Good for you JG55. Keep it up.

I carry Federal 147gr HST's exclusively. Anything I've ever dug that particular round out of out of has shown great expansion characteristics and weight retention. I like the fact that they stay subsonic, are quieter and have less felt recoil in my particular weapons. YMMV. I think a lot of the stigma surrounding the rounds are due to the early adoption of first generation rounds for purposes other than that which they were intended for (subsonic SMG's).

Ok, Legal question about vicous dogs
MacGyver replied to Wyldk2's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Have you tried animal control? You've likely got some more justifiable options at your disposal that don't involve an angry neighbor retaliating against you for shooting his dog. And, if the dog really is a threat, you can take action before it bites somebody. -
You know...my wife is a member of the NEA because she's a teacher and the county requires it. We get all kinds of mailings from them that send my wife into orbit. That said, an organization doesn't necessarily speak for all of it's members. I would be more concerned if I saw St. Judes on that list directly. Also, like Bo and yourself you have to recognize that both St. Jude's and LeBonheur do phenomenal work in out community. I'm all for supporting them (mostly regardless of their stance on 2A stuff), and applaud SafetySouth for doing so. I eat lunch on Sunday after church with a variety of pacifists and conscientious objectors. I might not agree with their stances personally, but can look past that to see that there is plenty of room in the community for all of us.

To the OP, try updating your browser - or using a different one. While delays due to shared server usage have been mentioned above, this forum is using the same software that is used by hundreds of other forums. If it was breaking browsers and hanging computers, it would be doing it to a lot of them. Plain answer is very simple. It's your computer or something on it.

Will do. Maybe I'll pick one up and do a giveaway or something attached to your PIF Christmas Thread this year.

1977 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. Bought if from a guy who had it sitting under a tree in his front yard down in Florida. Drove it for years. Got pulled over in it one time going up Monteagle when I was in college. Officer told me he paced me going 80. I joking told him the only way that truck would do 80 would be to drive it off the cargo ramp of a C-130. He gave me a ticket. Wish I still had it, because today I could do one heck of a restoration.

Sweet. Keep us apprised of your progress - when you can, of course. Though, I bet coverage on the trail is a lot better than it used to be. If you are thinking of thru hiking, my guess is you've got a lot of experience. That said, if you need any recommendations on gear, approach, etc... feel free to shoot me a PM.

Why I won't sign-up for "benefactor" status, $20 for 6 months??
MacGyver replied to a topic in Feedback and Support
Thanks for sharing. And you felt the need to post this, why? There are definite benefits to a local community. If you are offering something to sell, you can usually get it sold pretty quickly, and not have to worry about shipping, insurance and the fees that go along with listing something on GunBroker or the sort. It still holds true that there is no such thing as a free lunch. Or maybe put a little bit better - Anything that is worth anything is worth paying something for. A lot of people benefit from this board. You may or may not be one of them. A lot of people think it is worth subsidizing the cost of running the forum. I'm pretty sure this site isn't hosted on a 6.95 a month shared web server. Anyway. Good luck to you. -
That's a great piece of steel Brooks. I'm looking forward to their folder based on the same blade later this year.

Thanks for the clarification, and welcome to TGO.

Nice. Good to see you back on more during the day.

+1 on Adventure Science Center Also, try JumpZone in Franklin. It's fun for kids (and the adults with them who get in free). It's cheap, and my 3 year old absolutely loves it. Birthday Party | Indoor Inflatable | Jumping Party | Bounce Play | Jump Zone in Franklin Tennessee Saw the posts about BounceU. We've been to both. Jump Zone by far has the better inflatables. It's suprising how fast those vinyl slides can be.

Nice.

Depends. What are you planning on hunting with it? I love the Remington 700. I've got one in .308, and that seems to be my go to/all around bolt action rifle.

Hollow Points (45 ACP in particular)
MacGyver replied to inspecting1's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I like the Federal 230gr HST. Hard to find, but a great round. -
I might try to make it to this one, too.

I'm a fan of the ACS, too. I think that the storage tube results in a little better and more consistent cheek weld for me. Make sure you order for the correct buffer tube if you do get one.

Working for a company banning weapons on property.
MacGyver replied to Krull's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Lowbud is right - at least for now. In a right to work state, you have no rights or expectations of privacy when working for a private company. It's either play by their rules, or find somewhere else to work. -
Those are cool pictures. I know it doesn't make the distance any less, but it has to make you proud to see your son serving our country.

I'm with you guys. I want one, too. I didn't realize they were shipping. I've got a 9mm SBR build going, planning on building one in .458 Socom after that. Maybe later this year.

Really only my right front pocket feels like it's out of control sometimes. The front left with the NAA Mini and multitool is less bulky than a few Leatherman's I've had over the years. That's why everything in there has been changed multiple times as things have gotten smaller over the years. The hard thing about it is that once you are used to having it, you actually use the stuff. Minus the pistols, I use everything in my pockets multiple times each week. Some of them multiple times a day. One of these days I'm going to CNC some tools based on my own experience.

Vanderbilt student newspaper exchange on school shootings

Nice response. You articulated the position of a responsible gun owner well.
