  1. Not to worry in 5-10 years we'll be a third world nation with no money so ebola will probably be the lessor of the multiple evils.
  2. And yer still married? And not living in the dog house?   Nice toys!
  3. Many people one these forums were barely born 30 years ago.    The old saying of those who fail to remember the past are doomed to repeat it is still true today but you can add if the gov't prevents students from learning the  true past then they will also be doomed to repeat it.     Answer a question...if you were born a minority in the past 30 years what have you been taught about your position in life by your parents?  Answer another question.. has ebonics actually helped anyone? Answer a last question..... the illegal aliens stream across our southern borders and live amongst us whether we like it or not but how many people will go out and  do the work they do? Concrete, roofing, landscaping, picking strawberries, beans and tomatoes, etc. I have seen very few minorities work in those fields. Why, are they too good to do that? Without any education that is offered to every American? You get an education you get an better job. It's pretty simple.     The reason American was originally set up as a Republic was because our forefathers wanted people to strive for themselves and our Country. If you worked you voted.  Reason? If your have no motivation and can vote yourself money then why work?    The democrats an no different that socialists from past times. They want to rule. Unfortunately for them eventually they'll find out it doesn't work and never has.    Lastly, a quote from another forum that is very true.   If racism were to suddenly disappear tomorrow, it's not the republican party that would be hurt.   You might vote yourself free money today but it won't help your children of tomorrow. Perhaps it IS all about YOU!
  4. Answer #1) Fry electronics or Newegg would be where I start looking. I used to upgrade my Desktop PC every two years by buying a MB, Chipset, and Ram and putting it all together. Avergae price for the whole mess was around $140. If I had to upgrade the power supply or video card that would increase the expense.   Answer #2) Not sure.  Are you using the LAN ethernet cable from the router to the computer? I gather you want the wireless for laptops around the house? You should have a router from your IP.  You can plug that in directly to the computer and see if there's a difference.   I'm also curious as to who's the IP provider? Comcast? Roadrunner? AT&T?
  5. I use a capful of sea foam which seems to keep my gas can from turning during the winter months.  I usually run my weed eater and power leaf blower out of gas at the end of each season. Nothing more. A quick sniff of the gas can in the spring and I pour some fuel into the WE and LB and fire them up.
  6. Anything wrong with a Delta Elite?
  7. In Kalifornia in order to get a local gov't job you are required to be bi-lingual...english/spanish.   How about dem dumb chips in NYC minding their own business, ys'll!
  8. I shoot my Hawkins .50 cal probably once every two weeks and once a month in competition.   The first thing I did when I bought mine was get a globe front and rear aperture sight for my tired eyes. Easy to mount and now I can see and hit what I see. The next thing I did was buy two hot shot nipples, size #11 and swapped out the original. The hot shot has a small hole drilled in the side of it up by the tip when expands the spent cap. The cap usually just falls off the nipple when you bring the hammer back to 1/2 cock. I always have a spare with me and I keep the original as another backup. My powder of choice is 777 as I find it's pretty clean.   Loaded? The first thing you do is make sure your rifle is unloaded. That's easy to do by sticking a cap on it and pointing down range fire it.  The next thing you do is take another primer and stick it on and point the rifle with the muzzle a few inches away from the ground (read dirt here) and fire it. The cap will have enough power to move dirt around a little bit. Now you know for a fact that the rifle is empty.  Now you take out you ramrod and stick it down the barrel until it hits bottom. You will feel/hear the ramrod hit bottom. Take a knife and scribe a line around the  ramrod right where it exits the barrel. You now know if you have an unloaded rifle or not. When you do load the rifle then stick the ramrod back down the barrel and scribe a mark for it being loaded. Now you know the right depth of seating or if you forgot to put a charge in, or double loaded the rifle just by checking with your ramrod.   Cleaning: In competition I clean between shots. That consists of running the same cleaning patch down the barrel between shots. I use #77 Muzzle Magic Cleaner. A pint bottle runs around $6-7 and The last one I bought was almost two years ago and I'm about 1/2 through it. I transfer somer to a small squirt bottle that I take to the range.   All you need is the cleaner, patches, a cleaning jag, a nipple wrench, a tooth bruch, some oil (I use 5wt synth car oil) and some cheap pipe cleaners you can buy at wally world.   