  1. The sad thing is that the airlines are so tied to the .gov's money that they're suffering market consequences anyway.   In my company we have an informal rule that if it's under 6.5 hours by car, we won't even consider flying.  Basically - by the time you get to the airport, suffer through the complimentary groping, deal with delays and connections, and get out the other end, you'll have spent that amount of time anyway.
  2.   The problem with that is that the TSA is more about security theater than it is about actual security.   I haven't been as safe on an airplane as I was on September 10, 2001 when I flew into New York and simply placed my Spyderco Rescue in the tray as i passed through the metal detector and picked it up on the other side. If they wanted real security on airplanes, they'd let the airlines do it themselves, price it accordingly and suffer market consequences for lapses.
  3.   Basically, Lipscomb's participation lets vets go to school for free at the undergraduate level and there's another scale at the graduate level.  I think the mechanics of the program basically work such that Lipscomb comps any difference between GI Bill benefits and their actual tuition.
  4. If I'm ever accused of a crime I didn't commit, I'm certain they'll use my passport picture on the news.  All the old ladies will take one look and think, "oh, he did it for sure - look at that guy."
  5. Lipscomb's Yellow Ribbon program is worth looking at. They put their money where their mouth is when it comes to supporting the troops.
  6. A 9mm 1911 with a rail A Ruger No. 1 Tropical in 375 H&H Maybe if I'm a good boy, a M1A Scout Squad in walnut I'd kind of like to go full Robtattoo on a Savage Hog Hunter build in 338 Federal.
  7. Oh wow. How sad!
  8. That's a fun race!  I love seeing all of the cars compete.   I saw him before the holidays.  Life seems to be treating him pretty well.
  9. I've got a friend who went several years working between undergrad and getting his masters, and then again for a few years before he went back for a PhD.  When he speaks about it these days, he talks about having to teach himself calculus three different times...
  10. I'd 3D print it setting the fill at some lower percentage to make it strong enough, but also speed up production.
  11. There was a time when it was considered the patriotic duty of an American to be familiar with the operation of the primary battle weapon of his country (i.e. see the Civilian Marksmanship Program).   I'd love to see some of that voiced back into the dialogue these days...
  12. Sign me up!
  13. He's really not worth your time - or anyone else's either for that matter.
  14. Y'all should be embarrassed.  This may be the first mention of Celine Dion on a gun forum - ever.
  15. I've got a 340PD you can try if you like. It's got a fair bit of wear, but it's reliable and packs a heck of a punch with full house .357 mag loads.
  16. I'll take it, Steve.
  17. I didn't realize he was an alumni of Webb School down in Bell Buckle. I think we have at least one other member who is a graduate.
  18. Something just seems off about a chicom 1911...
  19. McMaster.com - they're great - and their shipping is amazing. If you don't have it by then beginning of the week I've got a thread pitch gauge.
  20. McMaster-Carr out of Atlanta. They'll be here tomorrow.
  21. I crushed my 2015 resolution of working out 5 days a week. These days, if I count the 30 minutes of walking I do last thing before bed at night, I get a workout everyday. I had a surfing injury this year that's really put a damper on the last half of my year. PT is making it better, but I've got a ways to go to get my full range of motion back in my shoulder. My immediate goal is to get this shoulder back to where it was in June of this year. Or, maybe I'll just admit that I can't top Johnny Cash's resolutions and stick to what works:
  22. Tell me the thought process behind this?  I'm interested.   I've always gone with heavier than I've thought I would have needed.  Does lighter line allow for better presentation?
  23. I knew y'all would get rid of Carly Fiorina if we waited long enough. I'm still skeptical of how those biometric national ID's are going to work out for us.
  24. A lot of the mini lathes have an inline fuse that is apt to blow if the motor is overloaded.  It's worth checking into if you're using this format lathe.
