    .50 AR

I went through this decision last year. I went .50beo. Reloading is much easier and more forgiving than bottleneck cartridges. Also, I didn't have a .50 anything. I would skip radical firearms, they've had a few issues with barrel extensions coming unscrewed because they melonite the complete assembly after torquing. I went with the set from midway made by Liberty Barrels. It's an excellent shooter. i bought a .458 stripped receiver from AeroPecision(the port is opened up to eject larger cases). I found .50 beo stuff easier to source at the time. Reload data is scattered but available. Hornady included it in their most recent manual. I highly recommend the new limbsaver recoil pad replacement for Magpul stocks, it took a good amount of sting out of the recoil with the heavy loads. I'll probably hunt with mine this year using 500grn cast, I'm sure it'll anchor just about anything.
  2. Only if you submit(postmark for paper, pending for e-file) prior to July when 41f takes affect. Then everyone(responsible person, not beneficiaries) in the trust has to send in fingerprints and photos for every submission. If you have a trust, form 1 everything via e-file, NOW! I'm pending 3 now, will do 4more at least in next 30days. After that, I'll file as a individual.
  3. There are NO signs of high pressure readable in strait wall pistol cartridges, only failure. I know you're new to reloading, but don't try reading too much into pistol brass, clean, size, check for splits, reload and shoot. Stay with published data. Case swell like in Glocks is directly related to the gun, not the load.
  4. Many of the "optics ready" models come n this basic configuration for obvious scope mounting ease. OP, If you don't have armorer tool and vice block. Start there(torque wrench doesn't hurt either). Many of the rails on the market require proprietary tools. Decide on the rail(you really want 4 rails?, they're heavy pigs). Customizable systems with solid top rail are much lighter and streamlined, just add rails or mount accessories where needed. Also, you need to pick a budget. Most anything under $100 is junk. I highly recommend ALG for easy install(comes with install wrench and shims) and easy on the wallet but not lacking quality also the Mlok mount system is solid and standardized with lots of aftermarket support.
  5. Might wanna do some research on the full auto rating, a few warped tubes. Unless things changed, they had a limit of one mag and then cool down period. Ti and full auto usually don't mix very well for heavy use. Stainless, stellite, inconel are preferred.
  6. Aimpoint Pro or CompM4. Otherwise 1-4/6, strike eagle seems like good deal for $350. Budget, primary arms advanced micro dot with 50k battery life, I have one and it's excellent. Leupold makes some decent AR scopes in the $300+ range.i don't do BD scopes so I cant comment on reticles.
  7. The 308ar/ar10 is by no means lightweight. Once fired 7.62x51 brass is usually military LC machine gun fired and requires special care to be used, I form .260remington from it and it's a pain. 300blk was the second rifle cartridge I loaded, all from formed LC brass(my once fired cases), it's a pain to make too but much easier. .308 uses much more powder, mags are more expensive and the platform isn't standardized between manufacturers, it is a sizable investment getting into the autoloading 308AR(mine is 260rem as above). BUT, the .308 is a much more capable cartridge, where 300blk isn't much more powerful then .223, and less than 7.62x39 or 30/30. For woods carry, I prefer the AR15 in 300blk(which I actually hunt with a Handi rifle in 300blk because it's much lighter. For range, bench, prone, the AR308.
  8. I own both, 300blk and 7.62x39 ARs. My X39 is a green mountain barrelled upper I built. It is 100% reliable, I use new generation ASC and C products mags(known a J mags, will fit AR mag pouches). I reload, but for the x39, all I run is cheap steel case and that's what I built it for. Some folks have issues, a lot is secondary to crap steel cases ammo, crap bolts(bolt thrust is an issue), incorrect firing pins, weak extractors, mags,etc.... I have no experience with the PSA x39stufff, but everything else I've gotten from them has been good. I used a rubber city armory 7.62x39 bolt and a red x enhance firing pin, zero issues. Got close to 1k through it to date. Sometimes it's nice to pick up ammo and just shoot and not to have to reload it . I think you need to decide what's more important, supersonic hunting or subsonic fun. If I wasn't heavily invested in subsonic shooting and needed a light and capable rifle that'll take deer out to 200-ish yard, the x39 would have been the easy choice. Not to mention, it has 150-200fps advantage over 300blk with full house 125grn loads. The above 16" rifle clocks Tula black box right at 2400fps.
  9. Aimpoint. Been some issues with the MRO.
  10. I only load .40 with aa5. It is "the" powder as far as I'm concerned. Lots of room for variation in charge. I really like 200's at 850 in the .40, this is my do all load including competition. I've used power pistol and it's good, good for velocity and increased recoil impulse. If I want velocity and recoil, I'll break out the 10mm.

    AR Lowers

Honestly my favorite are Mega. The best quality standard forged lowers available. Built my SBR's from them. Love that the uppers are engraved with Mega also. Also like AeroPrecision.
  12. Just maybe a little hope for the form 1 folks. form 1 suppressor Submitted 10/6/15 Approved 1/27/15 I'll be building a 22can this weekend :)
  13. Same story here. Washing machine in mid December, had to run new gray water line also on a slab, drilled big hole in exterior brick wall to run 2" line. Dishwasher out last week. 2 appliances in months.
  14. Swr doesn't exist anymore(except in name with new laser rangefinder). Now silencerco.
  15. Being a big 1911 fan, Kimber doesn't even show up on my radar. Stupid Schwartz safety. Rather have a RIA. Also, they are high if they think a revolver is the new concealed carry game changer.
  16. "30.06 is never a mistake" Col. Townsend Whelen “A good rifleman plus a good rifle will shoot, see straight, think straight and will run our country straight.”—TW, 1932
  17. A couple AR SBR's before 41p goes into affect Desert Tech MDR in .308 FDE A few more AR to finish up-retro A1, a1 9mm carbine, dedicated 4.5" 22lr A Baer or GI 1911 (Hopeful shot show release) Glock 43-.40cal AS MANY NFA TAX STAMPS AS MY BUDGET ALLOWS BETWEEN NOW AND 41p ?
  18. Tons of good 22 cans out there. Depends on budget. Pick a major manufacturer and go for it. Gemtech, AAC, Liberty, Silencerco, Dead Air(Mask would be my current pick), Griffin Armament, surefire, Sig and others. Same advice and budget applies to centerfire rifle cans. Also, if you're the least bit handy and have access to the right tools, file a form 1 and build them.
  19. 22lr and .223 have very different characteristics. I highly recommend a dedicated, user-serviceable rimfire supressor. Then a nice .30 can for everything else.
  20. Nice video, lots of shooting, no BS
  21. Nothing compared to the NFA game. Used to waiting for stuff I really want.
  22. No worries, didn't take it that way. Thanks again!
  23. "Mall ninja", no. Really looking for something that does what my 3gun stuff does but sans shotgun. This would be for certain shoots/matches/classes where the competition belt just won't do. The biggest "if" is secure mounting of a pistol. Being able to grab and go like my comp gear would be nice. I'm kinda thinking at this point that Esstac trim bush with a few pistol tacos might do the trick. Only problem with osoe is the wait/uncertainty of delivery. ETA: thanks to all who replied thus far
