  1. I love the DanielDefense sights for fixed. AeroPrecision just released their new folding sights.
  2. I think you've got your ballistics mixed up. The 25-45 Sharps is barely more efficient than .223 or 6x45. It's got nothing on Grendel or 6.8. There is another wildcat that is slightly shorter, the 25-223 that will allow use of heavier and higher BC bullets. The Sharps gets its best number from 20" barrels using the 87grn Speer hot core bullet. Beowulf is as effective as any other large bore rifle, it is only limited by the shooters ability to learn holdovers and use them affectively. 45-70 killed thousands of buffalo and men from much further than 150yds with black powder shooting cast 405grn bullets. I run 500's in mine, I'd have no qualms shooting large deer or black bears with it at 200yds.
  3. Done with the trust and Form 1's after the change. I'm not asking my family members in my trust to send in photo/fingerprints for my hobby.
  4. 300blackout is fun, but if you're not wanting to run subsonic, there are better options. 7.62x39 bests 300blk by about 200fps, and with real rifle bullets, x39 carries its energy better and further than 30-30(even with the 30-30 having about 200fps on it with 125grn flat nose bullets). The 6.5 will stretch to the 400-500yd mark and stay in the velocity envelope of bullet performance with 125grn bullets, this is roughly 100-150yds further than the 30's. BUT, the x39 has sweet cheap steel cased ammo for all around shooting and practice. I have the AR's in x39 and 300blk, both serve different purposes. For 6.5, I went 260rem in the AR308 platform, it'll knock the socks off any the small platform cartridges, but obviously in a larger, heavier platform.
  5. Could be a multitude of issues. Possibility he used an oversize bore? But Zero reduction sounds weird to me. I shot my form 1 22 without the baffles in, it does a pretty good job still. I recently just finished a 9mm form 1. Also a 1.14ID. I went with 9 60 degree cones, 8 clipped. 6 are Ti and 3 7075 aluminum. Everything else except booster/piston is Ti. Here's a link to pics http://form1suppressor.boards.net/thread/795/9mm-tube-build-complete
  6. That's how the cartridge started, was called 45-08 Armco at one point. Brass has to be inside reamed/turned to accept projectile. I wouldn't shoot this stuff in any gun without some proper modifications. It would most likely shoot a standard sprung 45 1911 loose in a few mags.
  7. Hold off on that trigger work. Clean and shoot. My factory trigger sits at 2.5lbs with a ridiculously short reset.
  8. ^^^^ I was gonna suggest same ordered 2 of them recently, the Rm1's. My go to guns all run on AA's now. And a plus, they can run cr123's also.
  9. I'll add another to your list. If you just have to have magnified optics on a HD gun. burris mTac http://swfa.com/Burris-1-4x24-MTAC-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P50898.aspx in your price range and a true 1x. Personally, for home defense, nothing but a red dot will do, scope isn't quick enough and sucks in low light. Red dot allows both eyes open and greater field of view. My go to rifle has a aimpoint compM4. The aimpoint pro is great also, just upgraded for the longer battery life and use of AA batteries to match my weapon light.
  10. Gees, I've got AR pistols, but I wouldn't want to even fire my Beowulf in pistol format. Full loads are similar to a 12ga pump, recoil wise.
  11. Given that one can is the same size. The tighter bore is more efficient at stripping gasses. But most cans are caliber specific, size wise and bore wise. 223 usually is more quiet in 30 caliber sized cans. 22lr really quiet but usually has a tad more first round pop.
  12. Inheritance items are a non-tax transfer. A single person trust is the same as an individual under new rules. Best to name a beneficiary other than yourself, they are not a responsible person and can not be in possession until written in as trustee. Ill file as an individual from here on out. Everything I've got is Form 1 stuff anyway, and the trust was easiest way to file when this began via e-file.
  13. The trust isn't the issue. The photographs and fingerprints are. Currently, my items are owned by an entity, not an identity. My other trustees have no desire(currently) to own or possess the trust items, but they can if needs be or they want. None of them are "on file" for my hobby, nor will they be in the future. Same with my beneficiaries in the future, my kids are not sending in fingerprints and photos to own these items when the time comes. Everybody keeps saying 41f isnt that bad. I think it's terrible. This is how we lose, in small steps.
  14. If you have had an approval in last 24months, and nothing has changed, you don't have to send new trust documents. I would send them anyway if I were still going through the hassle with pics and prints.
  15. For trusts: prints and photos for every responsible party for every application. New trust documents only if 2yrs has passed since last approval. Individual: no more Cleo sign off, only notification I will not be doing anymore Form 1's after implementation. Pretty much got everything I want filed already. My Trust will have 14 NFA items when said and done .
  16. You made the right choice. I've recommended that rifle numerous times to people as an alternative to the others you spoke of. AP makes good stuff.
  17. I'll throw a wrench in the works. Another excellent option, Savage 340. This is a bolt action 30-30. There are a bunch out there, go for $200-$300(usually with scope) and are a great value. Also was sold as Stevens 325, savage 840, etc.... Ill echo the comment about Hornady leverloution ammo, it'll stretch the common available 30-30 loads by about 50yds. I used it until I started reloading .
  18. I've bought the upper in question last year. Pretty much built 2 ARs as Christmas gifts for my brothers. The upper is a great value. I found a cardinal forge marked removable carry handle and the gun was done. Runs great, reasonable accurate.
  19. Had 1 of 3 Anderson lowers that had enlarged trigger pin, only on left side. Fired 3 rounds, gun locked up, dropped the pin into the receiver. It now has a set of anti-walk pins. Other 2 were perfect. Still, what's $40-70 difference? Given the nature of its purpose, I choose not to cheap out on the lower. I'll stick with aero precision or PSA, spikes, mega, etc...
  20. Just offering options. Built/building all mine :)
  21. Just put a form 1 in to beat the deadline. You can build it as funds allow.
  22. No external slide, bottom load. Even safety and slide release are like an 870. Similar in size to the smaller 20ga frames. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Anybody remember the IWI Timberwolf? One of my few "lust" guns. Pretty much an 870 sized down for revolver calibers.
  24. Easy answer :) side charging upper with adjustable gas block shut off. Stick it on one of these lowers and your done :) http://www.midwestgunworks.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SCR-LWR-MC&Store_Code=mgwi Side charger upper http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Spartan_Side_Charge_Non_Reciprocating_Billet_Upper_p/jb-non-recip-upper.htm
  25. There are other options. The Burris XTR II 1-5 mil/mil. I use it on my 3gun rifle. I also despise BDC reticles. Also runs cheaper than the SWFA, which was in the running when I got the Burris, the 1x was so much crisper and clearer and eye relief at 5x was better(for me, I don't run NTCH). I paid $740 shipped from EuroOptic http://www.burrisoptics.com/scopes/xtr-ii-riflescopes-series/xtr-ii-riflescope-1-5x24mm
