  1. Check the link in the OP, it appears to be working.
  2. I've been there a couple of times. My family usually goes to Natchez once or twice a year. As others have said, the range setup is not the best, but it does work. I've never seen anyone else there when I've been there, luck of the draw i guess. KimberChick - did the campground you stayed have electric? There are 2 camping areas at Cub Lake, #1 has water/electric and "flattened" camping areas (usually for those with campers). #2 is the lower area and is more for tents. #2 used to have electric, until people started getting shock when touching the water spigots. Sucks we usually stay at campground #2, but with 2 little ones having the electric comes in quite handy. Guess this year i'll just have to bring the inverter and generator. There is also an Archery range near the Pin Oak camping area.
  3. Glad it all worked out. Ah the JOYS of home ownership!!

    Ran outta gas

typically I fill up at a 1/2 tank, that's bad enough with a 36gal tank. I ran out of gas, ironically in font of a gas station, in my "old" truck, an '87 F150 with dual tanks. The front take didn't work (selector function was broken) and the gauge for the rear tank was wacky. So I just used mileage. Well, I filled up one night, reset the trip odometer, and thought nothing of it. A couple days later the gauge was at "E". I thought I just filled up, the gauge finally died. Well, on my way to my second job that night I ran out of gas, someone must have helped themselves to the approx 15 gal that were left in that tank. That night I put on locking caps and never had a problem. I've since sold that truck.
  5. What Garufa said. I've ordered from them many times for some of my older guns.
  6. Marlin Model 336 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia According to that, it was mfd in '48 I've got a Marlin with a SN starting with F, made in '49
  7. That so needs to get posted on Failbook - Funny Facebook Status Messages ( Failbooking )!!!
  8. Um, ok, so you incur an overdraft charge of what $35.00 now? Are you really going to be able to get enough interest out of the money in your savings account in the short amount of time it will be there to cover that?
  9. I have a Win Defender with pistol grip only. It's not that bad shooting. Now shooting a short barrel (10" or so) is FUN to shoot. Sent from my Android
  10. What what filter to get is a hard question to answer. What is the intended purpose? Do you need portable or base camp style? What type of water do you expect to filter (heavily soiled, running stream that is clear, stagnant pond water)? The water bob is a neat idea, but it has it's limits. You're typically only going to fill it up just before you expect a problem. If you are not at home when disaster strikes who's gonna fill it up? I'm not saying it's entierly bad, I intend on getting one for the house. While I have not pulled the trigger (so to speak) on my water filters I'm leaning towards: house/base camp - Berkey filter (Berkey Light Water Filter) for BOB something like a Katadyn Hiker. Cleanable ceramic filter, can use a pre-filter on the water to get the "big" chunks out (coffee filter works great). In my GHB I have an Aquamira Frontier (Aquamira Frontier Filter — Aquamira Water Treatment Products) Every situation is different, you just need to evaluate what you need your filter to do and get one that's reasonably priced.
  11. How old is it? It doesn't sound like the "beams" are out of alignment. If you press and release the button, do the light flash at all or does the door just return to the open position? Usually, if the beams are out of alignment, once the door returns to full open it will flash the lights to let you know there was a problem. Maybe it's just time for a new one?
  12. If you were closer I'd give you some of the FD veggies I have. I can eat the FD Sweet Corn right out of the can as candy. Once hydrated the corn & peas are just as good, or better than canned. Now the FD meals, while not the best thing in the world they are OK. Check out Walmart, they have MH FD foods in the camping section. Heck, my kids loved the FD ice cream, I was actually shocked at that. Soda bottles work great, or any juice bottle. Just don't use milk jugs or the like for long term storage, they will leak eventually, sometimes slow enough that nothing around them is wet even though the jug is empty.
  13. Keeping in mind water is HEAVY! Minimum to have on hand should be 1 gal per person per day. This does not account for washing and sanitary needs and may not be enough if cooking lots of beans & rice. Keep not only storage but also use in mind. Find something that can be put on a counter or similar and have a spigot attached to it. Walmart has some 5gal "cubes" that work great. As far as protein goes, rice & beans makes a complete protein. Incomplete vs Complete Proteins If you are looking at 30 days, then you would probably do fine with a few cans of tuna or chicken or salmon along with some rice & beans. What do you eat now? If you are expecting something to last 30 days or longer and assuming no power, are you going to let all your meat in your freezer go bad? Learn how to make some jerky from the meat in your freezer. At the start of your emergency, make the jerky, you wont loose that as a protein source. And why don't you want "freeze dried" food? Have you tried some recently? I keep several #10 cans of Mountain House freeze dried entree's on hand. Some are better than others, but my very picky kids have eaten everyone that we have tried. Note, I did not wait until a disaster to try these, we just picked one night a month and said that we would prepare something form long term storage.
  14. Will have to disagree with you there, I think they are nasty. Now, give me some "Bit-o-honey", YUMMY . Bit-o-honey started in 1924 in Chicago, so still a nice piece of history.
  15. Love it, I also go to Failbook - Funny Facebook Status Messages ( Failbooking )
  16. I've got .25-20 rounds. Getting it to you is the problem. Anybody else in the Memphis are that is willing to donate? we can combine and split shipping costs since it can't be mailed.
  17. Well, you could run a windows virtual machine from within linux. Then you can still run your windows apps. But that is not what I was suggesting. If you are going to shoot the thing, give it to a geek that will put linux on it. If it truly is a windows issue they wont notice a problem. If you wanna ship it to me, I'll pay for the shipping. Just a thought.
  18. Scrap the windows install and load a flavor of Linux (Ubuntu, Mint, Redhat, etc.) Sorry, I'm no real help. If you were closer I'd take the laptop off your hands and load Ubuntu and let the wife use it.
  19. Ice Pirates is cheesy, yes, but it's a great movie!! I loved the movie as a kid and still like it
  20. Got this from fox, didn't see any threads relating to it: FOXNews.com - Injuries reported in explosion at southwest Tenn. plant that makes military flares Cris Hill, a dispatcher at the Hardeman County sheriff's office, says an unknown number of people were hurt in the explosion Tuesday at the Kilgore Flares Co. plant in Toone. Hope all recover quickly.
  21. You beat me to it, I think those were from another house. I liked how they were trying to pull the stairs up and the rope broke. As soon as they started I thought, "there should be no one under that thing in case those ropes break", then BAM, the rope broke
  22. A couple of things about that episode. 1) "tick" called Reno by name and Reno didn't even bat an eye at the fact that Tick knew all their names. 2) The "president" of the group invites Tick to join them w/o first talking it over with the others. 3) they finally build a watch tower, but don't keep it occupied at all times, why build it then? 4) everybody complaining about what the logger named the boat. Like there aren't bigger things to worry about then the name of the boat. 5) making the ethonal for the airplane/boat motor. How about instead of wasting time with that, everybody work on gather food. Lets see fuel for the boat or food so we can live, which is more important?
  23. The one time I had it planned to go out with a buddy of mine and 2 of his sons for some "survival" camping, my wife ended up have surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. Never rescheduled the "campout". We were going to go to Natchez Trace and go on the backcountry trails for 3 days, 2 nights.
  24. Looks interesting. I might like it, I know the wife won't LOL
