1. No offense Grunt but don't you think that their listing the different delivery dates based on how much you pay for shipping would be need to be an accurate representation of just what it is your paying for? That would seem to me to be misleading the customer into thinking he's getting more because he paid  more when in actuality he gets nothing more.   And IMHO potterfield doesn't really care a damn which makes me want to join other forums and get the word  out about about it since it sure seems like I'm not the only one disgruntled by their policies. If they want to up front with their  customers then do away with the fine print and state exactly what it is they will do.
2. I'd double check the recall even if he bought it afterwards. You never know how long the gun might have sat on some gunshops shelf.   Better to be safe than sorry at any price.
3. Update on shipping...now due on July 17.    That's 9 days after I order it. Shipping weight 1/2 lb.   Gotta love Midway. Never again!
4. Personally I think they're feeling the pinch of double digit inflation. I mean come on. $5-6 dollars off already inflated prices in their clearance section means they're only getting 150% markup iso 200%.   They are trying to go with it with the usual raising of their product prices but their shipping has always been out of sight especially when they could set up an account with the USPS and use the flat rate shipping boxes or set up a flat rate account. The problem is they've always  seemed to feel they can grab a few more bucks with their higher shipping fees. It works until people stop buying and start complaining. I don't believe he's listening so much to the people as he is his bottom line.    In a time when many people are feeling the pinch of inflation, loss of jobs and all the other crap that's going on there are other places you can go with out having to  pay the same price for shipping that you paid for a product.    Want a comparison? Look at Dillon reloading Products. You spend a bit more for your reloader but they guarantee for life. If something wears out you call them and  instead of putting the piece in a large box filled with air bags they stick it in a small bubble bag that probably cost them .60 cents to ship and they do it all for free for the life of the  product. I don't need to buy a part from midway for $6 and then have to pay $6 more for a 1/4lb product. I guess I'm getting tired of shipping and handling.  Because it raises the question...if they didn't handle it how could they sell and send it to me?  I usually don't buy when that goes out of sight because it's just a way  to add tho their bottom line. I then buy elsewhere.
5. It's sat around in TN Weather for 10 + years. I've had a few boats in the past 40 years and to me the biggest issue might be the  rubber water pump impeller (depending on manufacturer). It's normally located int he lower unit.   Here's a couple of youtube vids on how folks go about replacing them. You're engine might be different but if you lose it out on the lake you might burn up your motor.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUJP93UpCyA   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiQNhFYFvdQ
6. Sorry to report the old girl has sold. She can easily knock down a deer out to 200 yds and further, iron sights and all. I hope you find the gun your looking for at the price you want to pay.
7. Well, it just changed again from the original delivery dat of the 18th to now the 14th. They say it shipped but UPS  doesn't list it being picked up.    Pity they didn't get that right either.    I have been buying more and more from Brownells. I think I will continue to do so. I gave Midway another chance but I'm done with them.
8. Very, very nice work! It's beautiful!   As you progress please keep us in the loop by showing us your work!
9. Not to hijack my own thread...Is that an English Springer? Here's mine... :)
10. Ok, so some dude buys a sign for $800 and wants to trade it for a gun.    http://www.armslist.com/posts/3261231/memphis-tennessee-misc-for-trade--military---stay-back-100-meters-deadly-force-will-be-used--english-arabic-   Ok, so I'm good with that and won't mention 800 BUCKS again.... ROFLMAO!   What I'm really wondering is how many people can actually read that sign at 100 meters?    This sure seems like a case of our High Command at work again! It makes me wonder if that sign went all the way up to our Commander in Chief for approval!
11. When they lose enough customers maybe then they'll get the message. Of course, by then it'll be too late for them.
12. Ok, so Midway is giving away free shipping for orders over $25. I got that.    As miserably expensive as they are I figured I'd give them one more chance and decide to buy some new scope rings.  Sure enough the shipping is free. I ordered them on the July 8 and the site said free shipping, expect delivery on July 14. Or...... you can spend $3 shipping and get it on July 10. I figure thats ok so I checked the box for the 10th.   Since they had free shipping I figured I'd have a look on their clearance page and see if there's anything else I need.  I saw a fare price on some 9mm cast lead bullets so I add them to the cart. No biggie since it's covered. I also added a  handy lens cleaner for my new NightForce scope that I'm buying the rings for.  All is good.   I go back to the cart and now find a couple of pounds of lead added now changes the shipping from free to added expense.  I say to myself, "self, that's strange I went from $72 way up over $110 and now they want to charge me shipping that they say  for anything over $25 is free".    I felt like they were doing it again and planning on loosing me as a customer all over again but i figured I'd remove the bullets and  ship it so i'd get it in a couple of days because at this point it's more trouble to get search for the same price point/free shipping although I know it's out there but as I mentioned above, I wanted to give them one more chance.   I set my order and pay the bill and the next thing I know I get the invoice saying it'd ship and arrive at my house on July 18th.     Old potterfield got me again! Let this be a warning there are other places you can buy the same products for the same price or less and not have to go through this garbage with Midway.  Brownells comes to mind along with a mess of other places.    Buy from them at your own risk of BS!   I wrote a review reference their business practices but I'm sure it will not be allowed in print even though no obscene language was used.
