Because they have a charity fund raiser event to help the under priviledged children in the DC area and they have been doing it for many years. Probably one of the only real good things the Congress as whole does that benefits any Americans at all.....JMHO

"When someone starts shooting; they shoot them until they stop." That is exactly what those 2 Capitol Police officers did this morning even after being wounded themselves. My hat off to both of them for not stopping till the threat was ended..........

It would have been better had another UPS person would have been armed and shot him before he was able to kill 4 people but a good guy with a gun did stop him anyway.................

Not sure if this is the right place to post this and if not please move it to proper place. I'm sure many of you remember me telling you I lost my best friend and coffee buddy about 3 months ago. Well he had a lot of firearms mostly hand guns and I was told his son would be taking his firearms so I thought that ment all of them. I found out today the he only was interested in the hand guns and not what few long guns he had. I had to go by his home today and pick up a few fishing related items because he has a ton of fishing tackle I am trying to sell for his wife as I promised him back years ago I would do if anyhting happened to him. Anyway his wife told me she has no idea what she is going to do with all the guns in the gun case in his den/office. I said what guns and she took me in and sure nuff there is a gun case with about 8 long guns in it. I know what most of them are but there is a couple I don't know but I am going back over and take pictures of all of the long guns. They are for sale and once I have the pictures I will be posting them all along with the gun cabinet that is being sold. I am going to have to have some help on identifying a few of the guns and probably some price ideas. I think 2 of the rifles may be Russian made. 1 is long and one is somewhat shorter but bolt actions seem identical I think there is also a bayonnet assembly in the case that fits one 1 of them.

"I can't help but think they are intentionally inciting their fans. Either that or their just plain stupid." I would say it's a whole lot of both in this instance.............JMHO

I don't believe it is GODS will that anyone lives forever. Back in Biblical times people lived well over 100 years but if people lived that long now the earth would be very very over populated and the earth would not be able to feed and support that kind of population. I still believe that GOD has a plan and I never doubt him and what his plan is but accept what I cannot change in my life as his will....................JMHO -
I don't blame any of our elected officials on either side of the isle for packing heat with their job. What I do have an issue with is they don't want us to have that same priviledge in many instances and work so hard to try and deny us what they feel they should have. I am glad that the only one killed was the bad guy and Thank GOD for those brave Capitol Police officers for their action even after both being wounded by the bad guy...........
-
I don't doubt there are people in Congress that pack heat. In all honesty I think they would be a dumb person not to if they can legally do so. It will probably not get much attention if any..........JMHO

According to the Sheriff during the interview said these are some very dangerous men and he says that he has no doubt that they plan on going out in a blaze of glory. I hope they catch these 2 before they hurt someone else. Prayers to the families of the Correctional Officers.......

It says a lot about the Capitol Police when it comes to getting things done. They began returning fire almost imediately and from what I understand did take the bad guy down. I am listening to the reports and they said the gun used was a A-4 and they were just interviewing another guy that said he was close enough to the guy to see him carrying an AK47 and said that 3 times. That goes to show just how much politicians really know about firearms.

Yea that was what part of my problem was when I was drifting left, it I was softening up my grip over all. Once I fired that Lemon Squeezer 45 it taught me to keep both hands firm. My friend called that comfort relaxation which is a bad habit many shooters get into that can become more routine the more they shoot if they don't correct it. He said shooters need to learn not to accept less then their best and if their best is not 98% then they need to find out what the problem is and correct it.

My Grandfather lived to 101 and his brother my great uncle live to be 100 and they both made moonshine back in the 30's and 40's and drank it most of their lives, both smoked home rolled cigarettes most of their lives and chewed tobacco. They grew up doing hard work operating big farms they both owned and they grew all of their own tobacco they smoked and chewed. They also ate 99% of the food they grew or raised and butchered and only bought things like sugar, meal and flour. Everything else came from their gardens or pastures. They both credited longivity to the moonshine, home grown tobacco and not eating store bought food but living off what they raised and grew.............Don't know how true that is but can't say it's not true either................ -
I also had an issue with my rounds tending to drift let of center but only a few inches. First shot was normally dead on and as I continued to go through the magazine I for some reason seemed to always drift a little left but only a few inches by the time mag was empty. Finally a buddy of mine went to the range with me one day. He taught classes on hand gun safety and HCP classes. He just stood back and watched me for about 3 magazines and finally stepped up and gave me his assessment. He said that as he watched me I was softening up my grip which was allowing the gun to pull off to the left just slightly. He went out to his truck and came back in a with a lemon squeezer 45 and had 3 mags loaded for it. He said shoot this gun because it requires you to grip the gun firmly or it won't fire. We made three more trips to the range over the next month and each time my shooting improved with both my Bersa Thunder and my Bersa Model 85 until I was about 95 tp 98% dead on with both guns at 10 to 12 yards and about 90% at 15 yards. I know that is not perfect but with my vision beginning to fade a little back then I felt far more comfortable than I once did. Just that little tweaking made a bunch of difference in my confidence level. I am looking forward to when I get my eyes fixed so I can again enjoy the range. I did go about a week ago and burn up about 5 mags and I am still good to go up to 15 yards if it came down to defending myself wearing my glasses. Just thought I would share what I have learned about problem I was having...................

That would be like putting metal detectors on the sidewalks of Lower Broadway in Nashville !! I'm sure that would work with the crowds we had this past weekend huh???? I wonder how well that works during Mardi Gras????................

