  1. I hope you upgraded the glass if it's anything like the stuff in my vintage windows. Fairly thin and breaks quite easily.
  2.   What kind of an idiot walks in front a a vehicle that is suspended in time travelling at >100kph?
  3.   Might not be a good thing. I know my hitch would transfer any impact directly to the structure of the car where the bumper has shock absorbers (though that may work differently for trucks? That receiver looks like it would get the brunt of the impact in any case).
  4. The tea party is supposed to be about fiscal responsibility. It annoys me when people try and hijack it for things not directly related.
  5. What do you do? There's always the possibility someone might be able to pass your resume on.
  6. They're just gearing up to introduce some new invasive "anti-terrorist" measure that will do nothing to stop terrorism but a whole lot to oppress American citizens (the Brits are up to it too). Just wait and see.
  7. I had someone stop 4 ft back from the white line a couple of days ago. That caused some confusion for a couple of seconds.
  8. Only one HDMI input? Is it gas powered?   Like others have said, get a splitter. Cheap off ebay. Don't even mess with the component stuff, that's legacy equipment. Digital all the way.
  9. I find it better to hang back anyway. Gives you a run-up when it is time to overtake.
  10.   Yes, there's always a Glock. Even for robberies committed with a knife.
  11.   One man's "burn your face off" is another man's "It's a bit bland". It's possible to build up quite a tolerance to the heat (and endorphins are released so there's some chemical fun going on also). The American palette, on average, tends towards the milder in my experience. "Spicy" here does not mean the same as "Spicy" in the UK (though the litigious nature here may have something to do with that).   With that said, I'm rarely into "burn your face" off stuff but I like spicy food to have a decent kick.
  12. The risk from a terrorist attack in the US is pretty small based on historic data. 9/11 was an anomaly and, honestly, that was 13 years ago now and occurred in a prime target. If it's ever going to be an issue around here, you'll get plenty of warning (and yes, IEDs, etc are the more likely mode of attack than "man with a gun" in any case.   Of the realistic reasons, they are more mundane. Robber, disgruntled co-worker, road-rage, mall shooter. There's really no reason not to be prepared for them all as a group than one in particular.
  13. Worse case scenario, it won't be a handgun I'm carrying.

    It's Hot

She normally gets let out the back for that but yes, business was taken care of.
  15. I'll just post that I have a work colleague that rescued a pit. He was living in a hotel at the time and looking for a place (I'm not sure exactly how he handled the dog situation) but he had a lot of trouble finding anywhere that would let him have it there. I think pets and dogs is hard enough but he was running into bans on pits specifically. He ended up in a place in Bon Aqua with a nice bit of land for the dog to run free on but it's a fair commute from work. Hope it works out well for the dog whatever way it goes though.

    It's Hot

Was not too bad outside just now so I took the dog for a walk. Then the sun came out. Abort, abort.
  17. Add stars? You just click on em.
  18.   I have some (full price, sadly). I find about five drops on a burger is plenty. You're right that it doesn't really add much taste but that's about the right amount of kick for me.
  19. The landline was a thorn in my side for a long time. For a while, we had to have it for the DSL. Then we ditched the DSL (they said they couldn't upgrade our speed though I could throw a stone from our house and hit the CO). Then my wife didn't want to get rid of it. In the end, I researched VOIP phones and came to the Oomla. It costs as low as just the regulatory fees per month (though the premium is pretty cheap, you may not need all the features). Cost $25 to port the number I think (though that might have come for free with the premium package). When I tested it, the sound quality was fine but I don't think that phone has hardly been answered in the meantime.   As it stands right now though, it's turning out that even that isn't really necessary. But it's proven the point and saved a few hundred dollars in the meanwhile
  20.   "Silver" is a car color because "Gray" would betray how dull it actually is.
  21.   You rate above Obama and Pelosi but below Charles Manson.   Oh wait, you're up to three stars now? Ignore me.
  22. I was thinking it but didn't want to say it.
  23.   Heh, yeah, perhaps we need to adjust the message for these communities. "When guns are outlawed, only cops will have guns"