Take a patch and lay it over the muzzle then squirt some #77 on it and ram it to the bottom of the muzzle. Give it about 5-6 full strokes then remove and replace it with a clean  patch. Repeat the strokes and the new patch should come out clean. You're done with the barrel.    Take the tooth brush and squirt a little bit of #77 on the breach/nipple area and clean it with the tooth brush. It should come clean very quickly. Wipe off with a rag. Remove the nipple and put a lil #77 on a pipe cleaner and clean the inside of the nipple out. Use the pipe cleaner and clean out the threads and breach plug channel. Re-install the nipple and the cleaning is about done. Just lightly coat a patch or a rag with oil and wipe down the barrel/breach area. Take a lightly oil coated patch and run it down the barrel.   I do this at the range after every shooting session and take a clean rifle home.   Shooting: When I show up at the range the first thing I do is take the rifle to the firing line and charge it with a cap and fire it to confirm the barrel is open.   My powder charge is determined using the correct length tube connected to the powder horn. Mine is brass and has a button valve on it. I then dump that into a powder measure and dump it into my loading tube, down the barrel. NEVER dump the load directly from the horn to the barrel, It may and probably will dump a huge load by accident. Let's not have any accidents.  Once the barrel is charged with powder. I take a tiny rubber hammer and tape the rifle around the breech area to ensure the charge also fills the the channel. I then take a pillow ticking patch which I wet in a small tub of water and squeezed out then lay it over the muzzle and center a ball, sprue up, over the patch and start it using my .45 cal pistol ramrod. Once started I use the pistol ramrod to push it 6-7 inches down the barrel then switch to the ramrod and ram it home. Two firm pats on the ramrod ensures the ball is rammed home. You can confirm it because the ramrod has the charged line on it.    I leave the caps on the shooting table when I walk up to shoot. That way they're never near my rifle while I'm loading it and they're right where I want to shoot. After my shot I gently blow down the barrel and look for the smoke to exit thru the nipple. That tells me my breech channel is not clogged.   You need to get ahold of some 4X powder.  It is considering a face saver just in case you get into a conversation with someone and forget to put some powder in the rifle prior to sticking the ball in. If this happens you will not need a ball remover. Just pull the nipple and charge the breech channel with the 4X. I will hold around 4 gr of 4X. screw the nipple back in cap it and shoot the round downrange. The ball will pop out and go around 10-15 ft..   A list of supplies.    Hot shot nipple (for Hawkins) #77 BP cleaner as noted above. I use a small squeeze bottle from Hobby Lobby. 1 old very large aluminum arrow with a funnel glued to it Nipple wrench Gun oil or substitute 777 powder Powder horn with a valve to measure a load. Powder measure. #11 caps Pipe Cleaners Cleaning patches Pillow Ticking (washed 3-4X to soften it up then cut into 1 inch patches). Balls (shot). Try .490 or .495. My .50 likes the .495.  1 small rubber hammer 1 .45 cal wooden ram rod 1 cleaning jag.  Some 4X powder A small water tub to wet the patches. Use lubed patches for hunting, not water wet ones. A pint sized water holder to carry the water to the range.   My rifle is set up for target shooting using 35 gr of 777, FF. Very accurate and will knock over any silhouette.  Any more powder for target shooting is pretty muh a waste in my rifle but you will need to try 30-35-40-45-50 grains until you  get the group size you want,.   I can take and send pics if you want to see my setup. It all fits in one plastic large ammo box except the ramrods,  lol   Hope this helps.    I forgot to mention I get most of my supplies from track of the wolf   http://www.trackofthewolf.com
  9. You may want to try this starting sequence.......   1. Full choke, full throttle. Pull it till it burps.  2. Immediately go to 1/2 choke, full throttle. Pull it till it starts. 3. Immediately take choke off and rev it and you're good to go.   Normally it's about 3-4 pulls before I have to go to 1/2 choke. then a couple a more and it's running and if yours has  the lil thumb pump on top of the carb I pump mine around 10X before I begin the start sequence.   Crazy as it sounds over the past 25 or so years I've had 3 of the things and every single one of them started that way.   Hope it helps ya.
  10. TN Supreme Court Judges are supposed to be elected not appointed so those people are screwing us all. Vote how ever you want but I'm sure not voting for those bums. We need change and we need to start somewhere. Now is the time.
  11. Might be good in the woods and up in the mountains.   Pity you have to have two of them, that you can't pair with a bluetooth phone that is by a tower, etc. Then you could send a message in the middle of nowhere and have it picked up by a tower 30 miles away then go  anywhere any tower can reach, to it's intended destination.
