Best "quality" cheap ammo right now is at Palmetto State Armory they have brass cased FEDERAL XM193 (55gr) for $5.49 per 20rd box. If you want cheaper and care nothing about Brass the Silver Bear(zinc coated) is very good but its normally about $4.50-4.99 so not a huge savings

Academy has the 223 version (i bought a box) for $19.99 (20rds) fps out of a 24" barrel (why does Hornady always cheat?) for the 55gr is 3240fps at the muzzle.
