  1. Crime stoppers says you can remian anoynomous and still receive the reward. I have never quite figure that out yet but that is what they say anyway. How can they not now who you are to make the reward payment to?..............
  2. Couch is 1 level about the sleeping bag on the floor so be happy...............
  3. I have often wondered about the world wide surveillace network myself. It has been said that most everyone in the world is under it everyday in some way. I won't say it is impossible but just does not seem entirely possible. If that were anywhere near true how come a bank robbery who they have at least 10 different pictures of is not caught right away or why do murders take place right out in the open on city streets and they say there are no witnesses. Why can the authorities not apprehend bad guys much quicker? Every evening the news will show clear pictures of robbers and ask for your help in catchng them and ask you to call police yet you never hear of anyone that knows this person or calls police even when rewards are offered. Just things I wonder about...............
  4. I am always interested in WWII artifacts and that one is very unique for sure...........
  5. I will say this and not say much else. I had 2 parents that raised 5 sons. I am 4 of 5. My father was not around a lot because he was a truck driver over the road so much of the raising was left to my mother. If there is one thing that remains in my memory of her was her temper. With that said at the age of 6 my mother got mad at me for bouncing a rubber ball in the house. I was in short pants cause it was summer and had no shirt on. She grabbed me and put me in a kitchen chair and took a 6 foot rubber coated extension cord and whipped me from my head to my feet stood me up and whipped my back and slammed me back down in the chair. Went to a kitchen drawer, pilled out a butcher knife and put it in my face. Her words to me were , You Little Son of a bit-ch, I brought you in this damn world and I can take you out of it. From that day until the day I learned she died in a house fire I never liked my mother. I loved her out of respect that she gave me life but I ever liked her ever again. I did not attend her funeral and I visit her grave because she is buried with my father which I dearly loved and respected. The only one of my siblings I spoke with was my oldest brother and he died 4 years ago. I don't know if any of the rest of them are alive or dead and really don't care as none of us have spoke in more than 10+ years. I do kind of know kind of where you are coming from Murgatroy but you have made a life for your family that is good and you are doing what you need to do right now and that is to vent!!! Talk about it, get what is locked inside you out and it will help. I know I kept stuff locked inside and when I was finally able to vent it was like the world was lifted off my shoulders. Hope it will work for you also. Venting is not asking for pity!!! It is getting stuff off your chest so you can make life even better in the future..............JMHO
  6. Ahhh You might be able to drowned worms but minnows might be a different story..........
  7. I don't know about TV by itself but now with the invention of the smart phones that allow you to do it all including watch your favorite TV shows and people that are sitting next to each other bench waiting for the Bus will text each other rather than just speak to each other. To me those are more enslaving then anything else. Stats show that the average person will check their cell phones an average of 100 times a day. Smart phones are more addictive than Morphine.......JMHO
  8. Funny but I thought there would be a few more on here..............
  9. GOSH!!!!! no fair............all I got when I was a kid was Lincoln Logs to build things with.....
  10. Ok , I know it's a little early to talk bass fishing but just wanting to know if we have any somewhat dedicated bass anglers here???
  11. Well I don't know how big the one was you got last year and I hope you reach your goal. My goal has been alot different. I would guess I have probably killed 100+ deer over my lifetime and as long as it was legal to shoot it went in the freezer and I never put a mount on my wall even though over the years I have taken about four 12 pointers and two 14 pointers back years ago while I lived on my Grandfathers Farm/Ranch. I think I can probably find the racks. I think they are down stored in one of my sons buildings. I always thought one day I would make something out of them but the years have slipped by to fast I guess. My Grand father told me if I was hunting for Antlers I need to go to Alaska. If I am looking for meat for the freezer take 4 points or less and let the big ones walk and that is what I have done since he told me that. If I had a 4 point and a spike come along together I would take the spike. I have 1 small buck in the freezer right now and I'm hoping for a couple does for it now. My son and Grandson said they could probably get me 1 more doe. They said those poachers screwed up their season this year.
  12. Congrads for sure!!!! bet that new freezer is getting a workout..............
  13. I have several friends that own mini farms and huge farms and both have Bobcats in their timber areas and the cats do hunt the fence rows at night as they put up trail cams to see what the deer are doing before the season opens. They did have a few Coyotes at one time but they all have said that they have not seen any on trail cams in years since the cats showed up. On guy sent me a picture of a female B Cat and three babies drinking water out of one of the farm ponds so they are reproducing on his farm in Cheatham county. He also said he would rather have the cats then Yotes. As far as Turkeys go Cats will kill a Turkey for food. Unlike a Coyote the Bobcat is an excellent climber and will take a Turkey out of a tree at night while they are roosting.