Oh yea, I have done all kinds of research on Hummingbirds and their migration patterns. When I first moved here just for giggles I saw Hummingbird feeders on sale at TSC store here so I bought one and then researched when I should fill it and hang it. Within about a week I had about 4 birds fighting over it so I went and bought another one and it another week I had to go buy another and the first summer I was here I had 6 feeders up and about 40 to 50 birds. I would set in my carport and watch them and there was times I thought I was going to get speared by one chasing another through the carport and I could feel the wind from their wings on my ears. I still enjoy sitting out side watching them but the last couple years I have not had the numbers of birds I did have back 6 or 8 years ago. I am beginning to wonder if the climate changing is having an effect on their migrations? I think the last bumpus year I had of birds was the year before that drought hit the southwest real hard and made it hard on them to find food during their migration. I hope to have more birds this year.................

I thought I remembered posting to it because Ronnie..55 asked me to let him know how I liked it and I said in the post that soon as I got to try I would post something and I posted I liked it a lot. Thanks OS, glad to know I'm not loosing my mind at least not all of it........

I agree 100%..............

I thought I posted to this but I did purchase one at Sumner Gun and Supply about 2 weeks ago and I love it. I like to empty my magazines at least once a month to get the mag springs some rest and let them remain unloaded over night. I know that topic has been covered and it is an option for all anglers to decide to do. I tried one on my double stack Bersa 85 and man I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. They are the cats meow. It works on my single stack mags also but I didn't have as much problem with them as I did the doubles..............

I have not seen any Red foxes here where I live but for past several years i have seen a small gray fox which I think is rare for this area but not sure. I have seen it several times while sitting out side in the evenings while watching the Hummingbirds fight over the feeders. I love whtching those little critters fight and fuss over 1 feeder when i have 8 feeders hanging up around the place. I think I have about 10 or 12 birds so far this year but expecting more as it gets hotter. I have had to fill the feeders twice since beginning of May. The gray fox was kind of skidish when it first showed up so I put a bowl of canned dog food at the corner of my yard next to a fence row and about sunset it will come out and eat some of the food. It's kinda of strange that my wild rabbit population has not seemed to get smaller as I have actually seen them out in the neighbors yard eating clover and the fox makes no attempt to chase them. I find it unique to have so many wild critters while living in town. I do have a very thick fence row of Honey Suckles and Briar bushes and in summer time cannot see neighbors house that is about 100 yards behind mine. The fence row runs about 15 blocks from Gallatin road to the first cross street down the road passed my house.

I have to disagree with a part of this. About a year ago Gallatin had some type of Fair on the Square event and they had no gun signs up everywhere and at each gate that people had to pass through to get on the square. There was also a Gallatin police officer at each gate. There was quit a few people that expressed their views about the gun signs and turned around and left. It was Street Fair they had been having for many years And last year was the first year for the signs and it had the lowest attendance since the fair began. The Street vendors were upset about the loss in revenue and they asked the promoter what he has changed and he said the only thing different was the no gun signs. I know 2 vendors that told him if he was going to do that this year they would not be attending. There was enough of a difference in attendance that the vendors were able to notice something was wrong. It is coming back again in August so waiting to see if the signs get put up again this year.

"It's when we got into the occupation business in Afghanistan and Iraq that people found themselves divided, and that's fair I think." I do agree with you 100% on this. I have never agreed with either one of those at all. I was all for going to Afghanistan and getting Al Quada but was not in favor of occupying the Country. I don't think we had a fight with the Taliban because I think Bin Laden and Al Quada were long gone from that country even before we put a force together to go after them. We should have used our Intelligence Agencies to find out where Bin Laden and his group went and focused on that. Our Intel has never been good regarding Al Quada going back to the Clinton Presidency. Shortly after the bombing of the World Trade center in 1993 our Intel told Clinton where Bin Laden was and Clinton had some missiles fired at him but when the strike site was inspected they learned that they had blown up a vacated Al Quada training center that had been empty at least a month. I don't even think Bin Laden was even in Afganistan when the planes hit the towers but had already vacated all of Al Quada from that country before the attacks knowing we would be coming for him. As far as Iraq. Biggest blunder by our government in recent history. Should have never been there period. All that did was destablize the entire region by removing Saddam Hussein from power. .................JMHO -

Back on December 7th 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor when the Japanese fleet turned and headed back to Japan the question was put to the Japanese Admiral Of we have an advantage so why are we not attacking the American Home Land. The Admiral turned and looked at the man asking the question and he replied , " Because we will be defeated because behind every blade of Grass is an American with a gun." That Japanese Admiral knew of the willingness of the American people to fight for the land they loved. He followed that stament up with another which was, "I fear that all we have done is awakened a Sleeping Giant and nothing more." I often wonder after looking at America and the politics of today just how many Americans still have that burning deep down feeling to fight for America as we once did. I wonder what would happen if an all out war between the Islamic Terrorists already in America broke out just how many of our young people would actually take up a (sword) weapon and actually fight for America. Many seem ready and willing to fight amongs ourselves over political issues and actually attack other Americans but would they be willing to fight for America? Have our children been to brain washed with Policitical Correctness to fight for America? I think these questions stand unanswered and probaly will till something big happens. Back On 9/11/2001 I did see a country come together and be united as 1 and I was proud. Shortly after the attack on the World Trade Centers The Muslims actually tried to build a Mosque on the site of the worse attack on American Soil but the American people stood up and it was defeated. Would the American people still do that today? Or has polictical Correctness made most of them back down? JMHO's
