1. That was one of the stupidest things I've seen this week...and I see a lot of stupid things at work... :stunned:   Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...     btw. The officers conducted themselves very politely and professionally. I imagine they deal with a lot of stupid daily.
2. I've had this Mika holster and used it for my J Frame 640 for years. It initially has a rubberized rough out wrapping that had worn smooth. I wrapped it in the rubbery shelf liner and applied Tactical (black) duct tape. :ugh: Works like a charm! The 9mm Shield fits nicely into my off hand pocket in my Carhartt carpenter jeans...my daily wear. Just an option to consider. :pleased:
3. Cylinder & Slide does remarkable quality work as mentioned. But one of the finest Hi Powers I've ever shot was worked up by Jim Garthwaite. He is a true master gunsmith for the Browning Hi Power.   I've never owned one of these but have had the pleasure of shooting one worked by each of these shops. If I ever win the lottery...   http://garthwaite.com/services/browning-custom-work.php
4. Tula work great.   I/we have run more than 20 K in 9mm handgun the past 12-16 months.   I'm loading about 1500 5.56 right now using Tula.   One of the long range guys at ORSA (instructs at some of their clinics) told me the majority of the shooters out there actually prefer Tula.   The only Tula primers I've ever had issue with was 5K of the lead free pistol primers...they sucked. 2-3 out of every 100 was a dud...but that was only with the lead free Tulas I picked up a few years back when primers were very scarce.   I've had great luck with Winchester, Federal, CCI and Remington SRP in the past.
5. I'm glad it worked well for you my friend.   While I will modify, I like to think "enhance" the externals of my Glocks, I am always hesitant to run anything other than OEM internals.   I think your experiences just reinforced that for me. :pleased:
6. The comments and reviews are awesome! Thank you for posting this!I needed the laugh.   I am so lacking in Tacticality...
7. "We conclude that the current training program is insufficient to overcome old habits learned on other handguns," the 52-page report states. "As a result, many deputies appear to be to undertrained for the weapon they are using."   Well Duh!   Like Moped said...big difference is weapons systems.   To their credit they admit it and it shouldn't be that difficult to initiate an adequate training program.   I do hate the use of the term(s) "accidental" and/or "unintended" discharges.... Negligent is more realistic and I'm not applying this just towards the LASD. While however "unintended" those shots are they remain negligent...you do it, the least you can do is own it... :2cents:
8. Excellent advice from TGO David and FUJIMO. Doug.   We're seeing a lot of this in my ER...most of the time it's viral and therefore doesn't need antibiotics...just symptomatic treatment like Tylenol or Ibuprofen, Mucinex (guaifenesin), warm salt water gargles and lots of fluids like dilute Gatorade and/or water...maybe a sinus med. But if you are on BP meds heed this warning from Mayo: " avoid over-the-counter decongestants and multisymptom cold remedies that contain decongestants — such as pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, phenylephrine, naphazoline and oxymetazoline".   Coricidin HBP is frequently recommended.   But we have been seeing some Strep, but very little actual influenza yet.   The only definitive way to know is to get it checked out my friend. The virus, if that's what it is, will run it's course over several days...the first 3 are usually the worst. If bacterial in nature then antibiotics are required...or antiviral if influenza.   Please do not consider this as "Medical Advice". I am just an interweb critter as far as you know LOL. But I hope you recover quickly and have a Blessed and Merry Christmas Sir.
