  1. When your appeal is done; it is sent to the FFL. It is approved, denied, or is a “conditional approval” (meaning they aren’t sure, and its up to the FFL if he wants to proceed or not.). If they were going to pull your permit for a disqualifier; they would do it. The only way you won’t have it happening every time is to find out what happened and fix it. They only way you can do that; is if the TBI tells you what is wrong, or you see a copy of your background check. The TBI was of very little help to be, the BATF agent handling my C&R application told me what it was and how to fix it. It worked. We are all guessing at this point.
  2. You can get an attorney. But you can also buy a FBI background check and you would see what they are seeing from the feds. If the information is coming from a state, you may have to contact them. It’s really not hard, if you get to talk to people that want to do their job. My wild azz guess is that the person that did your last check is seeing that DV, and either there is no disposition or there’s something they are latching onto that the others didn’t. Because even if that’s a misdemeanor; that’s a disqualifier Don’t beat yourself up, if you don’t have a disqualifier; its not on you. But I understand how you feel. My FFL said he’s had many people that have never even been arrested turned down. It appears (from what we see here and other forums) the TBI does it more than most states. I don’t know how Covid is affecting them, but your appeal should have been done by now. Mine was done right then by my FFL on a Thursday or Friday and it cleared on Monday. But that’s been a few years ago. Did you include a copy of your HCP when you faxed your appeal?
  3. Max loves water bottles! But he sometimes gets them crunching at 5AM, when I take him out. Then he thinks it’s a game when I’m trying to get him to be quiet. So, he’s running around the yard crunching like crazy. He also thinks that when he’s up; everybody should be up.
  4. I run a dual monitor set-up on my desktop and use a LG 32 (32MP58HQ-P) inch monitor when programming on my laptop. I use CNC programming software with 3D CAD models, its graphic intense. I don’t use 4K. I’ve seen it and couldn’t tell much difference on a 32 Inch monitor. I don’t think you can do a good 4K PC and a 4K monitor for a grand. But I don’t think you need to if all you are doing is financial stuff on the web. If you had graphics problems with a 4K monitor, assuming the PC you had it hooked to could do 4K, I would suspect you had something else going on. As far as a Desktop/Laptop, that’s up to you. A laptop these days can do pretty much anything a desktop can do; but they aren’t cheap. The only advantage a desktop has is the ability to change components. I choose a laptop for my programming software because I may need/want to take it on the road. My desktop is a Dell XPS so its fine for most anything. I got my 32” LG on sale about a year ago for $169. I was going to get another for Black Friday, but they sold out. But, another deal will come around. Everyone will have opinions on Desktop and Laptops. I quit building my own years ago and went with Dells from their website. I’ve had many, but this last time I needed a laptop and the software is picky about graphics; so I wanted to use what was recommended by the software mfg. With Dell that put me in a Workstation, that I didn’t really need. I contacted Lenovo and they hooked me up with a ThinkPad at a bunch less than I could buy it online for. It’s worked great so far; runs CAD/CAM like a champ. Good luck finding what you want.
  5. I appreciate the sites that have the “show only in-stock items” option. When you check that the whole page is empty and you don’t have to dig around to try to find anything.
  6. 63mm is a big objective. All AR’s are not he same. It depends on the type handguards you have. To be certain, you need to know the distance from the top of the handguard where that 63mm objective would be, to the top of the picatinny rail.
  7. Loss of sense of smell and taste is common with a cold or the flu. Of course anyone experiencing that right now will assume COVID-19. Nothing wrong with that, the quicker they seek treatment, the better, no matter what the cause. As far as COVID-19 being here in 2019, we have no way of knowing that, other than the number of cases that would have been reported by hospitals. I don’t think that happened or we would have heard about it by now. China tried to circulate false information via social media to blame the United States. That didn’t work, so they have now switched to blaming India.
  8. I looked at last month 2019/2020. I compared deaths, deaths from COVID-19 to the population and then compared those to cancer and heart disease. Here is that data from what you linked.
  9. Can you measure the distance from the top of the Picatinny rail to the barrel Outside Diameter in the area where the 44MM objective would be?
  10. I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t walk across the street to get an Apple product for free, if I had to keep it. But then, I didn’t offer that little tidbit of information at the time, because that isn’t what you were asking. Toying with my emotions on the 39 and 10mm ammo is just wrong. I thought we were better friends than that.
  11. The BATF told me to contact the County Clerks office, get a certified copy of the court document showing the disposition. I did and they were good with that. My daughter works in the County Building and did that for me. The lady there told her it happens all the time. She gave her two certified copies, because she said it happened to her husband, and would probably again. She said the dismissal had been sent to the FBI, but she would submit it again. It’s been years, and I’ve not had the problem again.
