7mm TCU The Good - The Bad - Thoughts & Opinions?
frankmako replied to Sidewinder's topic in Handguns
i will check my load data when i get back in town next week. the deer was somewhere between the pig and turkey distance. i think i used my ram load on it. it was back in the mid 80's and is hard to remember. -
7mm TCU The Good - The Bad - Thoughts & Opinions?

never had any problems in reloading the 7 tcu. i used standard small rifle primers and did full length sizing of the brass. don't remember off hand how hot my loads were. i got the data in the man cave. i run all my loads across my chronograph. back in my match shooting days i was redoing and checking my loads all the time. don't think that i ran them hot. i want them to knock down the target and not beat me up during the match. i have a aimpoint on the 7 tcu. i killed a mid size deer in west tx with it. i used it to kill lots of jack rabbits back in the day in west tx. over kill, yes, but fun to do and it sharpen your shooting skills. for hunting i would go with the super 14 barrel. the 10 in barrel will do the job, but the super 14 will give you a little more. -

Ten chickens targets at 50 meters (54.7 yards). Ten pigs targets at 100 meters (109.4 yards). Ten turkeys targets at 150 meters (164 yards). Ten rams targets at 200 meters (218.7 yards) this is the ranges that are shot in long range pistol. the 10 inch 7 tcu did the job. but i moved up to a xp-100 in 7-308. my wife used a xp-100 in 30-223. we also use a ruger super blackhawk 10 inch 44 mag and a s&w model 29 six inch 44 mag on the same range for the long range pistol conventional matches. -
A Case for the Full-Size 9mm Handgun
frankmako replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
give me a break. 50 yards gun fights with a pistol. you are just asking for problems if you get into a gun fight at 50 yards. if the bad guy is 50 yards away from me i have other ways to correct the problem, i.e. drive off, run away, find cover, close ground, call 911 while running away. most people can not hit a target at 50 yards with a pistol. even when they can take all the time that they need. now put into play that the bad guy at the 50 yard mark is shooting back at you. your pistol skills will go to crap when someone is shooting back no matter what the distance is. people see to many tv/movies gun fights where they shoot each other at extreme long ranges with pistols. -

killed a mid size deer with it once back in the late 80's. i used my ram silhouette load and it drop the deer. i used it as the backup gun for long range pistol silhouette shooting after i got the xp-100. never had any real problem with the neck splitting. got many reloads from each case. some cases got, well more than i can remember on them. i use military 5.56 brass. it was free brass in those days. did not anneal the case. no need for it. i also load 7mm-308 and 30-223 for my two xp-100. never had much problems with the neck on those cases too. sometime you will split a case, but most of the time you don't. a super 14 barrel will make a great hunting gun, much better than my 10 inch. -

i got my 10 inch bull 7 tcu barrel in 1982. i use it for silhouette matches in el paso tx. you can make some great match loads and hunting loads with the 7 tcu. even better with the super 14 barrel. the 10 inch and/or the super 14 will make great hunting guns. -

nice thing about the glock you can dry fire the mess out of it and it will not hurt a thing. so you can get lots of free practice in you home.

miltec, clp, lsa, motor oil, 3 in1 machine oil, hoppies #9, and grease is what i use the most. but with some oils to much can cause problems over time. when i take a gun out of the safe for a range play day i break it down and give it a wipe out and new oil before shooting.

Fortress 24 gun safe from Lowes. Any opinions?
frankmako replied to Tennjed's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I would first check what size and fire rating that you need. Remember you cannot have a too big of a safe. You want the longest fire rating you can get. But remember a good safe will cost you money. We have a good vendor here on our site. Parker's Safe and Vault would be my next call when I have figured out what I needed. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk -
at this time we all know what is going on. it was stolen by terrorists for use later. look at the facts, it is adding up. but they don't want us to know the truth. nothing to see here, move along low information voter.

when i got my safe i called them to check to see what they had and their prices. but i went with parker's safe and vaults. parker's is a vendor here on the site. hands down he is the best to work with. when i got my safe i looked and shopped for several months to get the best deal/price for the safe that i wanted. i looked at friends safes, looked at the box stores, and internet sites. by the time i was ready to buy i knew what i wanted by size and fire rating. i had it down to two or three brands that fit what i wanted. remember to go bigger than what you think you need and get the highest fire rating you can. then i started calling around to different safe dealers in and out of state. the only person that talked to me like he cared was aaron parker. aaron parker answered all my questions by phone when others did not have the time and all they could say was to come to their store. if a business can not spend five minutes or more on a phone with me, then they don't need my money. i did the deal over the phone with him, sight unseen. aaron showed up with everything needed to install the safe right the first time. fast and easy and his install price was the lowest. his safe prices were the lowest also. do your home work on the safe before you shop. know what you want and what you can spend. a good safe is not cheap, several thousands dollars for a safe with a high fire rating. when you know what safe you want and how much you can spend then compare the price against parker's. there are lots of internet safe sites with low prices, but when it comes down to it all it is service after the sale if anything goes wrong. also i asked aaron if i moved would he come out and move the safe for me and he stated that he does move safes for a low fee.

had a 7.3. ran the wheels off. then i pickup a used 2004 with the 6.0 three years ago. i knew of the problems with the motor. the main problem is the antifreeze that ford uses. they call it ford gold. ford used car antifreeze and not diesel motor type antifreeze, the red color. the factory antifreeze after some time will plug the oil cooler and in turn this will over heat the motor oil, motor, and egr valve. it is a easy check to see if the truck as the problem with a cheap scan gauge. you check to coolant temp and the oil temp while driving at 55 on level ground. you want the two temps not to be more that 15 deg between the two. lower is better. high is no so good. i dropped about $1,800.00 to fix the problem in the truck along with some other small unrelated things. i plan the cost of the oil cooler fix when i made an offer for the truck. the good thing is you can show the seller the temp numbers and the ford recall/fix papers when you make an offer. dealers know of this problem when they sell a used 6.0, but they will not tell you. it is the "buyer be ware" with some dealers. the 6.0 motor runs like a rocket and will snap you back on take off. not like the 7.3 that is slow. the turbo in the 6.0 give you snap no matter the speed you are driving. i have seen some 6.0 that has not had the work and the temps are good. the owners told me that they changed out the factory antifreeze to a diesel antifreeze early on. i don't know anything about the 6.4, but if it has the ford gold antifreeze then it will have the same problem. so do not over look a ford f250. there are good deals to be made on a used one if one has the info.

i would go with a ford. i would go with the f250 diesel. with the diesel you get better mpg. i get around 21 mpg with my f250 diesel driving 75 plus on the freeway. around town i get 19 mpg. drop a 20 foot trailer behind the truck and i can not tell it is there. yes i know diesel fuel is higher than gas, but i get better mileage. my f250 get better mileage than my f150.

this is just another "look over there" and "not here" from obama and company. they think we are fools and don't know what is going on. well half of the nation are fools, the rest of us are not. but we are losing ground everyday. hard to beat back the fools. they breed like rabbits.

i hope they win the case for the family.
