Rapist, murderer, okay maybe depending on the situation. Shoplifter? Nope, not me, I'll let that stuff walk. My $0.50 bullet isn't worth Belk's $500 worth of clothing. And it sure as hell isn't worth an innocent bystanders life if things go bad.

Stupid. I spent 6 years working loss prevention. Petty theft like this is a very minimal loss. Most retail stores mark up clothing exponentially. They really are not worried that a shirt walking out the door is going to break the business. It is employee theft that will shut a business down. I passed up making apprehensions several times if we were busy and the doorways were filled with people because I didn't want a shoplifter going berserk and getting a shopper injured. To fire upon someone because they were trying to get away is unthinkable, the guy should have his gun and permit confiscated for life. These are the people that we do not need having guns, they give the rest of us a bad name.

Never thought about this. The first stop I make on a long road trip (800+ miles) is Cracker Barrel. You have to put down a deposit on the book but they rent it to you for $3.50 a week and return your deposit when you return the book. Been doing that for a while, I'll try this next time though. A good audiobook makes a day of driving easy.

I'd like to have their jobs but I don't guess I'm qualified since I'm honest, always do what I say, could care less about money so long as my basic needs are met, and I hate golf. Call me what you want but if I had an invitation to meet/ hang out with the president I would decline. He is nothing but a threat to America, why, if I was an elected official, why would I want to go hob nob around with him? I would feel like I had some explaining to do to my constituents after fraternizing with that piece of garbage.

Looks like everyone here knows how to shoot a deer properly. Only meat that has a wound channel in it when I get done is the rib cage and there just ain't much meat on that.

I think that we should all be able to walk around with an ounce of weed and a high capacity mag.

I don't know how much truth there is to this because it came from the mouth of a Kirby salesman but supposedly you can never sell your Kirby and if you do and ever take it in for service and the serial number is not registered to you Kirby can reposes it. Seems far fetched to me and it seems impossible to enforce. In actuality I think he just said that to deter me from buying one off of Craigslist.

is partial view from under shirt legal?

I'm a skinny guy and have a hard time concealing without a winter coat. I OC at work but when I go into town it gets covered with a T-shirt most of the time. I don't worry about it. No one has ever said anything. It's pretty obvious and noticeable but most people don't pay attention anyway. It's surprising how many people don't even pay attention when you are OCing. -
Really good ideas. I've been wanting a sign, seems about everyday I'm home during the week someone is knocking on the door trying to sell something.

I know I should but I don't, by the time I get home from work I'm tired of carrying it around, I lock the doors and my gun goes on top of my dresser. When they showed up I happened to be wearing athletic shorts, and my Glock just keeps pulling them down :yuck:! It's a balance of safety vs comfort and I live in a neighborhood that I feel pretty good about so I usually do not hesitate to take my gun off when I get home for the day. I think I'll just start answering the door with the 870 in hand. That's always been my policy, my wife is very trusting and has problems telling people to get off the porch. I think after this experience and the talk we had afterwards she is seeing things more my way now. Funny thing is we don't have a shred of carpet in this house. Before we went to bed I asked her "How would we feel right now if we had just dropped two grand on a vacuum cleaner and we don't even have carpet, because I don't think I would be sleeping tonight if we did." Also the way they sent a respectable looking person to the door and then sent in the crackheads showed her that things are not always as they seem. The salesman was very pushy and very intense. Luckily I'm really good at finding holes in the facts which is what I finally did in order to shut him down.

