Check this link out: http://www.local8now.com/news/headlines/Blount-County-Sheriffs-Office-investigating-thumbtack-pokes-in-high-school-225596602.html If ya had any doubts about the idiocy of local government, even in relatively sensible areas of our great state; just remember this... Could be a "1861 pocket police cylinder"... It wasn't unusual for these percussion revolvers, especially the "well used" ones to have extra cylinders or orphaned cylinders from another revolver... The lanyard loop is interestin too... It may have been added by an old time gunsmith...They were popular round the ww1 era... Remember, many of these old percussion revolvers were regularly used up into the 1930's... They were (...and still are...) accurate, relatively dependable, and deadly in the right hands... I tend to think that Spots has found a "real, original" navy with a maverick cylinder... The area in which it wuz found (....Oliver Springs area...) was no stranger to strife and trouble from civil war times right up thru the 1930's...Lots of veterans came home to places like Oliver Springs after the civil war; and lots of people were armed because of the old time coal mine labor troubles that followed like at Coal Creek... Most everybody was armed in that vicinity; and they knew how to use those arms if they needed to;.... lots of their sons and daughters them still do today... thankfully... leroy

I would heartily add to the chorus of those that advocate using one brand of hull; and only one... In the "old days" we reloaded (...and used up...) AA trap loads at the rate of between 500 and 1000 a week... We never had a jamb or a mis-fire with AA trap hulls, anybody's primers, and AA wads... They were all shot thru recoil operated semiauto shotguns; a Franchi and an old Winchester Model 50... Enfield's wise observation about the column height (...powder, wad, and shot...) is extremely important in getting the right overall height and crimp without a bulge in the end of the round... That is very important... As to longivity of the hulls; they will reload a bunch of times, then the crimp area becomes "tired" and it either will not hold a crimp or the crimp will "shoot out"... My advice:... Decide on the load ya like, buy the components for it by brand name, and start reloading and shootin... leroy

List of the traitors that vote today with Reid
leroy replied to bersaguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Folks... Got an interestin e-mail this mornin from Massa Corker explaining his actions on this very vote... The bottom line was that it has to go back to the house to be reworked; along with his usual explainin to me that he wants to "fix" obamacare for us delightful rustics as well... It's my belief that the incumbent republican class in the senate (...and house...) is feeling tremendous heat from their constituents; thanks to men like Ted Cruze... Remember this; the senate was once characterized by some bygone pundit as: "... a bunch of prima donna know it alls; each on of which think they should be president...." Just look at Kerry and Hillary as proof of this great observation... . When overbearing know it alls such as corker feel the need to "explain themselves" you can bet they are feeling the heat and trying to turn it back down a bit... That is a good thing... Thank you Ted Cruze, Rand Paul, and all you delightful rustics that have raised all this hell... leroy, primitive rustic isolationist -

We used to shoot lots (...100's if not 1000's...) of rounds thru a Ruger mark 1 and an old dan wesson 22 when ya could buy 22 ammo real cheap... Barrel wear is zero... The biggest problem (...as itis has wisely said...) is keeping them clean... Make sure ya clean 'em up good when you are fininshed; especially the powder residue buildup; and ya wont have any problems...As Moped has wisely opined; ya wont wear it out in you or your son's lifetime.... Enjoy... leroy

