  1. Intermittent no crank this time around.....but I'm sure that sensor is in my future as well. Taking a break from it today other than maybe shopping around online for cheapest ignition switch I can find. I took the old one apart as best I could and cleaned, adjusted and fiddled with the contacts as best I could then reinstalled. No luck. pretty convinced it's that part or the PITA to change keyed part and shaft.
  2. Update.... Pulled the ignition switch, plastic box on left side of steering column opposite of ignition key. I jumped two random holes in the harness I disconnected and it cranked! Thinking its that plastic box ignition switch wore out or the the keyed part of the ignition not activating the switch properly. The keyed part has a shaft and plactic pin the turns and pushes where it fits into the ignition switch. Ignition switch is a $30 part. Ill try that first......Actually 2nd as I replaced neutral safety switch already. Reminds me of my Army parts changer days... Seems like sometimes we kept changing parts till it fixed the problem. Uncle Sam has deep pockets though.
  3. That's what I'm starting to find out. Probably going to sell eventually but easier to sell if people dont have to get under hood to start it.
  4. But if I have key in on position I can start it by jumper wire at fuse box....key has to be on. I guess key all the way clockwise to start is a different position than on/run though. A possibility I guess. That fuse/relay I pull to use the jumper wire...is that a fail or work part or do they get glitchy sometimes? I switched it out with another one that was from the same fuse box and the same age but maybe I should try a new one?
  5. Even youtube can't help me on this one, any 04 Cherokee owners solved this issue?? I inherited an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6cyl automatic with 50,000 miles. It has intermitent no crank problems. Replaced the Neutral safety switch that was a screw in plug thing with a plunger and three terminals, no help. Has a new fully charged battery. When problem occurs I can put the ignition key to on and pull a fuse/relay at the fusebox and touch a jumper wire there to start. So its not the starter because that works every time. About to rig some sort of start button from fuse box to cab soon and call it done! Any Ideas? I'm no mechanic but was a pretty good parts changer in the Army at one time.
  6. When I first glanced at this post I thought it was an ATF sting like chucktshoes mentioned. I wonder why like prostitution stings, the ATF hasn't tried more sting operations? Seems like something the antigunners would be pushing for.
  7. Prayers for an easy and peaceful passing.
  8. It sure looks much better than all the canned anti gun letters I used to get from my representatives in Oregon when I used to live there. Keep writing! I'm sure one of her interns has taken note, extracted your concerns from your correspondence and added that data to a graph or pie chart that she reads once a week or so. As cold as that sounds, don't be discouraged. No matter how she digests the information the important thing is she actually hears and sees that we are paying attention. You got me motivated anyway!
  9. Stupid auto correct. I meant to write ND, No ND.... I could disable it but then my posts would be really bad on the spelling.
  10. This guy lost it when it fell from his waist band while intoxicated. Good job on whoever found it and safely gave it to staff as it was loaded. No ND here just NC. Negligent Carry!
  11. "Ignorance and carelessness are considered the two leading causes in accidents," Potter said. "If you're going to be carrying a gun, shooting a gun, you need to know all you can about the safety rules and location of the shooting." Heart breaking tragedy for the girl and her family. Not only that but stupidity like this helps bolster the anti-gun crowd's mantra that guns are not safe anywhere anytime.
  12. Just wondering is it going to be less expensive and quicker to obtain soon.
  13. I've been dragging my feet getting a TN permit, I wonder should I wait a bit now and see what happens?
  14. Sorry to hear about your forced move. I'm sure the area your'e in, housing is crazy compared to Cookeville. To anybody starting out, not just speaking as a Realtor but a former renter, longterm homeowner, former landlord and soon to be again landlord........ 90% of the time if you can swing it and plan on staying put at least 5 years. BUY! Little or no down payment or lower income? The govt. can assist with USDA loans or VA backed loans. (some restrictions apply). You guys that have good income, good credit???? What are you waiting for? Wish I could go back in time...... I'd be Rich, all the money I pissed away on worthless junk if I'd have bought a second or even third home earlier and been getting renters to pay the mortgage????? Anyway, don't say nobody ever told you.
  15. Our only hope, (our kids and grandkids that is), Is converting these Prog types to our way of thinking. On the 2nd A at least. Best way to do that IMHO is an invite to your range. Easier said than done I know.....I had to leave Oregon to get away from them. Of course here they aren't as rude and vocal in their ideology,,,,,......YET!!!
  16. Welcome! As I've found here in the Cookeville area it's ok outside City limits and you sound like you're looking for all the right features in a property but..... TN is growing fast by leaps and bounds, with subdivisions popping up all over. 10 acres you buy today might be fine untill the neighbor sells out and houses start going up in a couple of years! I'd buy as much land and as Far out as I could tolorate if it was me. I'm kinda new here to TN myself and this is a subject I'm interested in so I'll be watching to see what the locale Knoxville folks say. Good luck with the move.
  17. With me getting started there is a lot of info on the net about previously unknown Mint errors, double stamps etc. It's got me afraid to give up on a coin untill I've exhausted all the possibilities. Like my dad had a bunch of 64 nickles?? in a baggie. I was about to spend them ay Mcdonalds untill I looked them up. Supposedly if the steps on the back are sharp and crisp it's rare! How sharp? Still dont know so I'll hang on to them for awhile.
  18. If it gets to that point I feel the standard US coinage with known silver content will be highly tradeable. Jewelry or other non-standard lesser known items like Silver Maple commemorative whatever pseudo coins, not so easy to trade. Just my opinion. Not saying the other stuff impossible to trade but just US coinage super easy to trade and be surer of authenticity/ value.
  19. Well, sort of clueless. Inherited some coins, Jewelry, and LOL Hummels. Those little cutsie kid statues that were popular in the 80s and 90s. some of mine are from the 50s. Not going to part with anything right away but where do I start when ready? Consignment antique shop? Melt value on the one pendant/chain for instance was 600 at a Jeweler here who buys gold. It was a custom piece and ugly as sin and I know the Jeweler has to make a profit too but..... The coins are easier but a real PITA. Mercury dimes and a variety of pocket change from the early1900s. None rare so far so melt value or minimal collector value anyway. Still slowly going through them. I'll probably sort for collectables then Bag and Bury the ordinary for when silver spikes I guess. Hope I'm not accidently missing a real valuable one though! Anyway I know I'm not alone. What would/did you all do when inheriting such stuff? ALSO, are those cheap scales any good?
  20. I'll give it a shot. "mother said that they came to the United States from El Salvador to escape the gang, but were not able to do so" Looks like he became a member anyway because MS13 gangs rule in communities where large numbers of illegal immigrants end up. Why? Maybe the parents of these kids are working their butts off being exploited with sub wages because of their illegal status. No time to watch the kiddos so the gangs exploit them to deal drugs etc. Kids are probably willing to join at first. Easy money, excitement. A vicious cycle. Illegal immigration is cruel and should be stopped.
  21. The cat's out of the bag now but....Glad I grew up in a time without www! Poor kids today. Too much tech.
  22. It really clears the mind looking up at the Planets and Stars. Puts all our earthly worries in perspective.