Last night my wife and I were spending some quality time together doing some projects around the house. Specifically, we were hanging curtain rods in a front bedroom. We just bought this house and still are not completely moved in. We see a Suburban pull up out front and a very nice looking young girl gets out and rings the doorbell. Since I will not answer the door for people that I do not know my wife decided to answer the door. The girl says that they have started a new business cleaning floors and that they would buff the living room floor for free if we would fill out a short survey. I didn't like it from the get go but the next thing I know two pill head looking guys are in my house with a Kirby vacuum cleaner and the good looking girl disappears. It was already 8:00 when they rang the doorbell. Before she answered the door I told her not to buy anything. I go about my business and was very short with the sales people, although I was trying to keep an eye on both of them, fortunately, since we are still moving there is not really anything of value in the house, and I really did feel like we were being scoped. Two hours later the guy has knocked the price down to $1700 + tax. I don't make impulse buys and don't finance stuff, and honestly we have put a few thousand dollars in the house over the last few weeks so I didn't feel like a $1700 vacuum cleaner was a good financial move. The wife however was starting to bite on it. Eventually the salesman tells me that Kirby is certified by the Heart and Lung Association, which I don't really know much about, but because of that the purchase price is 100% tax deductible because of medical conditions that my daughter has. I tell him to show me that in writing. He then tells me that because I am self employed I can clean my car with it and write it off as a business expense. I know better, and a realize that he is not answering my questions, but instead offering other solutions. At this point I just want these people out of my house as it is already after 10pm. Guy tells me that if he doesn't make this sell then he's not going to reach his quota this month, blah, blah, not my problem. I do a quick search on Bing and find that there are several people that have been told that the vacuum can be taken as a deduction due to medical conditions, yet when they did their taxes that was not the case. I showed the salesman what I had found, at that point he just kind of gave up. I felt violated, but not nearly as violated as I would have if we had bought the stupid thing. The guy asked for a drink once and my wife gave him a glass of water. About 30 minutes later he asked if we had anything besides water, and my wife gave him one of my beers. I've been telling her that I want to get a no soliciting sign to put by the doorbell, I think after last night that purchase will be approved. There was just so much wrong with the whole situation, the whole thing just kind of ticked me off. I think my wife now also understands why I will not answer the door for strangers and why I don't want people that I do not know in my house.

We're studying putting one in right now as well. It will be a DIY job for us. Initially we were going for the 6 foot privacy fence but it would really give us no privacy due to the lay of the land. We are going to do a wood rail fence with welded wire instead. I will tell you to stay away from the prefabed panel at Lowe's and HD. They are cheaply made with brads instead of nail or screws, which you should use. They also have no spacing between the panels so they are very susceptible to wind damage.

Well miss you around here, enjoy your summer.

The Dragon is way overrated. Fun road but there are usually so many cruisers poking around, semis coming at you, and cops awaiting that the fun is not there. I used to live 15 minutes from the Overlook, I'm about 25 now. I'll still ride it but only when I know there will be no tourists. I used to live close to 116, never cared for it, between the coal dust on the road, coal trucks, gravel and iffy pavement I just didn't see the appeal. I did used to ride the stretch from Brushy Mountain to the county line a lot. I know plenty of other really good roads but the only way I share that information is in person, and no GPS, or cameras are allowed to come on the trip.

I work in the tourism industry, we have had rain every single weekend this season with the exception of one weekend in March. It's affecting my paychecks, that rain, rain, can go away!

I haven't made too many regrettable auto sales. I had a 1991 F-150 4x4, straight 6, 4 speed, bought in 2001 with 80,000 miles on it and it was cherry. I loved that truck but flipped it and totaled it. Out of the literally dozens of vehicles I've owned I miss it the most. I've had a lot of bikes over the years as well, all most all had their own qualities and did something in particular that I liked, but I only miss one. It was a 1995 Honda VFR750. I redid all of the body work on it and it was absolutely sharp. Only reason I sold it was that I moved to the mountains and 9 months later it had not left my garage, I had a 2009 CBR600RR and a DRZ400SM at the time as well, so the VFR felt like a fat pig in the twisties. Still the bike was sharp and had an awesome exhaust note, it just wasn't practical to keep. I "replaced" it last summer with a 1991 ST1100, which I'm actually liking a lot more than the VFR. I still have the DRZ as well. It's kind of funny to own those two bikes as they are at opposite ends of the riding spectrum, but it allows me to go shred it on the mountain on one bike and hit the road in comfort on another. I always thought the more bikes the better, but I sold my GSXR1000 this winter because it wasn't getting ridden, I'm happy with the two street bikes I have, it's all that I feel I need right now. -
Yes it was, I'm planning on heading out on my ST on Sunday if I can get a kitchen pass.

I like to be heavily armed while I'm awaiting the tow truck. You never know what will pop out of the woods around here.

Well fellas I was planning to ride my motorcycle. Wouldn't that be a sight! What ever happened with this? A co-worker told me yesterday that they had buried the body in the US in an undisclosed location. Anyone heard?

I try not to be prejudiced and give everyone a fair chance. Behavior like this really negates my efforts.

I hate to post this just because it is from the ACLU but it is accurate. I think you could have pressed the issue if you wanted. Probably saved yourself a lot of time by complying. -
Was I in the wrong yesterday while buying my shotgun?

I just give out my old cell phone number. I have a cell phone but I only possess it for emergencies. It rarely even leaves the car. I'll give people I really don't care for that number because the likelyhood of me actually hearing the phone ring is pretty slim.
