To "clear" your house, or hunker down.
Tobashadow replied to Will Carry's topic in Training Discussions
Ive got a little runt of a yorkie for a dog inside, he is useless as far as taking on a bad guy but he is great about alerting and running toward the threat which in turn tells me where it is. -
For a Vista or Windows 7 machine here is a live cd to use to scan with - Dr.Web CureIt! — ??????? ????????? ?????????! ??????? ???????, ?????? ?????????? ?????????! just download burn and reboot to cd and scan For a Windows Xp machine nothing can beat ComboFix its a simple runs in dos scanner and killer that fixs most everything or atleast takes it to the point where a standard scanner can be installed. I really wish they would make it Windows 7 usable soon. http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe For a good free spyware antivirus i suggest Microsoft Essentials it runs great using all of 2mb of system ram and has very high ratings compared to the more paid systems out there. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ If still having problems then do a scan with hijack this and pm to me if you want and i'll look it over but a lot of stuff is sneaking around that program now adays.

Pulled my weapon for the first time.Opinions?
Tobashadow replied to Jack's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Drawing your weapon into a ready position to me in that situation is 100% ok in my book. You didn't point all you did was see a possible threat and readied yourself if it was needed. That few seconds of unholstering could have saved your butt if they jumped out armed. And yes even the threat of the weapon can clear trouble even if you really think you wont have to use it. That was proved to me last week in a restaurant bathroom, i just had surgery the week before to remove a cancerous tumor in my throat and the scar on my throat and the ability for me not to move my neck good must have showed weakness to a little punk that pulled a pretty little tiny knife out and asked for my S**T when i came out of the stall (thought about telling him i already flushed it) so i just moved my coat aside and put my hand on Mr Ruger and looked him in the eye and i think he tried to leave me some of his s**t before he went out the door by the look of his eyes. Maybe it did some good for the boy to see that he picked a bad target and maybe he wont decide to try that again and count his stars i was being nice. I didn't get a gun or permit to hurt anyone and would rather not ever have to use it but i won't be a victim to anyone. -
After 20 years fixing electronics my main advice to people is check and recheck capacitors on the tops and bottom for swelling and leakage. For the last 10 years that has been the source of 90% of the problems since china started making most of them and manufacture using the lowest voltage rating they can get by with to save cost.

Good story about talking to someone about HCP!
Tobashadow replied to macville's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Had a guy say my wallet was staged for a purpose one time. When i open it to get my debt card out the NRA member card is in the right hand side and the debit card is under the flap that holds my DL and when i flip the flap up to get to it my HCP is on the underside behind my DL -

As a owner and operator of multiple forums i can relate. If it's not adjusting your filters to deal with the Russian spammers its the fools that think they are entitled like they pay for it. -
The anti Bush and voting for what he is and not what he stands for is the entire reason we are where we are now. I can lay money down 95% of his voters don't even know what he stands for.

Wife needs to see this if she hates guns
Tobashadow replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Wow just Wow That brought emotion out in me listening to the last one like i was there. You could feel the fear in their voices rip through you. -
I have the P32 and P3AT and like others have said they are not fun guns or range guns they are deep cover save your ass guns. Limp wristing failure to feed and extract is a issue with these and any of the small guns because of them making the slide as small and light as possible so it takes the entire recoil energy to extract the empty and load the next round fully and any muzzle flip is bleeding off that needed energy so my advice is to not only train with it to not limp wrist but to also train for failure and quick recovery if you do limp wrist it. Get a set of snap caps for it and baby rack it so it can ftf or fte and learn to recover fast and you will be perfect. They are also wet slide guns and i have found a bit of grease on the slide points and any wear marks made during break in makes the slide run much smoother and decreases greatly the limp wristing issues. So even if you do limp wrist it then the greased and smooth moving slide can make up for it.

If he can throw it through the SUV let him have it. Reminds me of a truck driver coming into work dropping of a load of material complaining about no seal on the truck and scared people would steal the cargo. I pointed at the 4' x 4' square boxes that weigh 2000 pounds and said if they can move it by hand i would let them have it and run. But in all serious, now you have a reason to upgrade some lighting and buy some more home defense equipment and more practice time.

