  1. If trigger doesn't reset, it won't cycle. Pretty common with aftermarket triggers when pushing the boundaries of the platform. My 22 upper will only run 100% with factory triggers. About 98% with aftermarket.
  2. Gun barrel is the cartridge gauge, load to the gun, not the gauge. I've always sized .401 though.
  3. Here is the B tube turned down Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've actually got one of those also. Turned down between the threads to get weight down, walls are overly thick. It's off getting laser engraving and cerakote as we speak.
  5. There's a couple different ways to look at the cost of the VSR 30 cal above. 1. The cost was spread out over multiple purchases. $200 stamp, $150 VSR's, $300 solvent trap. Never had to lay down a large chunk, kinda like building AR's. 2. I don't have any stocking class 3 dealers near me and they have taxes and transfer fees for those that are class 3. 3. The pride of self accomplishment. 4. The least expensive all Ti cans run in the low $700 range before stamp 5. Weighs 18oz, petty light considering size I have shot it next to other people's commercial cans, it is on par with those, none were newest hottest models out though. If a commercial can was easier for me to get, I'd most likely gone that route. For baffles I'll make, I'll only follow in footsteps previously laid out in the commercial market, the skirted and clipped 60degree conical baffle is well proven, my machine skills to date are not :) I've got a few projects that will make a form 1 a necessity, a titanium 50 Beowulf can and a integral Mauser in 45auto. Both have commercial samples, neither is cheap.
  6. Quick videos on the Handi rifle You can hear bullet impact at about 150yds http://youtu.be/BVoVq9oabSU Another backyard http://youtu.be/_IglpcfDfjk
  7. The solvent trap supplier is way back logged at this time. He's put off new orders until caught up. There are a couple other companies offering similar solvent traps. I used this company before they had a website, everything was custom order via e-mail http://diversifiedmachine.info Mine from here on will be made from raw materials on my lathe.
  8. The parts above, another solvent trap, made from Grade 5 Ti, about $230. It is a .357 cal can made mostly for 5.5" 9 AR SBR and .357 Max Handi rifle. Works on Griffin Armament rifle taper mounts, bored out .413. I just bought a lathe, it'll get filled with clipped 60degree cones. Waiting on 6more form 1 supressor stamps and 2 more SBR's.
  9. I have another, it was really easy to build from repurposed stuff. Ran $450+stamp. Titanium solvent trap and titanium VSR's. 8.5"x 1.625"OD, 30cal, shown on 10.5" 300blk SBR Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Hey all, I've got a couple serialized tubes I haven't started to fill yet. This idea came up on another site. Pretty much using OxiClean(not Oxy) powdered detergent additive to lightly oxidize shiny Titanium. Here's how it goes, get container that'll hold your parts and allow enough water to cover them, boil said water, mix 4 scoops OxiClean and let it sit for a few hours or more, pull it out and wipe down, add a few drops of gun oil, run and done. One caveat, must prep metal, I used a green 3m pad to smooth and sand and I used acetone to degrease and didn't touch with bare hands after and a finish wash of dawn soap and warm water. Parts on left, turned spacer material right In solution After 3.5hrs 1 drop FP10 rubbed on lower 1/4 Final product, same spacer for reference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Griffin has too many cans I want. The new Alpha looks good also.
  12. The limits of a 10mm 1911 relates to colt delta elite and the un-ramped barrel. Any of the ramped barrel 10mm 1911's(properly sprung) can take the same loads as a g20. I've shot the standard 200 at 1200 out of both and the 29.
  13. A good air soft pistol stings pretty good. I've chased the cats and coons away with one my oldest boy has. I live in town so small arms fire is a no go.
  14. Depending on budget, RIA makes a 10mm 1911 about the cost of a new Glock 20. I have seen an STI officers sized 40s&w 1911 reamed to 10mm. Dan Wesson makes a few different models including a long slide. STI has a few also. Could also look at EAA, cz75 clones.
  15. Ruger only data, go heavy or go home :) I like 255's around 950fps for all around load. I do load 290's up to about 1100fps(this load is no joke). Here's a great bit of load data with loads in all ranges. http://www.riflemagazine.com/magazine/PDF/HL%20246partial.pdf
  16. Also the same one PSA uses. I bought my lower from runner runner. Waiting on stamp. Just didn't want "joe bob's" anywhere on my SBR....
  17. Nope, carried there at least 3 times.
  18. Agreed, good design. I have pushed the decapping pin free of the collet before(berdan primer in the mix). I have also seen crimps that won't let go of the primer and have pushed the face of the primer out but still crimped in. I run my de capper about 1/8" past bottom of die. Never had a problem since. No problem using the hand press, do it. I use one to resize and decap during winter months while I watch the tube. Have resized and deprimed 30-06 with it. Those old thighmaster commercials come to mind...
  19. I'll re-join this with further reflection. Hornady One-Shot leaves a residue(I use it 90% of the time for about 5yrs now and 10's of thousands of rounds),I tumble it off. I also use imperial sizing wax and Lee sizing lube. I tumble it all off.
  20. I re-tumble, doesn't take long , brass is already clean
  21. AR? Just swap the upper... No forms required. Only issue I could see is if you didn't engrave caliber on a "multi" marked lower, barrel markings count for required caliber marking. All my AR SBR's are marked or engraved with caliber that was on Form1 on lower receiver.
  22. Might wanna try Morgan at Class3machining. I know he's done Glocks. He is well known for barrel threading, actually threads for some major manufacturers. He is top notch, nice guy to boot. Responds quickly on Facebook if you wanna go that route. http://class3machining.com
  23. If new to casting, I highly suggest getting the basics down with a low pressure pistol round. The 45 is about the easiest caliber to cast for and get great results off the bat. Rifles, unless downloaded substantially, require some advanced techniques to truly get accurate results. Also, if you gonna lead up a barrel your first go, might as well be a short one. I highly recommend the Lyman #4 cast bullet manual for load data and a reality check for to what expect from a rifle and how to get those results. I cast for everything from .223-50beowulf, some stuff I still load jacketed as there is no way to get there with cast performance.
  24. Coleman stove, small pot, ladle and mold. That's it. You most certainly could do small batch casting, no smoke is involved.