9. Appendix carry vs traditional strong-side carry is much akin to the 45 acp vs 9mm argument. It'll never be settled on the interwebs but will always be fodder for verbiage. Choose what works for you and be happy.   As to the video. Good on them!   We live in a 360 degree 3 dimensional world with people all around us. We generally train (if we actually train at all) or practice/shoot (more likely) on a square flat range.   At least these folks are considering, and training, in a relatively realistic manner for a relatively realistic situation.   There are things that could, probably should, be done a bit differently...but they are at least training and learning. I applaud them for that.   The young lady has damn fine trigger discipline. When, if, we train, there are times that we will muzzle ourselves and others...we try diligently not to do so. But in a dynamic training scenario it's always a possibility.  But if your finger is not on the trigger until you've made the conscious decision to fire, the risk is mitigated to a large degree.   We all need to learn to move around people, dynamically even...because that will mostly likely be the situation you find yourself in when the balloon goes up. Use a dummy gun, blue gun etc. Learn to maneuver around others from a competent professional, and practice.   Recent study is demonstrating that physical contact ( actually touching or physically redirecting those that are with you) behind you or to the side, out of your line of fire, is working much better that having to mentally process verbal commands. Processing auditory commands under stress is problematic when "flight-fight-freeze" kicks in. Training and practice helps  immensely in these situations.     Just my unsolicited and ever devaluing $0.02 worth...     fwiw you may want to look into the training and material to be learned, information gathered, from folks like Craig Douglas (SouthNarc), Chuck Haggard (Agile Training) and our own Randy Harris. Their breadth of knowledge and experience is phenomenal.     edit: spelling...
10. I admire your restraint! That is one beautiful handgun kieffer!
11.   +1 to all of this! Especially #5.   I run Trijicon HD's on my 19 and XS Big Dot 24/7's on my 12 & 17. The factory Glock sights are fragile and will break, especially as you seek and process realistic training.   I have done grip texture mods and undercut the trigger guards...but wouldn't recommend it until you have plenty of trigger time on your gun. Then if you feel you will benefit for external mods you can make that informed and educated decision.   I leave my Glock internals stock OEM and after 10's of thousands of rounds I've seen no reason for me to change that.   I have several "carry" magazines that I know function. I have a box full of "range" magazines that receive repeated rough handling, use, and abuse. It works for me.   I like TGO David's sight recommendation and it's a good one to consider.   Good advice all around here imho.   edit:spelling
12. That's a well thought out load and setup MarkA along with solid rationale for such.   The potential for a scenario as laid out in Forstchen's "Day of Wrath" is a likely situation, on some level at least. A variation of it was mentioned earlier in this thread stemming from the San Bernardino terrorist attacks investigation. Might want to read and at least consider the possibility.   http://www.amazon.com/Wrath-Dies-Irae-William-Forstchen/dp/1625781547/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1450701512&sr=1-1&keywords=day+of+wrath+forstchen     Getting home is my #1 priority. I'll stack the deck in my favor in whatever manner is necessary.
13. Thanks for all the good advice and insight folks. It's appreciated.   So far the reamer bit from the Lyman chucked on the drill is working OK. I reamed and primed 500 pieces last evening.   Leroy, I'd like to get a Dillon swager...but all of my "expendable cash" has gone into components recently...but it's on my wish list for sure.   As frankmako mentioned, it's getting rough on my aging and somewhat arthritic hands...getting old ain't for sissies LOL.   comms...I have a 550 and with Dillon's incredible customer service I'll probably not have a need to purchase another, at least that I can justify to the missus. :) Dillon rebuilt it for me last year. I originally purchased it in '89. It's like a brand new press now. +1 to Dillon!   I've considered purchasing the head exchange setup and another powder measure for the Dillon as a quick-change to .223...but at this point, when my brass is completely prepped out, I can load 250 rounds/hour easily with my single stage Lee. So I'm pleased enough with that.   Heck handloading is a Zen thing for me anyway and helps focus my sometimes scattered brain. :pleased:   Thank you for the good advice my friends.
14. What's your preference for working rifle brass folks?   I load relatively large amounts of handgun rounds...10+ K/year..but have only sporadically load rifle rounds...a few hundred now and again.   Upon advice here on TGO I picked up a Little Crow WFT for trimming brass. It's a remarkable tool and makes short work of trimming my 5.56/.223 brass...amazingly short work of it!   The overwhelming majority of my 5.56/.223 brass is range pickup. I tend to find about 10% of it to have military type crimped primer pockets. In the past I've used a Lyman Case prep multitool.   Now that I have the Little Crow I was able to trim about 1500 pieces of brass in a few hours. I use an RCBS hand priming tool and load on an old Lee single stage press (that simply won't wear out) that I purchased back in 1986.   I've read several handloading specific forums in my research and it seems that it's about a 50/50 split on recommendations.   An acquaintance of mine that shoots long range rifle recommended simply taking the reaming bit, chucking it in a drill, and ream the pockets. It works great, is definitely fast. And the primers seem to fit easily and are snug.     But what are your thoughts on swaging vs reaming the primer pockets?   Any points I should consider?   edit: spelling...
