  1. Well, I am not man enough for Mezcal or Tequila, so you underestimate yourself! Same story as to many, one night in college made it my kryptonite. Now it can turn my stomach if someone is drinking it across the table. I dont even know why the CIA went with waterboarding when Tequila would have been much more effective at getting answers.
  2. If you've managed to open it some time ago and make it last that long, that is pretty amazing! The 15 was one of my favs. Usually first one opened for the year. Then the 17 Eagle rare. I had to hide it from my wife after it was opened or I wouldn't get any.
  3. Yeah, not too many things come in the black velvet bag I guess. If ya used Google, that’s cheating!! Its 2014, like the Stagg. Last year I was able to get the entire range.
  4. Absolutely. Will go as far as to say you can pretty much say that about anything coming out of a US distillery. Those that are actually buying $1000+ a bottle are pretty much doing it for posing and show. Hey, dont get me wrong, I appreciate that they have so much success that money is no object. Can't fault they made better financial choices / bets. I have been fortunate having spent a bit of time at Napa valley wineries over the years and connecting with some folks in the industry. Its afforded me some opportunities to attend industry events and some exclusive tastings. There are differences and it takes time to train a palate. Wines lend themselves better to nuance at price variation in my opinion. But at some point, you either hit the limit of your palate or realize when its your money the delta doesn't justify it. Having kissed dual CA tech salaries goodbye also had a huuuuuuge effect For our current TN trailer trash saleries, I really like Angels Envy. At $50 something its great. But 9 out of 10 times, I still prefer a good Scotch over Bourbon.
  5. I Like subtle. Trust that fans would recognize it with just this.
  6. Well that bottle was $79, so all good by me I hear ya though. Honestly this entire artificial value thing was what had me start holding on to them from 2015 or so when I stopped being able to get them. I knew that a slightly older one like this was probably worth close to double that for someone who was desperate. Then a few days before Xmas, I got a text from a buddy back in CA saying what a bitch things have been and thanking me for providing an avenue for relief to bring it back. This pic: I had given him a bottle of Handy Sazerac in 2018 before I left. I'd forgotten about it, frankly wasn't a huge fan of Ryes but knew he was. It got me thinking. Two things made it more valuable to me on xmas thank some maybe price. I got to share it with folks who really appreciated it and the shared experience and discussion was cool. Some satisfaction of knowing it wasn't going to someone who would pay that kind of price creating the problem around the stuff. Maybe trying to help the feeble hope that one day I can get them again. In all this, I do have one holdback I have gone back and forth on. Not exactly a holy grail, but a heavily blessed one. A good friend back in CA has offered me some crazy prices for it. But he plans to resell overseas, and was upfront about that. apparently worth double insane prices in China and India. Cant bring myself to consider it. In my mind, its for hat day I get a fatal diagnosis. But then again, hit by a bus tomorrow could be how it goes. Maybe next Xmas! BTW, this has undertones of selling ammo and guns during the peak of pandemic pricing. Funny how that didn't quite translate to sell sell sell. Maybe some surplus here and there to get some of the insane dollars. Assigning value can be fickle perhaps.
  7. Definitely added to my sentiment about facebook and its most of its user base. Lots of interesting things out there about how FB's effect. Them shutting down the largest group and the 46 states filing suit to bring that about are things I was glad to see. While its bled out to other groups, they are smaller, and their time could be limited, Imagine its not different than any other scalped commodity, the profiteers will find a way with the lacking enforcement. There is a reason the states had issue with the secondary black market. Mention that as those concerned about legality, like anything on the interwebs, forum based legal advise is as good as it's cost https://www.esquire.com/food-drink/drinks/a30298851/bourbon-boom-facebook-black-market/
  8. Over the year plus of challenging events driving home more of a live now perspective, The holiday celebrations had us dip into a stash of our final few remaining bottles purchased prior to the whiskey market explosion which have driven these to become nearly unobtainable. The last time I had opened one was probably 5 or 6 years ago. George T Stagg barrel proof bourbon. I am happy we did, it was great to get reacquainted with George Opened up nicely with a little water to bring out flavors and put the heat onto the back burner. Slightly scorched caramel and cinnamon dominate on entry really made it a great follow to pumpkin pie. The oak is there but in relative moderation compared to the other flavors. One of my favorites as the citrus and cherry profiles are tamed to subtle proportion in the complex mix of flavors that carry on thru the middle. I am reminded why we always had a few of these around. I doubt it will ever be like the good ole days when grabbing a couple bottles wasn't a problem with at least a case of it on the shelf at the Total Wine at a mere $79 each. But hopefully improves quite a bit before our last one is gone.
