No biggie ... soldiers don't drop their weapons ... unless they're French.
-
Nah, they wouldn't have them in a steamplant, but some civil service worker who cranks valves open and closed all day ... now that may be the kind of job to get ya steamed.
-
Never say never. If there's a Steamplant Shootout III, it will make the national news as another disgruntled government worker who went rogue. But surely won't involve the Gallatin Gun Club!

You hitting Paris at a great time! That place is loaded with bluegill and shell crackers. They should be on the beds big time. I've fished Eagle Creek with great success, but you can hit any of the back coves, look for the shallow water and you'll find beds.

I had a box of Black Talon in the 90s, if I only knew ... I would've bought a truck load! We did test it in some ice blocks, they opened into deadly petals. But it's really turned into mythical hype. I handgun hunt for deer and have used Ranger T-Series successfully for that, but I've also used Hornady XTP and they work just as well. Both open up great at low pistol velocities.

I sort of understand your concern John, but the two ranges are 130 miles apart! Just say'n. I actually planned on doing the Bowling Green bug match ... but then the monsoon came.

I lost my dad in '91 when I was 36. I'm 62 now and am reminded of his legacy he left me everyday in the life that I live. I'm also reminded of the good as I watch my children and grandchildren grow up. That bond will remain forever for you as well 45, cherish it.

My nod to the .44, I've put yotes down with those big bullets every time. Not always the case with my .17, sometimes it did, and sometimes it didn't. Then I got my .221 Fireball and it works every time!

Wife and I saw him play his Christmas special at the Ryman three years ago, man, he rocked the house!

Can we just come for the rifle match Robert? Approx time? -
Good luck Joe. It was always a pleasure dealing with you.

Noon tomorrow (Sun). Weather looks great!

Agree, you need some expansion to open the hole for some trailing. You don't always see them fall, and in thick woods, you may need to rely on that blood trail to find your venison. The 110 Sierra's I mentioned above were hollow points, and they both blew through (rib cage shots, both of them). One at 55 yards and one at 70 yards. The exit holes were finger size. They chrono'd at 2100 FPS. One buck went 15 yards, the other about 30. Great blood trail out of the 30 yard buck, double pumping like a red spray can.

I used my Ruger M77 chambered in 7.62x39 last season to take two bucks. Worked like a charm with 110 gr Sierra's. Both rounds were 'pass throughs'. I wanted to pre-test it before making it a grandson rifle. Now he won't have any excuses but pilot error if he doesn't bag one.

Nice rifle. I love mine, it's an older JM 1894 in .357. I load .38s with 105gr lead bullets going around 640 fps. It became my new plinking gun after .22 ammo go so ridiculous. I'd take all the negative garble on the internet with a grain of salt. Remington has been in business a long time, and if something is not right, I'm sure they'll stand behind it. Your rifle looks like a good example of quality. Enjoy it.

I asked it because I'M VINTAGE! (just like you Mark) Click "like" if you grew up watching the TV show "Combat" with Sgt. Saunders and his "Tommy" and Kirby with his BAR.

Great stuff! Have anything World War II 'ish? Like a MG42, BAR or Thompson?

Any Rifle Match - Gallatin Gun Club - 20 Aug
221 Fireball replied to DMark's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Dang, I will try my best to make the next one, if you do that "open thing" again. Sounds like fun. -
Geez Toby, you could've started a fresh post rather than dig up a thread from 2014! LOL I heard they have a new range, not far from the old one. I'd like to go back myself.

Don't worry about the hog regs too much, once they really over populate like in Texas and neighboring states, the DNR will be begging for people to hunt them. Watch "Pig Bomb" on Discovery and you'll see where we're headed.

Oh my gosh, what do these people eat? Plastic? Frogs legs are yummy, and there's plenty of frogs to spare. What get's me is how uninformed these folks are. Mistaking an endangered toad for a frog? No, there's a big distinction there, and habitat differences. Giggers know what's good, and legal to harvest ... bullfrogs only, period. I dined on a lot of them when I was younger and more ambitious to wade ponds all night. Only problem was what took you four hours to gig, you could eat in 4 minutes! Nothing better!