  12. I was arrested in Illinois 35 years ago for having a gun in my car. It was a misdemeanor and the charges were dismissed. I bought guns through FFL’s in Illinois and Florida for over 20 years after that without it ever being an issue. When I moved to Tennessee I was refused. The TBI lady said she wasn’t allowed to tell me what it was; so I told her. I also told her it was dismissed, and even if it wasn’t; it was a misdemeanor. She told me it could be a felony in Tennessee. A family member was dating an Illinois State Trooper at the time that worked in the division that handled background checks. He said Illinois wasn’t reporting anything on me other than a couple of traffic tickets; it didn’t come from them. To see what the Feds were reporting I had to request a background check. It was $25 at the time. A C&R FFL was $30, so I went that route, knowing it would involve a background check. I got a letter from the BATF telling me the gun charge did not have a disposition, and how to fix it. I did what they said, got approved for the C&R, had the dismissal added to the Feds database (by Illinois) and haven’t had any problems since. The TBI seems to be very quick to refuse. I don’t know if that’s because they are more through, or its because other states understood what they were seeing and the TBI did not. But we have seen several cases on this forum where people thought because a charge was dismissed they were good. You aren’t if a database somewhere doesn’t have a disposition. Good luck.
  13. That bothers me; that’s obscene. No gun rights group should be spending money on a building like that. If they have money like that, they need to be investing it in local elections and local laws.
  14. That’s why I started this thread, I was thinking maybe its time to take another look at it. But what we are seeing is that your reloading buddies are just fine with bending you over on the price of reloading components as our shooting buddies are with trying to rip our heads off on ammo pricing. We can buy ammo, and you can buy components. Both on going to be very costly. Production will eventually catch up and we will both be able to buy what we need. So to me, cost and availability still is not the issue. You either want to do it or you want don’t; and cost and availability is not really an issue anymore now than it was before. I also have to believe that if the Biden administration tries to pass ammo legislation or taxes; they are going to hit reloaders just as hard as ammo buyers. But that’s just a WAG. Those of us looking at the option of reloading aren’t your enemies. We aren’t trying to take anything away from you. If you enjoy it; roll on and be happy. No one here is suggesting stopping that. We are all in this ammo issue together. I have plenty of ammo, but I’m not shooting. One, because of Covid, and Two, because I don’t want to deplete what I have. I think this may go on a lot longer than in the past. But I hope I’m wrong about that.
  15. I don’t want to go to a Doctors Office, let alone a hospital. That’s where the carriers are. I can’t imagine, or understand a nurse not wanting to get a flu shot or the Covid vaccine when it is available. I’m sure they have done their research and have their reasons. But if that were me, I’d think maybe I’m in the wrong line of work?
  16. If you bought her that iPad Pro with all the bells and whistles like I suggested; she would probably be ready.
  17. Those guys that want to carry a gun in their pants pockets like those hammerless models. Maybe you could trade it for a good one. A K or L frame would make a much better home defense gun. Plus the felt recoil and accuracy would be much better for the ladies. Don’t get me wrong, I love my J-frames. But not for home defense; unless that’s all you have. Remember....this thread was a "what would you do?" type.
  18. Both... at the front/back of the house. But if that’s not an option; the S&W. EDIT: I take that back, the S&W is Hammerless; so I’d let it go.
  19. Good for you Doug! I'm sure you will both be happy. Now go spoil her.
  20. That looks a little better. Mine was a picture I took of my TV during News 5 story Tuesday? night.
  21. OS, I wear a mask when I go out. Does it help? I honestly don’t have any idea. You can do anything you like with the data depending on what you are trying to show. But it doesn’t bother me, so I do my part. My point was, and why I laughed out loud when I saw it was that he was presenting what I can only assume (I did not fact check him) are facts that show it really doesn’t matter. I don’t think the mask wearing is political, and maybe that’s why FaceBook hasn’t removed it yet. Or it could be that they haven’t caught it yet.
  22. Ha,ha,ha... I'm surprised FaceBook hasn't banned him.
  23. My parents moved from their house to an assisted living facility. They had all kinds of problems with their TV, phone, and internet. (They didn’t allow them to have Xfinity) I took care of their computer remotely until TeamViewer locked me out saying an assisted living facility was “commercial building” and told me I had to buy an expensive subscription plan to have access. They should be ashamed. But anyway, I tried to explain to people that TV, Internet and phone is all these locked up, elderly people have when quarantined in their apartments. Luckily after a few months they had an opening at a better place; those people understand, and are much better at solving problems. They got their Xfinity TV/Internet back and have a phone that works all the time. That was major in making a bad situation a little more livable.
  24. No argument, just asking because I don’t know. I think kids should be in school, because they aren’t at risk and its damaging to them to be locked out. But I keep hearing that kids aren’t carriers. How does anyone know that? And whether they are immune, handle it with minor symptoms, or whatever; if the virus is on them and they then transfer it to a surface or person at home or somewhere else, why would others not get sick? Same with vaccine. If vaccinated people don’t get it, why couldn’t they transfer the virus they have collected on them to those that are not vaccinated? I’m not a Doctor and don’t play one on TV, but I remember all the bad information during the AIDS epidemic that was being put out about how you can/can’t get it; when they (so called experts) had no idea. I don’t know what’s going on, but I don’t think we are getting good information.
