  1. I think the only people who I have ever opened my safe in front of are my wife and my dad.  There is no reason for even close friends knowing everything that I've got.  This is also why I keep my grinder in my safe.
  2. Things that I thought about while watching this video...   -  Chris Hansen on "To Catch a Predator" -  Running a dojo out of your parent's basement. -  Gecko 45. -  Rex Kwan Do (Napoleon Dynamite reference.)
  3. 300 BLK can be a little tricky to load especially if you are making your own cases.  Just be aware of that if you are not a very experienced reloader.  Either round will work fine for deer.  Hopefully our resident 300 BLK expert will chime in soon.  I would lean towards the 300 just because it is light and compact which is what I prefer in a hunting rifle.
  4. Consider this...  The No Child Left Behind Act was passed in January of 2002, right at 14 years ago.  This means that anyone who graduated from high school since 2002 was exposed to this non sense.  That's pretty much everyone that today is under the age of about 33.  Of course the younger they are the more exposure they had to NCLB.  Perhaps this explains the "We're all equal, everybody gets a trophy" mentality of this crowd?
  5. Just a point of information Decatur is 2 1/2-3 hours from Nashville.  It is a nice area though.
  6. This was just brought to my attention.  Interesting concept, basically if a business is posted they can be held accountable the safety and losses sustained on their property by handgun carry permit holders.       http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1736
  7. Keep in mind that if you order them you will have to cut them to length.  I've been out of archery for a while but I always liked the Red Head carbon arrows from Bass Pro.  They were a good balance of value and quality, they could have changed since then though.
  8. Still a smart move.  If YouTube cans him again everyone knows where to find him.  Good to have a backup plan.
  9. Hickok released a statement today saying that he would continue with business as usual on YouTube and would be posting the same videos on Full30 as well.
  10. I don't know about that, I've seen a PSA .308 AR built for under $800.
  11. I like to know what's going on all over the state personally, it's not that vast of an area.  You may have a point when it comes to the classifieds though.  How many times have we seen "you are on the wrong side of the state" posted in the comments of a listing?  If it were to be done West, Middle, and East would probably be acceptable, works with a lot of other things.  I-40 runs W to E nearly 400 miles across the state, of course the extreme NE corner isn't included in that, the state is roughly 100 miles N to S at any given point. Therefore when divided into thirds you have areas roughly 100x135 miles, which isn't a huge area.  For the purpose of the general forum though I like things the way they are.
  12. On the topic of blue light.  I downloaded an app to my phone called Twilight.  I can't say for sure that it really helped with sleep but it did make the screen easier to look at.  It puts an adjustable orange tint over the screen.  It is designed so that you can use your phone before bed without getting the blue light exposure.
  13. This is where I am getting stuck and lost.  I am already a Straight Talk customer, I just have an unlocked US Cellular phone that I was trying to switch to.  I'm currently using a Sprint phone on the Straight Talk network.  This is where it gets weird.  I was on the Ting network for a few months.  I was using this Sprint phone on Ting.  Then I took the Sprint phone to the Straight Talk network.  When I switched to Straight Talk I had issues getting the SIM card to work (I had bought the Straight Talk starter pack that has a SIM for about anything, don't waste your money on that BTW.).  The tech support guy at Straight Talk was helping me through it and asked if I had a SIM card with 5XXX on it, I did have that SIM card but it was my Ting SIM card.  So, I've been using the Ting SIM in my Straight Talk phone for several months, not sure how that works.  On top of not understanding when I called Straight Talk to try to get the new phone running they told me that it is not compatible with their network.  Therefore if it is possible to use this US Cellular phone I'm going to have to figure it out without Straight Talk's help.  BTW, best I can tell Sprint and Verizon phones use the same SIM card.
  14. Makes this look like a bargain! http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=540169344   (For those that don't want to click the link that's a 1972 6" Python and a 1973 Detective special with a reserve of $2750.)
  15. That's what I thought.  The phone is unlocked.  US Cellular was actually really nice about unlocking it.  But when I put my SIM card into the phone it doesn't work.  It recognizes the SIM card but says that there is no network available.
  16. I'm with you.  I always liked my Glocks as a SD gun because they are just plain tough and reliable and don't rust.  I've decided that I hate shooting them though.  I've been thinning down the Glocks in favor of steel and wood that just shoot better and have some character to them.  To each his own, I'm just finding polymer boring currently.
  17. I've worn Google out on this and haven't found a suitable answer so I just thought at I would check and see if anyone has used a US Cellular phone on the Straight Talk network?  Best that I can tell it's not possible but I'm hoping someone that is more technologically savvy than myself can point out something that I may be missing.  Phone is a Galaxy S5 if it matters.  This is gun related because I'll shoot my old phone if I can get this one to work.
  18. Welcome to TGO!  I was the guy that got to the match about the same time that you did and talked to you for a bit in the safe room.  Hope you make it out to shoot again!
  19. I've struggled with insomnia for the past year.  It was an occasional thing before but over the past year I have more nights that I don't sleep well than nights that I do if I don't take meds.  Everyone is different but taking 50mg of diphenhydramine reach night before bed has been a game changer for me.  I've had maybe 2 nights over the past year where I took it and still couldn't sleep.  I also use it when I work my 4am shifts and I'm going to bed at 6:30pm, it has really helped me get the sleep that I need to function.
  20. With my luck I'll wind up in a padded room wearing a straight jacket.
  21. Glock started producing the 18 in 1986.  Anything that you can legally own as a private citizen will have had to be registered before May 1986, therefore that almost effectively rules out a Glock 18.  Check gun broker to see what stuff is going for that will be a good indication as far as cost.  That's the only questions that you asked that I can give you a good answer on.
  22. TV shows and movies have zero bearing on the guns that I buy.  Basically because people that make movies generally don't know jack about guns.
  23.   Yeah those old ones will not hold up in a crash, they just don't have the engineering.  What I was saying is that they are going to hit harder based on their weight alone.  I suck at physics but know enough to know that if a Chevy that weighs 3 tons and a Prius that weighs 1 ton are traveling at the same rate of speed the Chevy will do a lot more damage to the hipster in the Nissan Leaf that was checking his Facebook while turning left on a red.
  24. Ooooh, canings!
  25. I'd be more in favor of a public stoning.