15.   Apparently Yes.
16. I'll be darned. That's interesting. I've never seen one before.   Looks like surfabilly is on it.   Google yield this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-CAPE-COD-BRASS-FIREPLACE-FIRE-POT-FIRE-STARTER-/400660691443
17. I rarely see any .22 in the Knoxville area...very rarely.   As a matter of fact the ammo shelves at the Turkey Creek Walmart this past Monday were the most sparse (any handgun round) that I've seen them in several months.   I'm glad the folks in mid-TN are having a better go of it. I pretty much don't even consider shooting .22 these days...it's cheaper to shoot my "home grown" 9mm. :squint:
18.   It has been rumored that Comms has a subliminal and unnatural attraction for the .40 S&W.   I don't believe it for a minute! We all know he is a major promoter of the 10mm...you know, the longer version of the .40 :ugh:   I, myself, am only manly enough for a 9mm...so I can't cast stones...perhaps one day I too can handle the 10mm ... :pleased:         eta...Comms...you know I'm kiddin' right?
19. LOL. It sounds like your missus has a "plan" and you are on top of it JReed!   Thank you for the kind words, and of course the offer is open ended.   Keep us posted on how things transpire.
20. JReed;   Has your wife had the opportunity to fire a 9mm Shield or Glock 43? I know you mentioned she didn't care for the size of the Shield. But she may, or may not I guess, feel different after shooting them.   I ask because I would gladly offer to let her shoot my 9mm Shield and also offer to have my friend meet us at the range (ORSA or Windrock or wherever) with his Glock 43. I prefer the 8 round magazines and my bud runs Taran Tactical extensions on his 43. I find they just feel better in my hand with the extensions, but she could try stock factory flush mags if she'd like.   One of our "shooting buds" has an SA XDs9 as well. It too is a nice shooting little gun.   FWIW the same guy that has the 43 also has a 42 and has run a fair amount of Freedom Munition ( iirc ) through his...no feeding problems encountered. Good shooting and accurate little gun.
21. I don't own a G 43. But my bud has one and is running the Taran Tact's on it. I've shot it a couple of times and love those suckers! The weight and length made a dramatic improvement in handling to me. Just my opinion...   I've run Pearce extensions on my G 26 and I've no problems with them.   I have seen the Pearce extensions rupture when ejected onto concrete during a class. But I've had aftermarket Glock mags and some older NDF Glock mags do the same.   6 of 1 ... half dozen of the other I guess.   But I do plan to grab a Tran Tactical + 6 extension for my G 17 nightstand gun.
22. I always wondered what the heck TapTalk was...now that I know how annoying it is, I must look into it!   OS...could you send me a link to it? :pleased:
23. Our media, locusts that they are, have never let something like reality, or the truth, stand in the way of furthering their agenda.   Language structures thought...so there is intent to their labeling.   I hate to think my tax dollars are funding tripe such as this.   "Suicide by cop"? Who woud-da thunk it? :stunned:
24. Until relatively recently I would have highly recommended Falcon Bullets. I've shot several thousand of their 147 gr 9mm...great bullets.   But alas, upon checking their website they seem to be on a hiatus related to family issues.   We cast and powder coat, but I know several folks that just use the interwebs and order bullets from BBI or Black Bullets International out of Alamo, TN   https://www.blackbulletsinternational.com/contact-information.html   or http://www.bayoubullets.net/   and http://montanagoldbullet.com/index.php/catalogsearch/result/index/?limit=all&q=bullet   Good luck with your search.
25.       Only to the most highly trained observer...and everyone else... :squint:
