I know very little about these things but am fairly certain it is not an original "Colt".  As mentioned the brass frame is not right and what gives it away for me is the use of a san-serif font for the markings.   I don't think orginals ever used that style of type.

  In the gun world that can't be more true.  From an ammunition standpoint I don't think very many appreciate just how few domestic manufacturers there are (and who owns them).  What would happen if a fire or some other disaster struck the Federal plant?  What if the importation of ammunition was banned?  What about future taxation?   Our "hobby" is built on a house of cards.

The weather has not failed again this year.  This is always the muggiest weekend of the year in Knoxville.  Temps aren't that high but it's Memphis-hot out.  The humidity sucks.  In other words dripping with sweat.   I can watch blinding smoke lingering in the still air on TV.
