  1. On the scope being hard to look through make sure that your eye relief is correct.  I set the scope on the rifle mounted as far back as possible, then hold the rifle as if you are shooting it looking through the scope and have someone move the scope away from your face.  You will find a point where you can see through the score the best.  Find that spot and tighten her down.  As far as the scope you don't need to spend much money it's just a plinker.  I would go online and check your favorite websites clearance sections.  Find a scope from a reputable brand on clearance and grab it!  More than likely it will serve you just fine.
  2. $245 for an LCP?  I got one new for $230 OTD a couple of months ago.
  3. I had been searching for a couple of magazines that I was having a hard time finding.  Came across a website that not only had them in stock but they were cheaper than anyone else had them listed.  I placed an order but never got a confirmation email.  I checked my card and it has been charged.  I shot out a friendly email to the vendor around 8 last night and had a reply when I got up this morning.  Turns out I had mistyped my email address.  They resent the invoice and had already processed the order.  When a company gives great customer service I like to let it be known, so there! http://charliecoopers.com
  4. I'm going to say a few things here and it is worth everything that you are paying for it.  Really just some points to consider.   -  I won't discourage anyone from buying the best safe that they can. -  Any safe is better than no safe.  -  Most thieves will not put forth the effort to break into a safe.  Most will ransack the house and grab whatever they can quickly. -  Most people that you have to worry about stealing your guns you already know, whether you want to admit it or not.  Most thieves are not going to put forth the effort to crack a safe that has unknown contents.  -  A cop friend of mine that works in a fairly high crime area said that in his 10 years of being a cop he has never seen a safe broken into but he's been to a lot of home burglaries. -  The location of the safe its self can add another layer of security.  As can having it properly mounted.  Don't make it obvious and don't make it easy to roll out of the house on a dolly.  As much of a pain as it is, the harder it is to get in the harder it will be go get out.  At my last house the safe was in the master bedroom closet.  Guests at our house never knew that we had a safe.  Of course if I like you enough to let you into my home you probably already know that I have guns.  No need to have it sitting out in the open where service people and the like can see it.   -  A security system adds yet another layer of protection.    So, be careful who you let know what you have.  Be careful about who has access to your house. Don't leave crowbars, grinders, torches and the like easily accessible.  Finally, make it inconvenient to remove the safe from your house.   All of these points can be argued to death and there are exceptions to them all, they are simply observations and generalizations to consider.
  5. I'll give the LGS a shot when I'm looking for something though it can usually be found online at a price that the LGS can't match.  I do think it's good to ask if they will match the price that you can find it for elsewhere.  I've had them match the price and I've had them say "that's a really good price I can't beat that."   I don't know what the profit margin is when a LGS sells a gun but I figure that $30 or so that they make off of a transfer fee is pretty easy money for them considering that they didn't have to put any money into the merchandise.  Yes I know that transfers generally just help cover expenses but the LGS is getting a slice of the pie an the internet age where other mom and pops are SOL.
  6.   Well played, I was wondering if that's what you were getting at!
  7. Yep 870.  I don't use it much but if I only had one gun that would be it.
  8. I enjoyed your video.  I don't know jack about the Oscars but isn't that chick at 7:40 that white girl that said that she was black and was the president of the NAACP in Washington State?  Did she get an Oscar for that?
  9. Just got an email on this.  Good price on a good rifle.  Comes with a 25 round mag too!
  10. I'm fresh out of tin foil today but I have to wonder if this whole thing wasn't plotted out by some antis?  Any FFL worth their salt knows that selling firearms off the books is a huge no no.  Seems plausible to me that the whole thing is staged to look bad on the gun industry.
  11. There yall go using that word free again...
  12. Forget paying extra on the mortgage.  Get some 24" spinners for that Tundra!
  13. Welcome!
  14. I've swapped out a few, always did the entire unit as I never had the knowledge and tools for a gear swap.  That said junk yards are always iffy.  Pull-a-Part probably put a taste in my mouth as bad as possum butt holes but most everything on their lot was worn out 100,000 miles ago.  Who wants to do that much work to swap in a differential with 300K on it?  Dealing with salvage yards that buy vehicles from insurance companies may yield better results, it was part of the Pull-a-Part business model that they didn't buy insurance wrecks, they got their stock from individuals so about the only chance you had of getting something that wasn't work out is if someone had a vehicle that wasn't too awfully old but paid off, then they crashed it at fault and sold it to the yard.  Even if you bought a warranty and it didn't work you still have to do the job twice or pay someone else to.  I guess to sum it up, if you get one out of a junk yard make sure that you know what you are getting.   IMO the way to do this job best is to pay someone who is good to rebuild what you got.    One more thing and you probably know this but no one has mentioned it so I will.  Make sure that the replacement is running the same gear ratio as you currently are or it will bind up since your front and rear differentials will be running different ratios.  Then you will be right back to where you started.
  15. How is your boss doing financially?  My first rule of taking financial advice is I don't take it from people who have less money than I do.  I agree that walking away from a house is a horrible idea.  You and your wife are out there killing it socking back an entire income, congratulations!  If I were you guys I would be paying that house off as quickly as possible.  Like, have a years worth of expenses in the bank and use every bit of the rest of your money to pay off the house.  Then you can invest that money in whatever you like and have a ton of financial freedom at a fairly young age.    Which situation would you rather be in in 10 years... A)  Have 20 years remaining on a mortgage but you have some investments that may or may not pan out?      or B)  Own your home free and clear with an extra income that you can do whatever you want with?
  16. I was added to one of those Sheep Dog Facebook groups by someone else.  I stayed because it's entertaining.  They have meet ups and training days, which are probably reminiscent in the current "Tacticold" thread.  The truth is that they are a bunch of under trained, over weight wanna be operators.  That said I think that what they are doing has some merit.  I would say that 3/4 of them would be dangerous to be around were they in possession of a firearm.  That same 3/4 is probably going to run their mouth in a way that is going to attract unwanted or at least unhelpful attention.  I could get behind a revolution but not one led by idiots.
  17. I wouldn't do it.  I would at least move it to the back.  But then again I err on the side of caution when it come to tires.
  18. That is great that they charged him.
  19. I just tried that backwards shotgun roll, knocked out a tooth, sprained my back, and shot the TV all at the same time.
  20. I saw the light and tried to dump the .40s but your constant bashing has made them difficult to sell here.
  21. Pay Comms no attention, no one ever taught him to be tolerant of people that use calibers that he doesn't like :hyper:
  22. The thing is their prices can't be beat but they are the kind of shop that I would be willing to pay a little bit more to do business with because I know that they are going to do me right.  They are the only car related shop that I've dealt with that I am willing to send my wife to without worry that they are going to try to sell her something that she doesn't need.
  23. Thanks, for the info HiPower.  Guess I'll be passing as a despise a DOA gun.  I've had a difficult time learning the differences in Sigs.  I never understood people that didn't understand Glocks as I always thought their model system was very straight forward, but with Sig it's model 226 and there's 100 different varieties within that model.
  24. That is killer deal!  I have plans to get one of these in 9mm.  I think that Sigs can be converted fairly easily, going to check into it.
  25. I think the only people who I have ever opened my safe in front of are my wife and my dad.  There is no reason for even close friends knowing everything that I've got.  This is also why I keep my grinder in my safe.
