The laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad. Its from work so i have little control; over settings. So you think I just need to get a ac powered USB HUB? Do you know if they make one that has USB C outlets and USB A connection to the desktop?
-
I have a windows 10 computer and laptop, neither with a USB C port. My ipad Pro and a few other devices I have use USB C. Currently i connect them to my PC with a cable that has the old style USB plug on on end and USB C on the other. I can transfer data this was but charging doesn't seem to work. I wanted to get a USB hub that connects to my PC via the old style USB but first, I cant find one, and second, Im guessing it wont work. Anybody have any ideas for a solution?

Much as I despise Robert Redford, I love this movie and both of the ones he made with Paul Newman, as well as his spy movies.

I don’t own any 80% stuff and have no plans to, but to mem the attraction is having unregistered guns in case guns are ever confiscated by the Gov’t in some ban situation. I know, I know, not likely, which is one reason I don’t have one, couple with the fact I’d probably screw up the completion, lol.

No answer for ya, but how does the monitor work thru a USB C? Any issues with that?

I agree! I hate that and I also hate the importer phrase, "based off of". It should be "based on." those and AX me a question are some of triggers lol.

Baton training and certification for instructors
Defender replied to Makiaveli's topic in Training Discussions
Did you ever get any suggestions for baton training? Im also kinda interested in less lethal options as well. -
I’m vacationing in the Gatlinburg area this week. They are very veteran friendly here. Several restaurants are giving half off any meal for vets, all month.

If you are talking about the requirement to have a REAL ID to fly...The new deadline for REAL ID enforcement is October 1, 2021. -

Concealed Only Permit Requirements

For any retired LEOs on here, Tennessee now offers a free Retired LEO Lifetime HCP. I just got mine. At my age, I wasn't going to spring for the fees for a lifetime permit, but, for the time to complete a little paperwork, it was worth it for free. -
You are right. I have a LEOSA credential, which is supposed to enable me to legally carry in all 50 states, but the fact is some states still dont want to recognise it. Heck, some wont even let off duty current officers carry.

I think I've got too much time and money invested in 556 plus Im too old to change now, lol, but I've been seeing alot lately about 6.8mm. I think there are some great 6.8 ARs to be had right now, but I read that the military is currently testing three 6.8 mm prototypes by General Dynamics, Textron and Sig Sauer, and plan to pick one to start fielding to troops in 2022. Watched a few videos and reviews of the cartridge and its pretty impressive. Overcomes many of the limitations of the 5.56 as well as they say outperforming the 7.62 but at less weight than the 7.62. I saw one on TV last night on the history or military history channel that was a 6.8 AR with a 8 inch barrel designed for protection details. Of course, that one would be an SBR.Looked awesome. I know some of y'all on here have been into 6.8 for a while.

I looked at it just now and it says 73.79. Did i miss the deal or am i doing something wrong? -
My mom, who lived through the depression as a child, and later became a single parent raising 2 kids alone, taught me to conserve and stockpile when you can. The prepping concept added fuel to that, but alas, I never made much headway. However, the single area I was good at was in toilet paper. Lol. We prefer Scot or Scot type generics and only because i hate other brands/styles, I always keep a couple huge pkgs in reserve. So when the \drought' hit, I did break down and but a big pkg or two of whatever was available when it was, but still only keep that for emergencies and still only use my beloved Scot! If i could only get that good with food and water items...

Onc, when i was a little boy of around 4-5, i was on the other end of a fast speed police pursuit. I was at a bar with my alcoholic dad and uncle. They were inaside drinking and i was in the backseat of the car with my puppy. As we left the bar, my dad and uncle stopped and did some meanness, and i saw my dad whip some guys butt really bad. As we left there, a little while later the police started chasing us. This was in Soddy-Daisy Tennessee. IIRC< it was the old Hamilton County Sheriff's Office chasing us. I remember sliding from door to door in the back seat, thrilled to pieces. holding tight to my puppy as we crashed thru a sawhorse set up across a road. We pulled way ahead of the chasers and slid sideways into my grannys dirt driveway in the country. They bailed and ran for the woods. A few minutes later the cops got there and gave chase on foot but didnt catch them that time. I know this isnty a good story, but at the time, I was young and thought it was just grand! I was excited! lol.

Not a chase, but kinda funny story about speed limit enforcement. Many years ago I was stationed at Thule Air Base in northern Greenland, an arctic tundra place above the arctic circle. Anyway, no traffic toi speak of there, but the snow packed roads were dangerous so speed limit enforcement was really important as folks would often drive dangerously. Anyway, we only had one speed gun and it was often broken. When it broke we'd have to ship it to the states to get repaired. ANyway, all the Americans and Danes on base knew what the speed gun was and watched for us using it. They knew we didn't have the newer car mounted devices. Anyway, several times when the radar gun was down, I would set up at the popular speeding place and when i vehicle came by i thought was speedin g, I would hold my leather cased motorola portable radio out the window pointed at the vehicle. They would usually immediately visibly slow down, and those that didnt i would pull over and give them a verbal warning, lol.