  12. Why did I know it would involve donuts? Doh! Yummmmm, Doooooonuts!   Btw, couldn't watch it..
  13. I suppose anyone with a gun, some money can come up with a shooting school. It doesn't mean it's worth a damn.   That being said the more someone shoots, the right or wrong way, the more he will get used to shooting and hitting. Case in point...I have a friend that has gone through a shooting school, got his hcp, even qualified for a security guard.   I took him out to our range to shoot 8 inch steel plates at around 23 paces and he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from  inside, with the door closed. It was funny to watch but sad...bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, cuss, bang,cuss,bang...reload.. bang, cuss, bang, hit! Then he turns to me and said, "finally!" MUAHAHAHAHAHA! I pulled my little 3.5 in Colt Officers and shoot the other 5, bang ping, bang ping, bang ping, bang..MISS!, bang ping, bang ping. Whew, thought I was losing it.    Another thing I learned many years ago in the Academy was you never keep any flashlight anywhere near your gun/body. If you want to look around a corner you stick the light as far out away from you as you can. Then peek around the corner.  If someone is gonna shoot they will shoot the light and it makes a great aiming point since its the only thing they can see.  A miss on the light will probably hit whatever is behind it. So why in the world would anyone want to attach a light to their gun  or hold it, pointing forward in one hand with the gun resting on their wrist? Amazing...   Things may have changed since the '70's but there was a reason that was taught back then.
  14. Price is way outa sight. They should at least wait until double digit inflation really hits. Then it won't seem so bad a price.   Also, cast lead bullets moving at super sonic speeds will lead the heck outa your barrel in short order unless you can find a  recipe for lube that will stop it. Very hard to do at those 25 gr bullet speeds.   Otherwise, it's cool.
  15. As a Vet that's a good idea but perhaps an even better idea is to write you your  Senators and Congressmen and tell them to quit spending  money on foreign concerns and put those billions of dollars toward aiding the Vets who gave everything for their Country. Tell them if they don't want to discuss these problems then expect to get votes elsewhere.
  16. "That was one, big Armadillo.   You could've fed the whole family."   Or not.....and fed them KFC.   Spend a couple of bucks an keep peace in the family and hospital bills to a minimum.....   :D
  17. Ask your German contact what his salary was and how many months of vacation he gets? Does he work more than 208 days a year minus vacations, holidays and personal days off. Better not... :D   If you can get workers at half the price by laying off in Germany and hiring for the new factory in the U.S., wouldn't you. Especially if you don't need to pay benefits due Obamacare and no pensions due 401K's. Hell, they can even make them work only 30 hours a week and make bundles along  with the tax incentives for setting up a U.S. town.   It seems like normal 2014 business ethics to me.
  18. If I remember rightly one of my buddies who shoots BP and smokeless skeet and has a wonderful collection of old world and new shotguns once told me to stay away from the Spanish made guns because some might have metallurgy problems. I can't remember why anymore but it was a definite "stay clear" since there are many other well made guns well within the price range of those. I'd keep an eye on other guns sales on the net and see what you can figure out for a selling price...   Just thinking out load....
  19. Are you sure that's not some crackpot website designed to illicit information?
  20. Why yes and if you want I the have some future beach front property for sale in Salameh, AZ, please let me know. I still have an acre or two left.    As far as using the GI Bill for education I think you should. We all did.  Pity when you get done you'll be qualified for a management job at McDonald's.    No, wait a minute.....   Lessee, pharmacists start at $120K/year right now. Airline pilots will be high demand in about 3 years or so. Middle TN has a good Flight Program. They make around $50k the 1st then go up dramatically but the cost to join is an ATP and 1500 hours PIC time. Stay with the majors because the weed eaters probably average $12-20k/year which is below the poverty level. Flight Dispatchers make on average $110/year with the majors but also start on the low side. Probably $45k per year.  Wait! Move to CA. Stay unemployed, get on the housing assistance program, sign up for food stamps and gas coupon assistance and you'll be making the equivalent of $50K/year and you can stay home and ride that old couch!   Or, you can work really, really hard and let all those other people sit on their couches collecting govt teat while you pay 98% of other peoples taxes.   Please let me know about the AZ property. It has sewer and water and a real road going by it. WoooHoooo! I'm itching to unload before my property taxes go up.    :D   Almost forgot to add the politicians are the ones that cause this. They are not your friends. They are not here to help you. They want power.  The will use any means at their disposal to get it.  They will do it at your expense. If you think otherwise then you become part of the problem and not the solution.
  21. Flies and bugs in C-rats added that lil crunch we all loved....
  22. Pics of it would be nice.
  23. I once saw where some old Mexicans were able to somehow chop their way through the gristle to extract the meat then  spent hours cooking them. They say it was ok to eat but why go to all that trouble to get a meal when there's much  better roadkill on the highways of TN?   :D
