  1.  I totally agree with you on the ghost ring sights. My old eyes just love them.
  2.   I got one of those cute little battery powered electical swatters from Harbor Freight. It works, but a pingpong paddle or an old tennis racquet does just as well.   I learned the hard way that you don't let hornets build a hive.  We had some in the yard a couple of years ago.  I tried to take a live and let live approach, but it didn't work out.  the father in law took a couple to the head and neck, so we went to war.  Four cans of hornet killer later and there were bodies everywhere.  We were hitting them in the air, on the ground, and down the hole.  After the battle, we were surveying the wreckage, when I heard the sound of a chopper coming in from the left.  I braced for impact, and felt the searing, vibrating burn as the assassin exacted her vengeance on me.  I never saw the assailant, but the damage was done.  Three days of a swollen neck and a week of pain.  Never again I cry, NEVER AGAIN!  All hornets must die!  :0)    Yeah, the hornets are deadly, and the  finger size monsters that burrow in the ground are really aggressive. Those suckers have chased me into the house before. I keep several cans of Wasp and Hornet spray on each porch and in the garage just to try and catch any of the little buggers in a resting position.
  3. After hearing the comments the other day about the feds thinking the childred were basically theirs, not belonging to the parents bs; I wouldn't think it would be long before we are told that only federally accredited "teachers" would be acceptable to conduct any sort of "schooling."   With this government is all attitude, it's only a matter of time.
  4.   Congratulations. I know it must be a source of pride and comfort for you knowing that you did right by them and gave them the chance to be the best they could without being brainwashed by the current "educational system."   And I do use that term loosely and with more than a touch of scarcasm.
  5. Should I see one, will gladly do so.
  6.   Thanks, I thought so, but wanted to make sure. I won't say they are too high, I only have G&L to compare with. The last time I had a membership at G&L, it was 200, but that was when the Greenbriar store first opened. Not sure how long ago that was. And I don't know what the membership would be now.   But when I factored in the time it took me to get to Greenbriar, the milage and cost of fuel; then the difference didn't seem that great to me.   Sure, the Hendersonville store is closer, but not at the same level of the NA range. And the shorter range isn't quite as appealing.   I will not downplay either G&L or NA. Both are great stores with advantages for each. So I won't comment on the pricing of either as being out of reason.   I'll go where it's more accessable to me.   So I guess I'm saying that the decision has to be made on all the factors that influence your thinking about the relative costs and how it relates to your needs for a range.
  7. Sort of an updated version of Leno's Man on the Street bit where people are asked such stupidly easy questions that you want to strangle the tv when these idiots can't identify know political figures, questions about who's running for office/elected, or just basic questions that have awnsers a 6 year old should know.
  8. How do you mean "expensive"...as in products or the range fees?
  9. Ears and eyes are a must for me when shooting. Brought up that way and with rare exceptions, always use them.   Worst ever to happen to me is having brass bounce back on me from partions, other shooters, or just plain thrown in my face from the gun I'm shooting.   Only negative I personally have ever encountered was when a 9mm casing bounced off the leftside partion and went behing my shooting glasses. I couldn't get them off fast enough. Had a burn scar on my cheek for several years.   But better a small scar than that casing hit me in the eye. I would imagine a hot casing would do at least some minor damage to the eye. But I'm not going to risk shooting without some form of protection.
  10. That's a good one.
  11. Congratulations on the Browning and bringing your son up right.

Multiply?  Why yes, they do. I started with one, now it's 3.
  14. The Presidio. What do I win?
  15. Like daddyo, I really have to wonder...just where are the 72 to now 92 percent of the American people who want universal background checks? And why does the figure change each time the line is quoted?    I don't doubt that in a heavily weighted poll, in the right geographical area, with the hand picked persons taking said poll...that a number like that can't be obtained. But across the board statements like that, I find really suspect.   Not that I believe for one instant that a poll might be fabricated to ge a specific awnser. Not at all.
  16. Too bad it wasn't Bloomberg himself....that would have been best.
  17.   The day isn't far off, my friend. With our Supreme Court Justices looking to the World Court for guidence in making some decisions, and lower courts making decisions with references to Sharia Law, we stand in peril of losing.
  18.   I have said virtually the same thing for the last 20 years. I've been told that it was impossible. Can't happen. Islam can't get enough of a hold here to influence the country.   Right.   Look at the population figures for the Eastern European nations. Look at the dramatic increases in population segements. Where are those increases and where are the largest gains. France and Spain virtually run by Islam. England's muslim population is increaseing as well.   Now look around you. Do you see the expansion of the followers of Islam? More Mosques. More converts from the prisions. (And that 's another thing. Anyone wonder why the big push for converting the prision populations?) Study of the Quran in our public schools. Not as an elective, but as a required course.   Where do you think the Islamic revolution will come from? A tidal wave of ship-borne soldiers? Plane loads of civilians with the Quran in their arms to quietly and gently convert the countryside?   No. From the converts here. Can't happen? Look and think again.   This land of religious freedon has become the land of religious freedom for anyone but Christains.   And the longer it goes on, the more of these articles will be swept aside in favor of the latest athlete to come out or some other meaningless drivel.
  19. A sure sign of good things to come. I hope.