  9. Nice! You are your own best Santa. It was worth a Google. If anyone is interested, there is a guy selling a number of these sans the Cielo liqueur they originally had. Not sure if the price is out there, but you know... https://www.ebay.com/itm/284151085541 This link had some good details on the item. https://www.etsy.com/listing/224591628/mr-spock-star-trek-decanter-1979?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details
  10. I dont know how many brain cells I've lost to Testers model cement as a child. I'd also use it to build models on occasion Recently, a friend started sending me aircraft models and model rockets kits to encourage me to build them after we were talking about childhood hobbies. It had me recently reexamine cements. Daniel provided some good resources, I'd also suggest taking a look at youtube for cement comparisons. I ran across a few that did side by sides of the various types including Tamiya thin cement that contrasts how they work, bond strength, and amount of plastic melt. Also differences in applicators Generally you end up with each type, more critical on small scale and anything with transparent parts, like aircraft canopies. Modern cements have nice range, I dont miss the tendency for fingerprints to end up projects from that little bit you didnt realize was on your finger when old testers was the only option in most stores. Also the reason you paint after glue whenever possible. Another thing that may be of interest, especially if you like space related models, are metal models. They dont need cement or paint and can be a good dexterity excercise. https://www.amazon.com/Fascinations-Metal-Earth-Model-Apollo/dp/B07PNC9887 Have fun with your project.
  11. Nice! Much better result than most of my escapades that start with have dremel...will travel
  12. I only buy their during their regular free shipping periods. I have edge with brownells for same reason.
  13. Definitely not a blame thing, just a FYI / notification for those that may not have known. Just like I being the one to dropped the notice about GB, same reason. TN was one of the last for them to implement (later also for GB). It was a good run. All these are rooted in the Wayfair Supreme Court case that the vast majority of states supported getting the prior ruling overturned which exempted online purchases in the absence of a physical presence in a given state. Like said, it was a matter of time.
  14. Yes, it was only a matter of time, my order yesterday was the first time I've seen tax being charged. Boy did I live cheatin the revenuers out of their 9% over the last couple years while other online sites had already started adding TN tax. With the dwindling FFL discount, its makes it harder to have Brownells be my go with their prices having also gone up a touch. I think Midway is gong to be more of a stop on occasion.
  15. Ok....had to do it, the less US censory write-up More here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10158475/Stripper-Pole-Assassin-hooked-Longhorns-coach-defends-emotional-support-monkey.html
  16. This made my day. Thanks Greg! The stage name she went with is priceless. But where are the pictures! I want to see the monkey on the pole. My thought was how does that work if the monkey, allegedly according to the article, will high five on command. Maybe they meant don't touch my monkey in the euphemistic sense, not her pet? Not many things better than a good stripper story.
  17. Do as we say....NOT as we do. I dont miss that place in the least! Actually its more of a defacto ban in that they added a requirement that for new roster adds to have microstamping of cases (for most pistols), the exorbitant testing fee was more smoke and mirrors to detract from what was really going on. Adding a tech they knew did not exist and their advisors told them (at the time) would not really be feasible anytime in the near future. Ca typical and obvious long game march to ban all firearms eventually, like the AW ban. Though instead of no longer allowing a gun to pass hands and dying with the owner, they relied on manufacturers to stop making legacy models in the hope one day the entire roster would not be in production. CA loved companies like Glock. Glock just said, no, we can keep cranking out the Gen 3 along with whatever Gen we are on. We love those CA dollars. Great to see some move for the FN. I like my 509 quite a bit.
