories like these on thehighroad years ago till the tears flowed. Reminds me of when I got bored one day and posted this on packing.org back in '07 for s***s & giggles:
  9. I'll double-second that! A generous man who lifted my spirits as well during a difficult time. My hat is off to Todd, Dustin and CIS. Thanks guys! ...and plus, he looks damn sexy in shorts
  10. Only when I change carry guns... and since I've been carrying the Glock 19 it has primarily been IWB in an MTAC, but I recently purchased a Safariland ALS belt holster for OWB carry under the jacket and I love it.
  11. I Love It... this was priceless.
  12. Those who look for something to be offended about will always find it. The internet is simply a celebration of that universal fact. Maybe we should take down the thread about Nathan Bedford Forrest...? lol... But realistically. Vulgarity and personal attacks are unacceptable... I'm simply not the PC police.
  13. This is Sparta!
  14. The username "Drew" is already taken... lemme know how you would like to make it a bit more unique and I'll take care of it.
  15. I don't see them removing busts of Andrew Jackson, even though he was the president who implemented the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which led to the Trail of Tears, as we know it... It's the selectiveness of such acts which makes this PC, and thus total BS. I don't care for the Klan any more than I do the Black Panthers, etc... I just would rather that history be remembered completely, and without bias, for both the good that was done and the evil, without attempting to white*wash it. Removing a bust makes no difference to me, honestly... but the reason does, even if the guy was a total racist douche. *or insert your favorite shade.

    Question...

Selective discounts are just a way of influencing the type of clientèle your business has... it's no different than saying "everyone else has to pay more for the priviledge of patronizing my establishment". No different than a bar/club/etc having a 'ladies night'... It really doesn't matter to me either way... I don't buy it if I don't need it, and if i buy anything it's from whomever treats me best (which are rarely those with some silly, selective discount system).
  17. I bundled up and went for a ride yesterday... Was a bit chilly, but was nice to be back in the saddle at least once while I was off work.
  18. Amen.
  19. 10mm is arguably the most powerful semi-auto cartridge which is 'practical' to carry for self-defense (as far as the size of the gun and controllability of recoil is concerned). 45 Super is arguably an equal and .460 Rowland is more powerful... but .460 Rowland is punishing and requires an effective recoil system and compensator. As far as practicality goes, for target shooting... it's like shooting .40s&w for the cost of .45acp. Just depends on the size hole you want to make, since none if any of the target loads are as hot as the self defense and hunting loads.
  20. Quoted for truth.

    .357 SIG

Actually... .357sig is more likely to expand because of it's velocity, thus less likely to overpenetrate (which is one reason several federal and state agencies use this caliber). ...and price-wise, just going by bulk FMJ costs (say from georgia-arms, instead of superficially inflated retail prices) 9mm 1000rd = $240 .357sig 1000rd = $300 .40s&w 1000rd $260-280 .45acp 1000rd $330-390 .45gap 1000rd $330-340 I see little advantage... $15 per 50 of sig vs. $12 or $13 for 9mm and .40 respectively, or $16-$18 for .45. It's right in the middle of the pack.

    .357 SIG

I carried it for a long time in many different platforms. It is one of the more inherently accurate cartridges I've fired in a pistol... and always feeds reliably. It's loud... but recoil itself is on par with .40s&w. It's no more expensive to shoot than .45acp, and as difficult as that cailber is to find nowadays, you're better off as far as availability goes. Barrier penetration is impressive, and so are the reported terminal effects. I'm sure that I will carry one again someday.
  24. I wouldn't depend on the hope of reduced penetration to prevent a loved one on the other side of a wall from being injured... that doesn't make any sense. Load up on the most effective cartridge and follow the 4 rules (which includes being sure of your target and what is beyond it).
  25. Yep... They do suck. I'd like to say I have completely boycotted them, but I did order a couple things from them that noone else had in stock recently.
