  1. Oldogy I am sorry to hear about your son. I have ridden for several years but I could never use my bike as an everyday commuter. I enjoy getting out of town or going to Deal's Gap to have a little "therapy" but every time I head into town I feel like someone put a huge target on my back. I would like to think that I am a smart, somewhat skilled rider but when most drivers are on their cell phone, eating, petting there pomeranian or some other stupid activity it just doesnt make it worth the risk. Another thumbs up for the MSF class, it not only made me a better rider, it made me a better driver while in my car.
  2. A bit off the subject but seeing several of you talk about Hank Sr makes me think about my grandfather. My grandpa grew up with Hank in the Montgomery area and sang with him quite a bit early in his career. Grandpa finally hung it up when Hank's mother repeated threatened to have him arrested for sneaking Hank alcohol while they were trying to keep him clean. The memories of my grandpa putting a Hank record on and singing a perfect harmony with him still makes the hair on my arms stand up. And to get back on topic, I agree the Nashville pop music sucks, if was was going to listen to county music it would be George Strait.
  3. I have been tazed while it sucks I would rather ride the lightning than be gassed.
  4. Ocoee ziplines are okay but I like the Nantahala Canopy Tour a lot better.
  5. I rode the lightning 3 weeks ago myself. 5 seconds that feel like an eternity.
  6. I agree, Ft O is nice, Rossville is a dump for the most park.
  7. Congrats. A lot of good advice in the posts above so I wont repeat it. Be safe, be smart and have fun.
  8. Definitely check the Apple website. You can get refurbished(still comes with the warranty) 1st Generation iPad pretty cheap right now. They are trying to get rid of the 1st Gen ones. I have two of them and see no reason to pay for the 2nd Gen version. I just checked the site for you. In the 3G models (no contract) they only have the 64GB model. That is the biggest hard drive they have right now and should hold anything he should ever need to put on it. The price is $529, free shipping. For $499 you can get the new model 2nd Gen but the hard drive is only 16GB. hope this helps.
  9. Your response doesn't make sense. Your are comparing apples to oranges. You complain that your neighbor only got two officers to respond to an ARMED ROBBERY. I dont think that the entire CPD was in route to the pawn shop when it was still only an ARMED ROBBERY. Things change when shots are fired and an officer gets wounded or killed. I can assure you that if your neighbor had been shot and the offender was still there shooting at people, he too would have had more than just two officers respond. Anyone who thinks that this part of Brainerd Road is a bad part of town has surely lived a sheltered life. As for the guy who lives in Ooltewah and hates Chattanooga, I live in Ooltewah and you are fooling yourself if you dont think this sort of thing could not happen there or anywhere else. That nice new liquor store by the pretty new Publix could have just as easily been this guys target. Just 2 weeks ago the new Bilo out near Apison was held up, all the employees were tied up. That took place in a very upscale part of the Chattanooga area, most houses near that store are range from $300K up into the millions. My point is its everywhere and you have to watch your back. I'm sure everyone that lives in Memphis is tired of people saying their entire city is a crap hole too.
  10. Right on! Any of you "NORMAL FOLKS" want to go out and risk your life for ungrateful strangers everyday are welcome to do so. I feel that CPD does the best job that they can with the personnel and resources they are given.
  11. If you Google it you will get multiple places that sell it. I have always gotten it from my brother in law, i emailed him about it today but havent heard back yet. Its not cheap but you use so little to treat the gas that it last a really long time.
  12. How can there be violence there? Didnt they take away all the evil guns from the citizens years ago?
  13. I have always said that its not what's in the water but what's in the air. Concrats!
  14. There is a product called PRI-G that is an excellent gas treatment. If you have a sealed container and annually treat your gas the self life is almost endless. They make a version for gasoline and another (PRI-D)that treats both kerosene and diesel. Since proof is in the pudding, last month my brother in law who introduced me to PRI-G decided to rotate a 55 gallon barrel of fuel that he bought for Y2K. He has treated it annually for 11 years. He ran his Durango to near empty and filled it with only the old gas, he filled his lawnmower with only the old gas. He ran out the tanks in both without a sputter from either. That is proof enough for me. I treat everything with PRI-G, it removes many of the negatives of using ethanol gasoline. I try to never run anything but pure gas in my motorcycles but if i get stuck using 10% ethanol I always treat it first.
  15. From my back deck I can see the steam from the Sequoia cooling towers. I cant see the towers themselves because the next ridge over blocks me from seeing them. I can hear the warning sirens every Wednesday at noon. I havent missed a minute of sleep worrying about something happening. The chances are slim and nothing I can do about it anyway.
  16. I am definitely an MMA fan, watch most UFC fights. I have been training Brazillian Jiu Jitsu for about 6 months.. It's certainy a sport that takes at least a decade to master.
  17. I will for your son, you and your family.
  18. Ok I'll play. Last year I had swollen to 216 lbs, I'm 5'10". My dad who was 61 and in better shape than most 20 year olds dropped dead from a heart attack. To say this was a major wake up call is an understatement. Last september I started going to the gym three days a week, training Jiu Jitsu two days a week, eating better and running. I am now 200 lbs and have much more lean body mass. I still need to loose 25 lbs but im cool with the slow and steady course that I am on. Last Summer I was a fat sloth, today I am 3 months from my 40th birthday and in better shape than when I was in high school. This Sunday all my training will be put to the test when I compete in the Tough Mudder race near Atlanta. For those who don't know, the Tough Mudder is a 11 mile course with 20 obsticles designed by the British Special Forces. It is billed as the toughest one day event on the planet. If I survive I'll post up a pic or two. If this goes well I plan on doing the Warrior Dash this September near Nashville.
  19. Done, and thank you both for your service.
  20. Will this class cover how to chase mischievious teens with an AR though a condo parking lot?
  21. I think that many world leaders are worried about what has happened in Egypt. I know that the Castro family in Cuba is worried that the Cuban people may follow Egypt's lead. The trouble with American's is that it is hard to get them too excited about anything unless it's for something like American Idol or some other worthless reason. If American's do ever get to that point I can assure you they wont be riding camels and throwing rocks at each other, that is why the current administration is going to push gun control. A million people protesting and fighting in the streets of an American city would be much different.
  22. Done, sorry about your friend. I will pray for his family.