  18. Wow, looks like its in pretty nice shape to boot. Congrats.
  19. Yes, Preach! Already have that spin being spun. Totally, blood in the water. Fam comes out in support before their trained shark is let loose. I normally dont support outrageous lawsuits, but this one seems to have such clear liability. No reason not to get a big settlement. Well this is making the rounds today. I hope it doesnt on too political for some, but then again, as pointed out, the gun culture aspect mention and how this is going to go down is.
  20. The blue ones feel like a political campaign sign. Maybe its me, seems very reminiscent of someone's '20 election sign, no? And a vote also reminding me I wouldn't pick any, and going with least worst option. I like the idea of the watermark, but in different colors. The blue one is kinda close to Montana's in some ways. I like the look of Wyoming's. Come one, its got a cowboy on it. Cant we have something cool. Like the volunteer dude with his AR musket? On the loose stylized state outline, I am not getting that choice. Not just because other states have them and are accurate. To me it sends the message that our education system doesnt include geography or we found this on a 5 year old's twitter. Maybe its the counter to the vacation advertising to be interprested as: Hey....you dont want to come here...too many uneducated hill peeps...and we even let them run DMV.
  21. Definitely welcome great news and happy to see it. Have to agree having showed their hand and known goals, the next one will be liked minded. But they have learned their lesson in a choice that was overtly anti-gun with a well documented history of *****. I trust they are deep in foaming at the mouth gun haters, so the danger will getting one whose background is far to subtle to make their level of bias and disregard for constitutional rights as obvious and as easy to prove. I'll take the victory, And double down on mole repellent.
  22. It strikes me that its was some of the same think behind the 450 Bushmaster but by a fan of 7.62. Seems it fell to the fallacy that drove 10mm to .40.....the 308 us is to heavy and powerful so the Rem 30 AR is the 308 short and weak for the sake of saving a couple pounds? Something between 7.62x39 and 308. Definitely questionable in the build it and they will come camp. Really the only thing of value is the lower like I was alluding too, but would have to drop even more to make it worth it...if you like Kryptek.
  23. The spec they list for the extension, they dont say what exactly that is a measurement of. If its the diameter, its consistent with the DPSM pattern 308 extensions at the hundredths they go out to. If its the flange to breech face than its a few thou short, but may not yield a stacking tolerance problem depending on your BCG OAL. If it wasnt in that kryptek and what looks like a weaver rail vs pic, the lower may be worth it if they fire sale it even more down the road
  24. That is sad. It reminds me of when I sent to New Orleans in a lot of ways. I think some pictures around the large number of weekly deaths attribute them to gangs illegally possessed guns versus .gov false narratives around the target demographic of this study and related laws. But that is probably my "privilege" making me confused about their facts showing the real problem in America are the whack job presumed racists blasting away at the range with their evil back rifle. Sure .gov avoids every talking about the Chi town example in these discussions, but they know they can only effect the law abiding. And here you see the brilliance of this....... The HUGE benefit of disarming that horrible group of law abiding citizens thru any fabricated means is key to helping accomplish the re-distrubtion of wealth they are promising these poor souls forced into crime on the streets, wherever that is. Its easier to take wealth when you dont have to worry about some one shooting back perhaps. You know, they should just cut out the middleman. Have gangs put up wealth redistribution drop boxes all over the city. That way you folks that visit can deposit your cash, jewelry, and legally owned guns you dont want for these poor oppressed folks. In return they agree to stop shooting one another and .gov stops twisting facts. OK, I see it....the first part would work....not the second.
  25. Ask and you shall receive I'm guessing In her mind, this is what the streets of Chicago look like
