  1. If you know they are on your property but they havent seen you grab your favorite firearm and dump the mag in a safe direction. Speak in a language that the dumbest of rednecks can understand. There was a fella that lived down the road where I grew up. He owned a lot of land and had a lot of road frontage. He would do this and even the worst local poachers refused to shoot deer off of his property. It was one of the only local places that you would see deer from the road after the start of deer season.
  2. I had a friend that had them coming up in his yard. He left a window open to get a shot. They wouldn't come in the yard when the window was open. How they knew it was open or not we never figured out. Noise and scent maybe?
  3. As an IDPA newcomer this is something that I have tried to be very careful about.  I'm never in a hurry to reholster as time doesn't matter at that point.  When I start to go towards the holster I make sure that my trigger finger is straight along the side of the gun.  Of course at this point the chamber has been checked by the SO and dry fired, so it's pretty dang safe anyway.  I also pay special attention on the draw to make sure that the trigger finger is straight and off the trigger until I am on target.  I really don't want to be the guy that puts a bullet in his own foot, or the floor in front of me for that matter.
  4. I'm out again.  Just have too much on my plate at the moment.  I'll be back in action round the last week of this month or the first week of next month.  I need a fix bad!
  5. I recently shopped the used market for this phone they were going for around $150.  That was undamaged of course, but as long as it's working fine I'd say it should fetch $120-130.
  6. How about just eating somewhere that isn't posted instead of supporting businesses that post.  My wife (she's new to Nashville) told me the other day that she had heard that the Loveless Cafe had good biscuits.  I told her that I would never know.
  7. To each his own.  The difference between a manual safety on a 1911 and a gun without a safety such as a Glock is that I'm much more likely to hit what I'm shooting at with the 1911.  I can confidently say that I'm not on a target any faster at all with the Glock.  Plus I shoot a Glock embarrassingly bad.  There are other guns with manual safeties that I do not feel this confident about though.
  8. I've never had an issue with it.  I've shot all of my guns quite a bit and feel comfortable with them all.  Any idiot can get used to a Glock.  1911's are carried l cocked and locked, it's second nature to me to throw the safety on the draw.  The 642 that I rarely carry anymore takes about as much skill as the Glock to operate.  The first carry gun I ever had was a Bersa Thunder.  I didn't like the safety on it, nor do I like any gun as a carry gun whose safety isn't really easy to operate.
  9. I've got a handful that I rotate.  Just depends on where I'm going, the weather, what I'm wearing, etc.  Go to is a Taurus TCP, Glocks, 1911s, and J-frames occasionally make it as well.
  10. I use them for situations where I never have plans to use that particular tool again.  If It lasts through the job then great but I don't expect it to.  HF is the only place my employer will buy tools from.  They break constantly, I'm not sure why our mechanics are always grumpy???
  11. Never seen one before, very cool!
  12. People paying $260 for HiPoints and I can't get $450 out of a Glock.
  13. Why do they have to be "currently unavailible?"
  14. I don't think you are going to do a 700 in your budget.  I'd take a look at the Ruger American.  I don't own one but I had a scope failure on a hunt this past season and grabbed my buddies American and dropped one deer at 300 yards and then two more at 250 and 125.  It is a more than capable gun and imo it's the best bang for your buck.  I'm partial to .270 as well.  There is no one right answer when it comes to caliber, much of it depends on what terrain you want to hunt.  I like to hunt wide open spaces and the .270 has served me very well.  I have noticed with light ammo, I use 130 grain bullets, I don't get the quick kills under 100 yards that I get past 100, out to 200 and even 300, though currently 300 is my personal limit.  I think that the bullet is moving so fast under 100 yards that it is not expanding properly.  Once it gets out further out slows down a little and really does a good job.  Under 100 and I'm seeing deer running 30-40 yards and then folding up.
  15. This shouldn't have to be a law.  This is common sense.  But we have a bunch of idiots out there that have enough trouble tying their own shoes, therefore there has to be a law to make it illegal for them to be negligent.  This is about as close as I've ever seen to that term "common sense gun law" but it's still pointless.  It's not going to make anyone stop and think "Hey better keep my gun locked up so I don't catch a charge."  So the kid gets the gun the parent gets charged and then what?
  16. Don't worry about getting airline tickets.  Delta doesn't accept EBT cards.
  17. I'm probably out for this week.  Yall have fun!
  18. Youch!
  19. I think gun lube is a lot like engine oil, it's not so important what you use it's that you use it.  I use Mobil 1 for everything because it's good oil and it's cheap.  I've used out on guns but usually just grab whatever is close by that looks like it might be slippery.
  20. Nifty looking piece, I'd like to shoot one.  I just can't imagine producing something like this as a small business though when the market is already saturated with guns that fill that niche.  Don't get me wrong I like the gun I'd just be hesitant to buy something from a small name gun maker, who knows if you will be able to get parts or service down the road.
  21. They can also be found flashing badges at the Golden Corral.
  22. Had a rather unsavory appearing youth attempt to open my door on NYE about 3 am.  I reached for the pistol, he would have gotten it had he pressed the matter.  Keep your doors locked folks.
  23. From what I understood the suspect beat up the officer and then took the lock box key from her.
  24. I shot at that range, once.  I was hit by a ricochet in the shoulder and it left a large bruise.  There were several ricochets that came back that day.  I never bothered shooting there again.
