1. Thanks, a buddy I shoot with just got a Gibbs from his brother who had turned it into a safe queen for the past 10 years.  at least he got it now and has been airing it out. He also shoots his Pedersoli Sharps with me when we go shooting. While it sure is a pretty rifle i still love my original 1859 Sharps in .45-100.   I'll see if I can get some pics of targets and us shooting tomorrow.
2. My .50 Cal Flintlock Kentucky got here and is in great shape! I can't wait to get out an put some rounds downrange tomorrow. I'll try and get a range report out tomorrow evening.
3. Rem 700 6.5-06 with a shilen heavy target barrel.
4. With as many deer roaming the streets of MS? Probably never!
5. I sold my Springfield .45-70 Trapdoor because I bought an 1859 Sharps .45-100. If I lived in MS it'd be legal for BP season but it might be a lil overkill for our lil deer.
6. Used to run from Fairchild around to school and back twice a day, coming and going for the day.    Any in fraction meant drop and give me 20 4 counts...when you stood up: SURVIVAL!   We kinda thought the PR guys were a bunch pansies.   Temps down to -20 in the mountains at night. Cold didn't begin to describe it. But only on fire guard or  when you first get up in the AM walk to the fire to thaw out your bunny boots. It's real comfy with a  mountain bag stuffed inside an arctic laying to pine boughs. Just strip down to your long johns, take yer  clothes into the bag with you and call it a night.    Wonderful if you really love the great outdoors and plan on retiring to a Forest Ranger job although  today you could start your own zombie survival school since there's so many fanatics out there that  thinks the world is ending. They're ripe for paying high dollars to learn.   I think I still have a copy of the survival manual around somewhere.
7. You'd be spending more money for the same thing only in .223?    You might want to take a look at Palmetto Armory. They usually have some great sales.
8. Very cool but I wonder when TN might go to a .45-70 rule for BP shooting. That seems to have pretty spelled out the demise of BP hunting in  MS.   Personally I still shoot BP matches for fun using a Thompson Center Hawkins .50 cal. I have a Pedersoli .50 Cal Pennsylvania arriving  on Thursday so I'll have a side lock and cap lock to play with now and if TEOTWAWKI hits all I'll have to do is find some saltpeter to  make my own BP.  :)
9. Rats, and I only have my Colt 45 and a pocketful of LC's. Reloads would be a might slow....
10. I have a house in Spokane Valley. I was there in Survival in the USAF back in 71 and loved it. I plan on retiring there.   Does that help? Are you looking at moving there? Or just somewhere in the Pac NW?
11. Yeah, dat's it!  American 101. Make sure you get dat outa da way first thing. It's probably required anyhow.     Make sure you talk with yer counselor so you don't waste time and cash taking courses dat ain't for civil engineering. He will help you set a course and help you stay on it. I hope you like lotsa math.    Everyone should chase their dream!   On a side note, the Germans and Japanese folks would like to come to America, too.
12. English 101 might be a good starting point.    :D   Seriously, good luck on your endeavors.
13. Back in the '70's Gander Mountain had the best prices around and all the reloading supplies anyone could want.  They succumbed to greed and went for what they felt was, what the market could bear. The bottom line is  everything even at the cost of losing customers, which is what they did with me. I haven't been in their stores in over 30 years.
14. Prayers done!     The operation may take a few hours but for you it will only take a second. It's funny how there is no sensation of time once they  knock you out.  When you wake up take your time and do it right getting well and it won't be long before you're up and about.
15. Nothing wrong with your Springer, either! Nice!
16. I hit 62 today. Exercise and eating the right food will get you through so you;re doing it right.   I'll start eating the right foods and exercise real soon now.....   Now for the bad news....in 2014 Obamacare will not allow anyone over 76 to get cancer treatment. This is why Pelosi said, we need to get this passed so we can sit down and read it. There's more but this is not the place to post it.
17. Exactly...and you sure get a lot of gun from an RIA for little money! Well said! :D Also, the Norinco is gunsmiths dream you get one for a $100 or 2 and get to hack on it any which way you want and learn about gunsmithing. They make a great learning platform. You can then work on your RIA to make it anything you want. Although I just kinda shoot em. Anyone can read a lot about 1911's from the "Pros" but I always take that with a grain of salt. Most of those so called experts talk about all the 100's of thousands of rounds you can put through one type or other and how much parts replacement and tuning will be needed and how crappy one brand is over another. No offense to those so called pros...wait is saying that an offense? :) oh well.... IMHO the average US shooter is not going to run a 100K rounds through his pistol unless he shoots competition and then those guys are gonna listen to the other shooters to help them decide what works or what's cool. For such high rounds guns it's amazing just how many malfunctions they seem to have on the range. Let's say the average shooter shoots 100 rounds a month. After all life does take up a lot of time and most of us can't get to the range every week plus prices have gone up unless your a reloader. So the average joe take a couple of boxes to range and goes bang. He checks out different brands and finds one that works absolutely flawlessly every single time he/she goes out. He has a dependable pistol that works every time. And.....1200 rounds a year X 10 years = 12k rounds and that's if he keeps up with every single week and that may or may not happen. To get to 100k rounds out it would take him 80 years and change. The only gun that has gone that far and is still dependable is the Colt. That being the case the jury is still out on other semi's so why worry about who has the better mousetrap? Find something that works, you can afford and like and go have fun! I carry a Colt Officers because I always have. I have some Colt's and an RIA and I'm looking at a 1911 Norinco in 9mm today for around $150 to get and have fun working on since I like messing with 1911's but will not mess with my "good" guns that already run fine. Ok boys n girls can we say Carry? :D
18. Personally, I'm a Colt man. Now that I've said let me also mention I have a full sized RIA 1911 that I really enjoy shooting. I use it for Cowboy action shooting at it operates flawlessly. Would I recommend one to a friend? Yep! Would I get another one? Yep! I even went so far as to drop some nice snakes on it. Sorry for the lousy pics... G-n-T...thanks for the info on the grips! 19. Save the ta tas. I'm all for that. I've been shooting pink shotgun shells during the SASS matches although sometimes I get odd looks.    Only real men can shoot pink!
20. That six, dude. If you we're in Kaliforinia I'd ask if you were driving a Hummer....
21. Who ever heard of bad gas? I thought old gas was used for weed control. Since the money's already spent why waste it?