These guys do, in fact, serve a very useful purpose... They keep everybody sane and keep them thinkin about our freedoms.... They demonstrate how great the genius of the founding of this country was; and show the greatness of our Constitution and Bill of Rights... They engage in free speech activities and freedom of association in spades... They say and believe things that most no one (...even me...) believes in and they think and promote heinous thoughts... As long as they break no laws, sayin things and preaching doctrines that are offensive to some hearers in the public square is a good thing... Its the free exercise of the freedom of speech and association... A fundamental right in this country guaranteed by the First Amendment... I seem to remember that in the last year or so a bunch of white supremacists in wisconsin (...i think...) said a bunch of the usual stuff during an arraignment hearing in the federal court, and the prosecuting attorney (...unwisely, i think...) protested loudly that these guys should be locked up for their views... A woman federal judge called the US attorney out and reminded them about the First Amendment... She said (...correctly, i believe...) "....that each individual has the right to state his or her opinions in the public square on issues of public discussion; no matter how heinous or offensive it may be to some hearers...." . I think she is exactly right; folks, ya cant bridle free speech and freedom of association and have a free society... Havin said all that; belief in their rights to freedom of speech and association is not tantamount to accepting their views... It is important, however, to allow them to be said... Remember, this, if the freedoms of a bunch of white supremest nuts can be abridged, yours and mine can too...Ya dont have to accept what these guys believe to believe in their right to say 'em... More than that; remember that the Southern Poverty Law Center is nothin more than a leftist bunch of sons and daughters of satan that hates everybody and/or any group that doesnt see things their way... They are nothin more than a bunch of leftist hypocrites that regularly slander individuals and groups they do not agree with... They have no "american values" nor do they believe in the Constitution... They simply believe they should call the shots.. period... They punish those who dont by putting them on the "hate group" watch list... Take the time sometime to go to their website and look at who some of these "hate groups" are.... You will be surprised... They have gained stature in recent years with the current administration simply because they are allies... The SPLC and the (In)Justice Department are joined at the hip because they believe the same things... Principally, that anybody that they dont agree with should be silenced or shamed ALA the "Chicago Way"... In my mind; the SPLC is far worse than any all white Neo-Nazi group ya can think of... leroy the constitutionalists isolationist libertarian

I think it's a model 10 made before the model designation was stamped in the crane... As others have opined; i think it is a post-war (...post 1946...) because of the smaller knurled end on the ejector rod... As i remember, the pre-wars were a bigger diameter nob... The knurling looks to be the same size as the ejector rod... The "s" stamp intrigued me.... I found this on another forum, and it makes sense to me: It is part of a post from here: http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-383236.html Ya need to check the Roy Jinks book to get the "real story"; but i would bet the above is it.... The "s" prefix serial numbers are usually found on large frame smiths (....the "N" frame used to be an "S" frame....).... Hope this helps... By the way, i love these old smiths too... leroy

Its feigned outrage and theatrics aimed to do exactly what it did... Make friends among his peers and outrage real people like you and me...My guess is that he is lookin for extra work moonlitin for some of these anti-gun clowns and front groups... What happened wuz the timing was wrong... It worked a bit too well and KU took some well deserved heat... RE: The first amendment thing... He is right... The fact is that nobody cares what this idiot has to say; other than the small percentage of clowns of like mind...I think its interesting that while he likes the First Amendment and hides behind it; he doesn't like the Second Amendment... It's typical liberal hypocrisy and hyper-speech...He's just another clown.... leroy

Welcome..... Glad ta have ya!!! leroy

Looks to me like KU may be wakin up to the fact that most people dont see it the way ole David does...They also may have figured out that blamin a specific advocacy group law abiding citizens for crimes committed by the insane is devoid of any smidgen of critical thinking, and borders on lunacy; let alone his insane diatribe RE: the NRA sons and daughters... His wish that "...the sons and daughters of NRA members..." be murdered in like manner smacks of insanity in my personal view... Let's hope that KU has done this for the right reasons... My personal guess is that they havent; but as others have opined, its a start... Academia is gonna have to winnow some of these more insane and vocal outliers of society from their ranks; or they are destined to be more irrelevant than they already are... leroy

I really like Spots idea RE: the 1911... It could be time for someone to do another run of the colt 1911 re-issues... Like Spots, im a great fan of Sgt. Alvin York.... He is a great American and Tennessee Hero... leroy

That's the difference between me and you, bro.... They, indeed, have the right to name their child anything they want to name him... I have the right to opine that it's ignorant; and even chuckle a bit about it... Your failure to either understand or even agree seems to be predicated on disagreement with my opinions or actions... So what....We've had these intractable discussions before... The fact is that we live in amerika and we can have differing opinions....They can be expressed in the public forum..... We can even have 'em here (...with the forum moderator's permission, of course...)... I would just agree to disagree if i wuz you.... leroy