  14. +1 Yotes may run in packs but Bobcats are normally loners and Yotes won't stay where Bob cat have marked their territory......Can't compete for food against the cats
  15. Well I am not sure if it would really make a whole lot of difference if the stats where kept. Between the anti-gun people and the bias News Medias they would get distorted or Muddy it up so bad it probably would not make a lot of difference anyway. The Left/Anti-Gun, bias news medias don't want anything to come out of legal gun ownership or legal carry in any shape of form to be a positive note. It would make their jobs much much harder if that happened...........JMHO
  16. Has anyone ever found any of what could be considered accurate statistics showing how many non-LEO good guy civilians with CCL guns have stopped a bad guy with a gun to save their own life or the lives of others? I know not many News Medias like to say anything positive about the good guy acting in a good way to save someone or them selves by being legally armed but there has got to be some stats somehwere??????
  17. Welcome to Tennessee. Thanks you for your service!
  18. Ok, that I can understand. So Memphis actually has more murders than Chicago yet Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country which tells me what good are laws when you have a populace that does not fear the police or obey the laws. It does not put a lot of support behind anti gun people with a record like Illinois has with the laws. It also says alot about Memphis but then again doing a little googling of my own many of the shootings that take place are in West Memphis Arkansas and not in Tennessee. Probably does not mean anything and all considered as Memphis Tennessee in crime stats.
  19. I'm not to smart as I have said before about some things and I am trying to make sense of what your statement means. Make it a little easier on a not so smart old man please!
  20. Well My Tok was a 762x25 and as I got older it became a handful for me to shoot and I sure hated selling it but wanted someone to have it that could enjoy it like I did and I didn't want to make it a Safe Queen.
  21. If you look at the states that are the most against guns period they are all mostly controlled by Democrats. You will be hard pressed to find a red state that is against guns as much as any blue state. For the most part it seems to be just a control issue more than a gun issue. Illinois has some of the most strict laws in the country and has one of the largest crime rate related to guns and all they do is blame surrounding states for selling guns to Illinois residents which any one with any sense can see through that smoke screen. In many ways I think Chicago does not do anything about the gun issue in Chicago so they can use it as a crutch for the entire state. I lived in that state back in the 50's and mid 60's and at the age of 12 I legally bought my first hand gun and already owned several shotguns for hunting. I still have a friend I grew up with that still lives up there and he has told me you have to jump through HOOPS every year just to be able to buy a hunting license. He said it is almost like a back ground check to purchase a long gun. I'm sure glad my folks moved me back to my mothers home here in Tennessee when they did.
  22. I'm guessing your 100% correct. I would bet the Supreme Court is going to leave it up to each state to make their own laws regarding who can carry in their state which in many ways is probably the best way to do it. That way if people want to get the laws changed in that state they can do it at the voting booths in that state...........JMHO. I am happy with almost all of the laws in Tennessee except they need to do something about the Gun Buster signs but I don't ever see that happening because that is telling a business owner how to operate his or her business. I have just quit doing business with any wearing the signs cause there is another business down the road that does not have signs that sells to same items................
  23. I guess I have know Big John and Little John Hopkins for about 25+ years. I remember when Lil John really got into Bass fishing and was very good at it. He wanted to go Pro but big John had other plans for him.....lol When Lil John got married his dad retired and gave him Kelmar Wholsale and Fate Sanders Marina which of course ended his dream of Pro bass fishing because it took up all of his time running the businesses. As far as hunting Priest lake I have also hunted it but only on the Islands during Muzzle Loader or Bow and had to get to them by boat. I don't think they allow you to hunt them anymore. Have not been in many years. There may be a chance I met your father at Fate Sanders Marina while he was drinking coffee over there. I would go back when Big John was running it and when Lil John took it over. I was there about a year ago but don't go up there much now because I night fish and the marina resturant is closed at night. Your mother was very correct when she said getting old is not for Sissies!!!!! Hope you have that Back Strap on Christmas as its a tradition that needs to continue.......
  24. What caliber are they. I had a buddy that had one of them and he had 2 different barrels for his and he could shoot 9MM or 762x25 ammo in it. We use to go to the range and I would shoot my Tokarev and he would shoot his Makarov. I sold my Tok a few years back and justa couple weeks ago I sold the last of the 762x25 ammo to a member here. I enjoyed shooting the Tok but as I got older it became a little much for my ability to hold it tight enough. I think he sold his also for about the same reason a little later.
  25. I would say since you have had success with your model 94 30-30 which is by all means a great gun you might look at staying with a 30-30 and move to a Marlin with a scope. Should be a fairly easy transformation over as your still using a lever gun like you have been using for years.........JMHO