That's why i taught her to depend on instinct point shooting which in a shtf your going to be doing more likely anyways. In my book if you are far enough out to need the sights on a handgun to hit target then take cover or get the &$^# out of there if you can. She is taught ignore the head and legs and arms and go center chest nothing more. Once she learned that she was able to hit it, but shes a bit out of practice now tho i bet. The laser is more to keep her happy .

Finally my wife decided flat out she wants to take the class and get her permit because a cousin of mine decided she is getting her's and i guess that's all it took her to finally decide. I did not pressure for her to do it and was totally her idea this time so im proud. Two things i need help on tho. Where can i find a good study guide for the test online for her with examples so i can work with her? It's been too long for me to accurately guess the questions. Second is a much larger problem! She is one of the people that has the rare issue of not being able to close one eye at a time. I taught her to point shoot which is fine for self defense short range and she does great with it. But what about in the shooting test? The carry weapon she has picked out is getting a laser so no issue there. I can't let her not being able to use sights hold her back from defending herself and the kids when im at work or not with them.

No worries here unless i change wife's for some reason. Mine got spaded three years ago for womanly problems.

CCW ??? If everyone keeps referring to it as a CCW we will lose our rights to open carry and will be like other states where if it prints you are charged with brandishing. The state of Tenn. did us a favor by not making it a CCW, now we have to fight to keep it that way. There have been TOO many people bothered by untrained police that think it is a CCW by the press and other people saying it wrong. Don't give up your rights!

What about people like me in a SHTF situation?
Tobashadow replied to Tobashadow's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Don't know yet, my case is a bit different and Ive had to fire 2 doctors already that i felt did not know what they where talking about and i feared for my life if i stayed with them. One of them swore up and down there was nothing wrong with me even while i sat in his exam room barely breathing and my heart beating really really slow. And was naming of symptoms of hyperthyroid and called it hypothyroid based on my blood test (but had his info 100% in the wrong direction) and said mine did not match hypo but it did for everything on the list i found out later so he said it was all in my head. (FIRED) Went to another doc for a second opinion and he named off the correct info but the treatment was out of his league and experience sent me to another doctor. (understandable) Went to this doctor and he put me on Levothyroxine and three days later i ended up with a very near heart attack that would have happened if i was two minutes later to the ER from complications from the meds. Called him up and he said that was bull**** and continue taking them (i think not) then wanted to do a biopsy on the 8 growths he found but flat refused to explain the procedure to me saying the info is on the sheet they gave me which had all of three F'n lines. (FIRED) Now im at a new doc that agreed with everything i thought it was and told me the other two where flat wrong, he tried a few more options but my biopsy he did (after explaining the procedure) came back 98% sure of cancer cells. So the only option is total removal and maybe more. The real problem is the meds i have only 4 left on the list they can try but he has really hi hopes for this one (forgot the name) since its chemically a exact clone of real human thyroid hormones but after the other problem i get to take a few days in UT while they play the does it kill him game after the surgery. Does anyone know if UT has wifi in the rooms? -
I went to thinking this morning while worrying over my soon to come (Feb 10th) cancer surgery to remove my Thyroid. And thought about how i will be on a adjusted medication for the rest of my life or die since i will have 100% no thyroid left after the surgery. What happens if the SHTF on a big scale as in people in the streets looting and killing for supplies. I can take care of food, water and security with no problem. But what about that med? I know i could stockpile some but i am so far had a allergic reaction to two they have tried so it narrows it down to only four left i could take. And the doc will not write a long term extra since they want to change the dose size every three months or so. And any stockpile would only be a stop gap measure and i could literally count my days. Do i join the looters and hit the pharmacies first? Guess the doc is going to find out i have a survivalist frame of mind or think i panic too much and want to put me on other meds. I wonder if he knows i am always packing when i visit and I'm still trying to figure out what to do while I'm in the hospital with it.

Pros and cons of possible SHTF rifle choices......
Tobashadow replied to Jasongar8's topic in Long Guns
7.62 x 39 is not a good round???? Um the Russians made it to be one shot one kill. Yah it's a week round all right, tell that to the cinter blocks i busted to prove a point to a guy one day using hollow points. The 223 was designed by Nato in the thinking that if you wound a person then it takes three out of battle so two can treat you. Nice thinking except in a SHTF situation. And if a foreign country comes in there will be plenty of droped 7.62 ammo for it too.