13. Are moles and voles considered game animals? I am protecting my property from the invasion...right?   And, I can prove they're invading..... :D
14. Rant on!!!   I'm a 2%'r.   98% of my wages go to taxes.     The problem is the Gov't wants the taxes so they can spend, spend, spend but are rapidly running out of people who can pay taxes.   People used to go to school and either graduate from 12 grade or go on to college and graduate. Those that graduated from High School tended to work more blue collar hands on, OJT jobs which were somewhat protected from Company abuse by Unions.    The people in Unions became sort of a mini Gov't wanting more and more. At some point they voted themselves out of business by asking for  more than the Company could afford to pay so they went overseas for the same products built more cheaply.    Remember any major Corp has one God. The Stock Holder. To maintain good standing with the ones holding the shares the Corp has to continue to promise more dividends to keep the share holders. At some point there is nothing more in the assembly line that the Corp can cut but if they can double up workloads for employees.  Less employees means more money to promise to share holders. This placates the share holder for a year or two then the Corp has figure out what to  do next since the income remains the same. Benefits go next. Then some operations go offshore like IT to India. A quarter the price for something that can be done over the  internet. They get a few more years for the share holders. At some point it's all over and the owners close up shop.    Ref. the college grads...they get higher paying jobs usually get scooped up by the major corporations. Their thinking is those grads took the extra time and effort to  stay in school and continue learning skills they will need in the work place. Those folks are generally salaried iso hourly. They offer benefits in lieu of Unions. Those  benefits are somewhat the same as Union work without the dues.  Pension, Health Care, Vacation, Holidays, Annual Bonus pay, etc. All of these benefits come out of the Company's bottom line.   A quick look back around 40 years or so. A college education averaged 10-15K a year, living on campus. Less if you stayed home. Community colleges were a lot less.  The high end colleges cost quite a bit more. Some folks were never meant to go to college but were able to make a fair living and provide for their family and retirement  if they worked hard, union or not.  Prices have gone up...ALOT! Lots of reasons...greed. And college professors are the people cause the problem. It is all economics now. And with Tenure you can't get rid of the bad apples. And those are the same bad apples that are preaching politics to your kids. I'd say 905 of the college teachers are beelding heart liberals because it keeps them in their jobs.   Enter the liberal Gov't.  Healthcare - offered to anyone. No more benefits for working for a Company. You pay. Pensions - no longer offered. Garbage 401K's and portable pension funds are the new pension. It raises the question who manages your 401K? At what price? If you do, where do you get the time to learn what funds to chose and then have the time to manage it? This benefit costs the Corp but cuts into your money saved. Hmmmmm... Minimum Wage - This was originally meant to give school kids a means of learning about working. They're trying to get $10 an hour and really want to push for $15. CA min wages are $9. Food Stamps - A friends sister in TX got a job at WalMart and they gave her the food stamp paperwork to fill out. All of the stores are doing it. Immigration Reform - Votes for Democrats from illegal aliens. Need I say more. Savings Interest?  Pretty much gone right? The Gov't bailed out the Banks so they don't need your money. Welfare Queens - The more un-fathered kids you have the more money you make off taxpayers without having to work for a living. Assisted living - CA gives you money to help pay for your housing.  Gas coupons - they're coming. Old age and Retirement - City Gov't pensions although small included health for spouses. Now is the pension holder dies the spouse has nothing (Obamacare) she can afford. Gas Prices - unregulated by the Gov't as long as they get their cut. A bird farts in Aruba and gas prices go up.  Ilegal kids crossing the border - Turn them back around.  Illegal aliens living in America are protesting in the streets? Round them up and send they back. Mil Vets - Our Gov't ensures the rest of the world is cared for before they worry about our vets. Why else are there org's to help our vets? Inflation -  Dbl Digit is here now. Don;t let anyone fool you. College? - If an lazy bum can make the equivalent of 50K per yearwhy would some want to pay $200-300K to go to college to compete for McDonalds jobs? Therre is no incentive to work any more. I am a middle class worker. I am a Baby Boomer. When I retire I will probably be the last of the pensioners left in America.  Future welfare queens - Don;t forget the young school girls in CT and TN who made a pact to have babies....Amazing.   