I didnt pick up on the fact that it wuz originally a 'last name" thing.... I should have known better... Here's the "corrected version"... Multiple ignorant people (...the "real sperm donors", and other "possible sperm donors", it would appear...) do ignorant things, it appears from conception to naming..... Evidently the mother genuinely doesn't know (...or possibly wont tell....) who the father is, and is "stuck" on what the poor baby's last name should be... Magistrate hears this sad and ignorant request and makes mistake (...possibly because he/or she wuz to intelligent to believe the question at hand....).... After thinkin a bit, comes to the wrong decision... Ignorant parent appeals and demands her right to be ignorant... Appeal judge opines that it's america and ya have the right to do ignorant things, including doing them to your kid.... He evidently thought: "... I don't care what ya name him; messiah is ok with me...". The judge knows (...as you and i know....) that the name is a name; nothin more... The judge, you, i, and most other folks that see beyond the end of their nose know that namin this kid "messiah" no more makes him a "Messiah" than callin Obama "the messiah" makes him one.... It does, however, demonstrate in grand fashion how breathtakingly ignorant and foolish the parents are here... Maybe the baby messiah will be able to live up to his great name in the best sense of its use... I hope so; it appears that both the parents, the magistrate, and obama have failed to.... "messiah" leroy opiner on the the baby namin folly...(...corrections in italics...)

Ignorant people (...the parents here...) do ignorant things..... They ignorantly want to name their progeny "messiah"... I aint sure why ya would have to ask the judiciary about that; but it seems that they did... I like the maxpedition stuff... We've got a pile of them. It seems to me that the Condor is about the right size to carry a laptop plus whatever ya put in a briefcase... Take a look at the maxpedition website (...maxpedition.com ... i think....) and check out what they have and shop around for the best price... We've bought lots of this stuff off e-bay... leroy

Folks, Eric makes a great point in the post above, as well as TMF's post on "evil".... . We live in a dangerous world... A world that is rapidly changing for the worst, i think, proving the Darwinist's among us wrong. We are getting worse, not better; we are getting more technologically advanced; yet more barbaric... In this country of late it seems we've demanded that, at best; the outliers of society; and, at worst; the insane, unbalanced and the "evil" among us be mainstreamed and given access to places where they would have never been able to in the relatively distant past.... We've deliberately demanded that barriers be applied to see to it that the propensity for this sort of thing is not found in back grounding and profiling potential employees, nor considered when reviewing their actions once hired. There is no doubt in my mind that the military establishment ignored Nadal Hasan; my bet is that they ignored this guy as well.... . I say, in the most reasonable kind of way (...it's not kind, because it simply cant be...), if you have a job in the military-industrial complex; you had better keep your life insurance current or keep a weapon handy (....or both...)... We are allowing the folks who may work beside you to be just as dangerous as any battle-hardened jhadist or criminally insane nut, all to give honor to the "god of tolerance"... This grotesque, insane philosophy will not change until there is a house-cleaning at the top of the political class, their advisers, academia, and many in the military-industrial complex... If i wuz in any location that wuz decreed to be "gun-free"; i would be lookin for another job... If i wuz servin in the military on active duty; i would be thinkin about why i wuz there and wonderin about whether Uncle Sam's social engineering objectives and goals were those i could live with... I say ya could be in a potential combat zone in the office or the barracks and ya could find yourself unarmed.... I find that unconscionable and un-american.... God deliver us from the fools who believe this is the way secure military, sensitive gubmt installations, schools,or anywhere else, for that matter....Sometimes i think that we are the insane ones cloaking these nincompoops with the authority to order these insane policies to be implemented for "the collective good".... leroy

ohell makes a good point in the post above... I have learned (...the hard way, of course...) that it's best to gage every round that goes thru a semiauto (...pistol or rifle...) before it leaves the loading bench. The gages are in the neighborhood of $25... Dollars well spent... It fixes the jambing and cycling problems for the most part... leroy

Colorado Vote Has National Implications
leroy replied to Moped's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think that all politicians better pay attention to what is goin on lots of places... Folks are sick and tired of bein sick and tired of these clowns and would-be tyrants... Used car salesmen and pimps are more well thought of than lots of these ratty sons and daughters of satan... i think that is a good thing.... leroy -
CZ: I sometimes carry my glock 33 (...same size as the 26, different caliber...) in an Allen Miller hip pocket kydex holster. As to an IWB holster, i have built 3 of the "Quick Assemble Kits" from Old Faithful Holsters; including one for the glock 33... A forum member here, SW40, turned me on to them in a post about IWB holsters. I think they are the best IWB kydex / leather hybirds ive seen; because they are put together with screws, and not rivets. Check out this link for details: http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/shop/quick-assemble-kit-inside-the-waistband-hip-gun-holster-kit/ I'm also a big DM Bullard fan too. They make some excellent leather holsters, some of them "in stock"... I really like their "dual carry"; im thinkin about buyin one for my baby glock myself... The also have excellent leather pocket holsters... Hope this helps.. leroy