Until the people in Washington are voted out of office what you are seeing now will continue.   Whats even more pitiful is what happens when the money runs out? If people make $10 an hour, get a cost of living allowance, food stamps and gas coupons they will be effectively  making around 50K per year but will have no money. No retirement, horrible health care, businesses closing at a high rate. Businesses being bought up by other Countries. Believe me  when I say most of the meats will be coming from China very soon as are most products.   You will end up at the mercy of the Gov't. History shows that Gov'ts have no mercy except to themselves. What happens when they can no longer collect taxes because there isn't any money to collect.   The list goes on. Our Gov't uses typical lawyer court room arguments.  "if it sounds right then it must be so".   However, if it smells like poop then it probably is.    God is gone form America. Sodom and Gomorrah is here, now and the American People is allowing it to happen.  Look at Mississippi. The Democrats crossed  line to vote for the standing Republican Senator because he is useless rather than have a real Republican get in office and do something for America. And many  Republican's allowed it to happen. How messed up is that?    I'm going to enjoy my retirement but I really feel bad for the folks with nothing to look forward to. You can call them the X,Y or Z generation or whatever but they're  all screwed until they wake up vote out these very, very bad politicians currently in Office. All of them need to go.Our Gov't needs a house cleaning. Get the word out  and lets vote em out of Office.   Rant off.
15. Soooo...yer saying it only costs me $5 to shoot my pellet gun?    I think I can manage that.   :D   But, don't they have to catch me first?
16. I can do better than that with my H&R Springfield Trapdoor Officers Model, .45-70 with aperture sights. It will pretty much take down anything you point it at in North America. Light weight, not much kick. I have it for sale here but it's a lil more than you're looking to spend. You are local to me if you want to shoot it. Good luck with your search!
17. I bought the extended warranty for my Venza because it has a big fancy computer running everything along with an electric steering system. I figured I'd be putting 10k a year on it and was able to get a 7 year warranty on all of it. I plan to take it into retirement.    My Ridgeline does require the belt/water pump change every 100k or so. I have 158k on it now. The only other problem is the awd means I  have to rotate and change the tires on a schedule. The only other issue I've had with it is some of the dash lights go out and have to be replaced from time to time. I plan on tossing a new engine in it in about 3 years then I will take it into retirement with me. A local dealer can get me a brand new "pull out" engine for my RL for around $2k. I love that truck and will keep her running until I hand it off to of the great grand kids....   The last thing I've ever heard about a timing chain is they out last the engine, and the car so your good with that!
18.  Yes, I also found out some of the Hondas come with timing chains and others with a timing belt.  My 2006 Ridgeline has a belt.  If my timing belt breaks it has a tendency to tear up some internal aluminum parts like the tensioners and such which can drive the cost way up.   We bought a 2013 toyota venza 6 banger awd last year and the first question I asked the dealer was, "does it use a timing belt or chain. It uses a belt...ah well...wishful thinking.   The reason I mentioned it to you was so you'd spend a minute and confirm if you might need one.
19. I'd double check the timing belt and water pump had just been replaced. They need that every 90-100k miles or so and will cost approx $850 on up to replace.
20. And yeah it does...How about an 1859 Original Sharps .45-100 that saw service in the Civil War, The Indian Wars and as a Buffalo Market harvester.... And....it's a 1000 yd gun, that I shoot around once a week. Now that's cool..... :D
21. Isn't that General Turgdison? MUAHAHAHAHA! I also liked Dr. SL's ratio of men to women in the bunker. LOL. Hier ist vat ve can do, mien fuerhr!
22. Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.   We must protect the American and our bodily fluids.....     ROFLMAO...
23. I have to because I resize .30-06 to 6.5-06 all the time. I do it the old fashioned way, a battery powered drill, a deep socket and a torch. It's not perfect but no neck cracks or splits.
24. Yes, don't leave the bore sight in the gun 'cause bad things can happen. :D   If you're a righty and pushing the bullets low, left then your jerking the trigger which pushes the muzzle low left.  Try grabbing a little more trigger. Stick your trigger all the way in to the first joint and then try shooting.    Try dry firing just like if you at the range. As you pull (which I think is what you're doing) watch the muzzle it will  get pushed to the left before the trigger breaks.
